Easy English Expression, rehashed!
Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English!
Hey everybody, Coach Shane here.
You know, I'm getting older.
And when I first recorded E3174, that was a long time ago.
it was like a long time ago I was much I was still old but I wasn't as heavy and fat so years later when I redo this podcast I discover that I am heavier I am fatter and the reason is it's my wife that woman can cook yeah and I just everything she cooks is so delicious and today's expression is the perfect expression to use if somebody gives you some food and it's perfect now it doesn't have to be your wife it could be your husband it could be your son your daughter could be a restaurant you it just it's such a delicious i mean sorry it's such a great expression and now i'm hungry enjoy the podcast
let's go back in time today's expression is so wonderful oh that hits the spot spot that hits the spot that hits h -i -t -s not heats but hits hits the spot s -p -o -t that hits the spot now what does this mean well first of all we use this expression most commonly after we eat something delicious or drink something delicious or something that we really needed?
For example, just before I made this podcast, I ate lasagna.
Oh man, it was perfect.
The taste was perfect.
It filled me up. I'm very full right now.
I'm ready to go to bed.
I'm very satisfied.
I'm very happy. Everything was perfect.
It hit the spot. spot.
So to hit is this, the spot.
Where is this spot?
Well, you can imagine the food goes into my mouth and down my throat, right to my stomach. And my stomach is very large, but in the middle of my stomach is the happy place.
That it's a small area and if I eat something or drink something and it goes to the happy place, my whole body feels absolutely excellent and I say, ah, that hit the spot.
Let's check out a dialogue.
Oh boy, that hits the spot.
Yes, this is just what I needed.
Nothing beats a delicious meal.
Especially when it's KFC.
KFC finger licking good and Coke KFC.
Oh my God, man. These guys have to stop eating KFC Kentucky fried chicken.
Now the last time I ate KFC a week.
No, no, not a week ago.
Maybe two or three years ago.
Come on. It is good.
sometimes KFC sometimes even McDonald's tastes delicious it's true when you're really really hungry anything can taste delicious and anything can hit the spot so if you're eating it now you say hits the spot if you finished or if it was yesterday past tense you say hit the spot So tell me, right now, if you could have something, something to drink or something to eat, what would hit the spot?
Let's check out that dialogue two more times.
Oh boy, that hits the spot.
Yes, this is just what I needed.
Nothing beats a delicious meal.
Especially when it's KFC.
