Welcome, welcome, welcome to the show.
I got to talk to you backstage, and I have to say, Ella, I love your British accent.
Thank you.
Oh, yes.
But you're originally from New York.
Yes.
I want to clarify for you.
Yes, New York is out there.
When did you move out?
It was kind of, like, back and forth until I think I was 6 years old.
And then, yeah, we've been in London my whole life.
But, yeah, my dad's from Oklahoma.
My mom's from California.
So not British, really, at all, apart from the accent, which is kind of random.
They all sound different.
It's hilarious.
I've got two British sisters, so that's, yeah.
I have a picture of you young in New York here.
You're on your way to the Statue of Liberty.
Here's baby Ella.
And you're looking like... You really look like you're having a blast.
Yeah.
I was on the way to the Statue of Liberty, and I was not enjoying myself.
But now I would love it.
So I don't know why I was so upset.
Look at how cute.
Come on.
That's so cute.
Belmont, we were talking backstage.
I said, do you have any early jobs that we could talk about, like, when you first started out?
And you told me about this job you had that I think everyone should know about this.
It's fascinating.
Well, so I started working for Cash when I was 12.
Every summer, I had three jobs.
I mean, I was really going after it.
I was like a Little League umpire.
I was a caddy in golf and then I worked at an Italian restaurant where three of the owners' names were all Tony.
Fantastic. which is, like, very, you know, Italian thing for me to be doing.
That's fantastic.
Yes.
Shout-out to Tony.
Yeah, shout-out to Tony.
And Tony.
Yeah, and Tony and Tony.
And Tony.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But my first real job where I got like a paycheck was when I started modeling in Chicago.
Yeah, now this is what I'm talking about.
Yeah, and this is like, you know, it's such a glamorous life.
I started out, I would drive up five or six hours into Wisconsin and you know you'd be there at a warehouse and they'd have like a rack of like 200 t-shirts.
And you would just spend the day putting them on and off all day long.
And so I was a T-shirt model.
And I would get the picture, and I'd send it to my ma, and I'd be like, hey, check this out.
It's on sale.
So you give her a discount.
But I'm going to show you guys the photo of Belmont's modeling.
And you can tell me, by applause, how amazing is this guy?
Look at this.
Check that out.
Fantastic.
How are we even sure that this is you?
What are you talking about?
This is my favorite thing I've ever seen.
This is so good.
I think I thought my face was in it, so I was really smoldering.
And then we'd go online, and it was like, oh, yeah, I mean, my chin was perfect.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Guys, let's talk about off-campus.
Congratulations!
Thank you so much!
Thank you.
Thank you.
This is a big deal.
Everyone that I know is watching this show and obsessed with it.
Are you feeling it?
Are you feeling the popularity?
Are people coming up to you and recognizing you?
Yeah, we had a couple interactions.
It's just been, yeah, it's been really surreal.
It's been really crazy.
Yeah, a lot of the support has been very positive and we're so proud of the show.
It's been a very cool couple of weeks for us.
Yeah, absolutely.
I know JLo is following you on Instagram.
That's completely normal.
I don't even know what to say.
Jalen put it in the group chat.
I was like, I hope you all know that J-Lo is following all of us on Instagram.
That's how you know you made it.
Crazy.
It's crazy, yeah.
Yeah, so we followed, naturally, we followed her back.
Most of my feed is now off campus and J-Lo.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Kind of a good combo.
How do we describe Off Campus?
It's a love story about hockey and about music.
Yeah, it's a college group of friends.
There's a nice hockey team.
We have Hannah and Ali.
I play, yeah, Hannah, music, hockey.
We've got all the vibes.
Yeah, it's a really great ensemble.
There's great friendships.
There's great family moments.
There's love.
There's sex.
There's hockey.
There's music.
There you go.
There you hit all the bases.
There's a lot of Easter eggs, too, from a lot of classic romantic comedies.
Which ones stick out in your head and you go oh yeah, that's kind of the closest thing that we are to
I like to say Troy and Gabriella, High School Musical.
