All right, to today's expression, let's go back in time.
Today's expression is super good. Now, right now for me, it is November 26th.
Tomorrow, November 27th, Thursday, is Thanksgiving.
Tomorrow is going to be a long day at my mom's house.
It's going to be a great day. Lots of good food.
American football. Lots of cooking and lots of dishes.
Oh, yes. Coach Shane. I even do dishes. Today's expression is I even and then a verb, especially an infinitive.
So tomorrow is Thanksgiving. I'm a guy. Now, be honest.
Do you think in America the man cooks the turkey?
Or let's change that. The dad cooks the turkey or the mom cooks the turkey.
Who cooks the turkey? Yeah, it's true. Almost always the mom cooks the turkey.
Of course, some dads might, but in general, the mom cooks the turkey.
And who watches the football games on TV?
In general, it's the dad. The dad watches the football games on TV.
Who washes the dishes? Generally, it's the mom who washes the dishes, right?
But did you know that I, of course, I watch football on Thanksgiving?
And I also help mom in the kitchen. I don't cook the turkey, but I do help her, you know, move things, cut things.
I do a couple things. And I even do the dishes.
Yes, I do. I even verb. I even wash the dishes.
In this situation... The nuance of I even verb is you might be surprised, but I also.
So listen again. Of course I watch football on Thanksgiving.
And I also help my mother in the kitchen.
And I even wash dishes. Can you feel the difference?
Of course, I watch football. Yes, yes, yes, yes.
I also... Help my mom. Ooh, interesting.
And I even, what? What? And I even wash dishes.
Oh my God, I'm so shocked. That's amazing.
That's the nuance of even in this situation.
Okay? All right, let's check out the dialogue.
It's basically the same conversation. Listen carefully.
You really love to cook, don't you? Yes.
I even love to wash dishes. You're crazy.
You're lazy. Actually, I don't mind washing dishes.
It's therapy. You know, how do we use this?
I want you guys to create your own example.
Let me give you another example for me. I used to smoke cigarettes every day.
I smoked one pack a day. I smoked for over 25 years.
I even smoked in elementary school. Oh, that's so horrible.
It's terrible. Now that's shocking. Can you imagine an elementary school student smoking cigarettes?
That is absolutely terrible. Smoking kills brain cells.
Did I smoke cigarettes as an elementary school student?
Of course not. I'm using it as an example.
That's terrible. That's shocking. Now, I even wash dishes.
That's shocking. That's amazing. That's great.
I even smoked cigarettes in elementary school.
That's shocking. That's amazing. That's horrible.
So when you say I even verb. It might be good.
It might be bad. You really have to listen to the situation.
Okay? And if you can, give me your own example.
I'll tell you how to do that after you listen to the dialogue two more times.
You really love to cook, don't you? Yes.
I even love to wash dishes. You're crazy.
You're lazy. You really love to cook, don't you?
Yes. I even love to wash dishes. You're crazy.
You're lazy. Thanks so much for listening.
