Easy English Expression, rehashed!
Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane, and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English!
TGIF, thank God it's Friday, and because it's Friday, let's have fun.
Let's study grammar!
Oh gosh, don't you, do you like grammar?
grammar I do not like grammar and usually I tell people don't focus on grammar but sometimes there are sentences that are kind of weird because of the grammar so today's expression is great so enjoy the lesson I think you'll like it let's go back in time today's expression is really great it's this oh i like them okay think of something that you like some food how about hamburgers oh yeah yeah especially my father's hamburgers the way he cooks them on the barbecue Oh, I like them hamburgers.
I like them hamburgers.
Is that grammatically correct?
No. It's wrong, Shane.
You are supposed to say, I like those hamburgers.
But everybody, we do in America have this as an expression and it sounds funny and you're supposed to say it in a funny type of voice.
Do not say, oh, Shane's father's hamburgers.
Oh, yes, I like them hamburgers.
No, that's absolutely wrong.
You should say it like this.
Oh, Shane's father's hamburgers.
Oh, I like them hamburgers.
I like them hamburgers.
Oh, I like them hamburgers Make it exciting, make it funny, make it silly And it sounds absolutely fine Now, yes, you have a chance to use this expression If you go to a restaurant and you're eating something delicious And you want to tell everybody they're delicious Oh, I like them Whatever it is Let's check out a typical dialogue Ooh, I like them chocolate muffins.
They're homemade. Those are homemade?
Yep, I got the recipe from my grandma.
Is your grandma single?
Don't be joking about my grandma.
Oh boy, yes. You know what?
My grandmother has the recipe to the world's greatest chocolate chip cookies.
Now, actually, my grandmother, God rest her soul, she died about 15 years ago.
And I don't know where that chocolate chip cookie recipe is.
Oh, grandma, I'm sure that you gave it to somebody.
After this video, I'm going to have to ask my mother, where is that recipe?
Because those are the best cookies in the world.
Everybody who tries my grandmother's chocolate chip cookies, They all say, oh, I like them cookies.
I like them cookies.
What about my lessons?
Are you enjoying my lesson?
I know sometimes my lessons might be too boring or too difficult.
But overall, are you enjoying my lessons?
Then what can you tell me?
Hopefully you're saying, Coach Shane, I like them lessons.
Lessons. I like them lessons.
Once again, the pattern is, I like them, noun, plural.
Got it? It's grammatically horrible.
But in daily English, you're going to hear it.
Let's listen to the dialogue two more times.
Ooh, I like them chocolate muffins.
They're homemade. Those are homemade?
Yep. I got the recipe from my grandma.
Is your grandma single?
Don't be joking about my grandma.
