Easy English expression rehashed.
Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English.
How's your weekend going?
Coach Shane here, E-Cube number 330.
Oh, this is a sad expression.
So I have a son, Mikey, he's a big boy.
And his little brother, Jimmy.
Mikey always... says all of his problems are caused by his little brother.
If Mikey does something wrong, it was because of Jimmy.
If Mikey loses something, it was because of Jimmy.
If Mikey breaks something, it's because of Jimmy.
If Mikey can't hear the TV, it's because of Jimmy.
Isn't that terrible?
It's terrible.
Poor Jimmy.
I love Jimmy and I love Mikey.
Today's expression is a great expression for that type of situation.
And by the way, real life situations are the best way to learn English.
And that's what we do every day in our community.

Let's go back in time.
Today's expression is very good, but actually it's not a good expression, but it's useful.
This is it.
Take it out on someone.
To take it out on someone.
Don't take it out on me.
Are you taking it out on me?
Take it out on someone else.
Take it out on Someone, somebody, me, you.
Well, I am taking it out on you.
That's the idea.
What does it mean to take it out on somebody?
It means that inside you, you have a lot of stress, a lot of frustration, a lot of anger.
There's a lot of emotion inside you and it explodes onto somebody.
So if you're feeling angry like, let's say, you're at work and your boss makes you really mad, really angry
Can you yell at your boss?
Well, it's probably not a good idea.
But then you come home.
After work, you come home and, oh boy.
You might.
Some people.
Sometimes they take it out on their wife or their husband or their children or their dog or their cat.
Oh, it's not good.
It's not good.
It happens though.
It does happen.
We're humans.
Yeah, it happens.
It's not a good thing.
So my recommendation if you drive to work, if your boss makes you really, really angry In your car, in the trunk, in the back of the car, have a big pillow with your boss's picture on the pillow.
And then just start punching the pillow.
Boom, boom, boom, boom.
You can take it out on the pillow.
Then you will feel better.
And then when you go home, it's no problem.
I'm serious.
This is really effective.
It sounds silly.
It sounds goofy.
But no, it works.
I'm serious.
If you're feeling angry especially if you're feeling angry, it's very easy to take it out on someone you love.
But you know it's a big mistake to do that.
Don't do that.
Get a pillow.
Start punching the pillow.
Yeah, that's the idea.
Check out the dialogue.
I'm sorry I took it out on you.
You always do.
I'm sorry.
My dad made me so mad.
Try and remember that I'm not your dad.
You bet.
Yeah, it's not just men taking it out on women or their children.
It's women taking it out on their husbands, taking it out on their children.
I hate to see it.
I hate seeing it.
I hate seeing a man taking his anger, his frustration out on his children, his wife.
It's horrible.
But it does happen.
So you have to know yourself.
You have to know yourself.
And if you sometimes take it out on someone you love, you have to stop.
You have to find another solution.
Some people say go exercise.
Some people say listen to music really loud.
Some people say go take a walk.
Some people say take a breath.
Some people say, count to ten.
One, two, three, whatever.
There is something that will work with you.
Taking it out on someone else is not a good thing.
It happens, but do your best to not do it.
Find something else.
Find a pillow or something else to take it out on.
What is it about?
Once again, it's that emotion.
It's that energy.
It's that anger.
It's that frustration.
It's that sometimes sadness, but usually it's that anger.
It's that urge to hit, to yell, to swear, to do something bad.
Find a safe place to take it out.
Don't take it out on some innocent person, okay?
That's it.
You guys have a great day.
We're starting a new week.
So you might have some frustration.
Somebody might make you angry this week.
Well, do your best to take it out, not on somebody, but on something so that nobody gets hurt.
Okay?
Listen to the dialogue two more times.
And together, let's master English.
I'm sorry I took it out on you.
You always do.
I'm sorry.
My dad made me so mad.
Try and remember that I'm not your dad.
I'm sorry I took it out on you.
You always do.
I'm sorry.
My dad made me so mad.
Try and remember that I'm not your dad.
Thanks so much for listening.
