Hello, everybody.
My name is Coach Shane, and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English.
Happy Saturday.
Coach Shane here.
How you doing?
Do you have any plans for the weekend?
I hope you're not busy.
Because if you're busy, you need today's expression.
E-cube number 281.
Let's go back in time.
Today's expression is a verb.
I like this verb.
It is to scramble.
To scramble.
Scramble.
S-C-R-A-M-B-L-E.
To scramble.
To scramble means to move quickly.
To hurry up.
To do something very fast.
Now, another common definition is to mix.
So, have you ever heard of the American breakfast scrambled eggs recipe?
I'm sure you have the same thing in your country.
It's where you take two or three eggs and put them into a bowl and then mix the eggs together and then cook them.
And you can do that on a frying pan too.
You can mix the eggs together.
That's scrambling eggs.
I like to scramble my eggs.
But here, scramble, we're using it to mean moving quickly.
And the most common sentence would be, I had to scramble.
I had to go fast.
I had to move quickly.
You had better scramble.
You had better move quickly.
You had better go fast.
We scrambled.
We really went quickly.
We moved very fast.
Shall we scramble?
Shall we go quickly?
That's it.
It's too easy, but it's a great word.
And once again, we use this word when something is very urgent.
Let's check out the dialogue.
What are you doing, Sergei?
I'm getting ready for DDM Live.
Are you joining tonight?
Oh, yeah.
In a few minutes.
Oh, you'd better scramble.
It fills up fast.
Uh-huh.
You know, Sergei, I have Several students named Sergei.
And you better scramble.
That's right.
You better scramble.
You better hurry because it fills up fast.
In a couple days, there will be no space.
I'm not joking.
Actually, if you're thinking about joining DDM, oh yes, you better scramble.
You had better scramble.
Hurry up.
It fills up fast.
That's today's podcast.
Too easy.
Can you tell me the last time you had to scramble?
Actually, tonight I needed to scramble.
I did.
I needed to buy some milk for my coffee in the morning.
And the store closes at 9 p.m.
Yeah, I'm living by the country.
So the store closes early.
And it was 8.40 when I realized I needed to buy milk.
So I had to hurry up.
And I zoomed to the store.
I got my milk before they closed.
So now I'm happy.
Tomorrow morning, I'll be able to have coffee.
I scrambled tonight.
And I was successful.
That's it, everybody.
Have a fantastic day.
Practice the dialogue with a friend.
And together, let's master English.
