Easy english expression rehashed.
Hello everybody.
My name is coach shane and welcome to easy english expressions.
Come on, let's master english.
Hello everybody.
Coach Shane here.
Time for E-Cube number 350.
Another phrasal verb.
Don't forget my community, school.com slash LME.
That's S-K-O-O-L dot com slash L-M-E.
Let's go back in time.
Today we have another fantastic expression to learn.
To mold A into B. To mold something into something else.
That's a type of phrasal verb, isn't it?
To mold something into something else.
Well, M-O-L-D.
That's how we spell it in America.
M-O-U-L-D is how they spell it in British spelling.
To mold something means to shape something.
Okay, so if you want to make Christmas cookies, into what shapes will you mold the cookie dough?
Well, I like to make Christmas cookies and I like to mold my cookies into Christmas trees and Santa Clauses and candy canes.
That's the idea.
I like to mold my Christmas dough, I'm sorry, my cookie dough into Christmas trees.
I like to shape my Christmas cookie dough, or just my cookie dough, into Christmas trees.
Do you understand?
So you can mold something into something else, into a different shape.
But usually, we use this expression regarding people.
Oh, yes.
How can you shape people?
That sounds really cruel.
That sounds really gross.
Well, let's check out a dialogue.
Why do you teach English?
I coach students to be masters of English.
Why?
So that they can change their world.
I want to mold global leaders in every part of the world.
Yeah, I know that might sound silly, but it actually is true.
Why do I teach English?
Because I want to help mold the world into a better place.
I want to help mold people into global leaders all over the world.
So, you know, you might be listening to this podcast and do you want to be a global leader?
Probably not.
You probably don't.
Neither do I However, by speaking English.
If you spoke your language, people in your country, maybe a couple other countries would understand you.
But if you speak English, then many people around the world can understand you.
So maybe one day you say something really funny on the Internet and And maybe that really funny comment becomes popular all over the world.
And let's say you're from Brazil.
And you say something really funny.
And all over the world, people love what you said.
Now, what happens is you have become a representative of your country.
You have become an ambassador of your country.
You have become a global leader and people like you.
You have a great chance right now, in that situation, to give a really good example and to be a really nice person and to say hi to the entire world, because the entire world is watching you.
And if your English is really good, people will be able to understand you.
People will be able to listen to you.
And how do we make the world a nicer place?
By being nice to each other.
And how do we have a chance to be nice to other people?
By communicating.
And what is a good way to communicate with the world?
Well, using English.
And that's where I come in.
My goal is to help as many people as possible become comfortable with English, to enjoy English, to use English and, for some of them, to master English.
And through language, through community, I really believe we can make the world a much better place.
Don't you?
Yeah.
So through English, I want to mold this world into a much better place.
I want to mold the people who listen to my podcasts and videos.
