Hey there, friends.
It's Robin from Dear Headspace.
Now, when fall comes around, I'm all about entertaining friends and family at home, where we can be cozy, a great bottle of wine.
It makes these crisp fall days even more festive.
So I just joined First Leaf, which is a personalized wine club that's made it so easy to have a few amazing bottles on hand in the house.
So getting started with First Leaf, it was an absolute breeze.
I just answered a few quick questions about my wine preferences on their site, and then they put together an amazing assortment of top -notch wines just for me.
And it all gets delivered right to my door.
Boom. I've been loving the Zinfandels from Sonoma County.
They are just great for fall, a little spicy, with perfectly jammy fruit flavors.
Now, my family has also been discovering new wine producers in California, which makes getting a new delivery each month so fun.
Plus, folks, if I get a bottle that I don't absolutely love, it's not a problem, because First Leaf has a 100 % satisfaction guarantee.
So I'm going to tell you, get cozy and pop open the perfect bottle of wine from First Leaf.
Go to tryfirstleaf .com slash Radio Headspace to sign up, and you'll get your first six hand -picked bottles for just $44 .95.

Hey, friends, Robin here from Dear Headspace.
And you may not have heard, but a new school year is starting soon.
And personally, I'm still processing the fact that I have a 10th and an 8th grader.
But if you are also a parent and you want to make this new school year an opportunity for your kids to learn important life skills and continue building independence for that, I'm going to recommend to you Greenlight.
Now, Greenlight is a debit card, and it's a money app for families where kids learn how to save, invest, and spend wisely.
And parents can keep an eye on kids' new money habits.
You can also help kids get into their fall routine with a chores feature that lets you assign chores and automate allowance.
If you want even more out of Greenlight, you can upgrade to Greenlight's Infinity Plan.
Greenlight Infinity gives the same access to financial literacy education, plus built -in safety to give you peace of mind.
With Greenlight Infinity, teens can check in without needing to actually check in thanks to family location sharing.
They can also call for help when they need it with SOS alerts that connect them to family members, 911 or both.
There's even a feature that detects car crashes and will connect your young drivers to 911 dispatch and alert emergency contacts if needed.
So no matter which features make the most sense for your household, Greenlight is the easy, convenient way for parents to raise financially smart kids.
So sign up for Greenlight today and you're going to get your first month free when you go to greenlight .com slash radio headspace.

Hi, I'm Dora and welcome to Radio Headspace and to Friday.
Here's to us to making it to the end of the week.
So I was reading a book the other night before bed by African shaman Malidoma Somay and he says each person is born with a destiny and he or she is given a name that reflects that destiny.
Over the past year I've been learning more about my own ancestry and lineage.
My mom is from Kenya and my dad is from Ghana.
They both immigrated to Canada over 30 years ago but still I've held on to certain cultural traditions and one of those things was the way that they named their children.
In Kenya there's a matronym and patronym naming system which means that their children are named after their grandparents as a way to honor our ancestors.
Dora means God's gift or gift from God.
My middle names Kefura and Amma share the details of when I was born.
Kefura means little rain and when I was born it was drizzling outside and Amma means Saturday for the day that I was born.
Finally my last name Kamau means silent warrior and originates from the Mau Mau tribe in Kenya.
Growing up with two immigrant parents wanting to create the best life for their children we had to assimilate.
When I was younger however I didn't see the value in having such a quote unquote weird name.
I grew up in predominantly white settings.
We lived in a rural northern area of Canada for a good chunk of my life and my friends had names like Emily Rose, Jessica Marie, Ashley, Lindsay, you know normal names.
For me I always felt like I stood out no matter how much my parents told me to fit in whether it was my name, my hair, or my skin.
So when I was around eight my family moved to Vanderhoof which is a small country town in northern British Columbia.
And on the first day of school the teacher had asked us to display our first and middle names on our desk as a way to remember our names.
And what I did was to change my middle name so they sounded close to my peers.
I dropped the Kefura and turned Amma into Emma and this is something that I started to do for quite some time after that.
At the time it really didn't seem like a big thing but now when I look back as an adult my name is what made me unique and is my power.
My name is my destiny and I was given those names as a way to carry on the traditions that also keep my culture alive.
As I find my way back to my ancestral roots I'm unlearning all the things that I was made to feel ashamed about and it goes beyond names you know.
Maybe there's traditions or beliefs in your family that have been passed down that you don't see as being important but something that just is.
I encourage you to get curious and learn about the meaning of your own name and see if there's a story behind it and also see if the story is a part of your destiny.
Even when we think of something like meditation this isn't a practice that just began a few years ago.
This has been passed down for hundreds of years.
A lot of Buddhist practices are a part of a lineage and a tradition.
Imagine if those people back then decided that they wanted to fit in and give up those traditions.
There's such power in our names and the meaning behind them.
If we all tried to fit in and belong by our similarities we would miss out on the greatness of our unique individual experience.
So I'll leave that here for today.
As always thank you for listening and I look forward to seeing you back here on Monday.