There is a kind of High School Musical thing happening.
I think we've got to get him to sing at some point.
I think that will have to happen.
I know they're going to make me sing at some point.
Yes, you have to.
Can you sing?
Are you going to?
It doesn't matter.
I can sing.
Yes.
Yeah.
They're going to make me do it.
They are definitely going to make you do it.
They made me dance already, so, I mean, like, I'm halfway there.
I'm already putting myself out there.
You're a double threat.
Yeah, you're a double threat.
Ella, I got to say, one of your other co-stars in the show has to be your bike helmet.
My helmet!
Yes!
You are wearing a helmet for a lot of this.
Oh, yeah.
And Hannah looks super cool doing it.
Oh, yeah!
Safety first.
Safety is sexy, everybody.
And did you think that you'd be wearing a bike helmet this year?
I honestly, it was such a meme to us when we were filming.
It was hilarious.
I love that helmet.
It was such a joke.
And the fact that everyone's kind of caught on to it is making me die.
It's the funniest thing ever.
Oh, yeah.
So I had that Spelmon also wearing the helmet.
Yeah, I put the helmet on sometimes when she lets me.
Yeah, yeah.
Only, yeah.
Yeah.
That's a good co-star right there.
It's a very special prop.
And a little umbrella was put in my helmet by Mika on the last scene of the show.
So I was wearing that helmet to the very end.
Yeah.
She wears it a lot, even when we're not filming.
That was so smart.
They'll go, last looks.
Ella, take the helmet off.
That was mine.
You have to do it, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
The show takes place in a college and there are a few fun phrases that come up throughout the show, and I was wondering if I could show everyone here some off-campus expressions and then you explain what each one means.
Great.
Phrase one.
Are people gonna think I'm a puck bunny?
Ah, the puck bunny.
What is a puck bunny?
Well, the Puck Bunny is the women that support the team.
It's the girls that travel and they all sit together and they root for Briar U.
That collection is the Puck Bunnies.
And I think Atom used an actual Puck Bunny.
I believe it's a real term.
It's a real term.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
A Puck Bunny.
Yes.
All right, I love that.
I'll start using it, yeah.
Okay, great.
Great.
Yeah, yeah, good.
I think we found your drink drink.
What does that mean?
This is an alcoholic drink, and it's your favorite drink, I think, of all time.
So for Hannah, the pina colada, I would say the same thing for me.
But yeah, drink, drink.
So that's the drink that you like, the one that you go.
Oh, I love that.
That means that's your favorite.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You're number one.
Yeah.
What is yours?
Pina Colada.
Pina Colada.
It's a pretty good drink, Jake.
It's really good, yeah.
During the show, actually, though, we had to drink vanilla almond milk with orange juice.
Congratulations.
Yeah, it was awful.
Acting.
Welcome to acting.
Thank you, guys.
Don't drink that.
It was gross.
It's not the drink-drink.
This phrase, it says, the song is so sexy, makes me want to do a sexy little dance.
Yeah.
How do we?
Well, so I mean the sexy little dance.
It's easier to show you, I think, than to tell you how to do it.
I mean, Ruth.
Ruth, can we get a little music?
So you start with a little smug look on your face, Jimmy.
Do it with us, too.
You kind of just go here.
It's a little hips, little shoulders.
And then you kind of just let it loose.
It's a sexy little dance.
It's a sexy little dance.
Oh, I like this.
And a little stink face helps.
I want to show a clip.
Here's Ella Bright and Velma Kameli in Off Campus.
Take a look at this.
Get over yourself.
I don't blush.
Oh, yeah?
See?
Nothing.
Not bad.
But what about when we kiss?
You're very sure of yourself.
Oh, right.
Your terms.
No kissing.
What's wrong, girl?
I thought you said we needed practice.
Now, Ella Bright, Belmar Camele.
Off-Campus is streaming now on Prime Video.
When we come back, we have a performance from Maluma.
Stick around.
