Easy English Expression, rehashed!
Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English everybody.
Coach shane here, how you doing today?
I hope you're doing great.
I hope you are not feeling.
Today's expression, eq number 276, enjoy.
Let's go back in time.
Today's expression is very good and it happened to me today.
I went to a restaurant but Right outside the restaurant there's a waiting area and people were smoking in the waiting area.
Oh my God, I couldn't breathe.
It was absolutely horrible, and I had to wait like 10 minutes.
So I'm by the door, I go outside, then I come back inside, I go outside, back inside.
Oh my God, I felt stifled.
And that is today's expression, to feel stifled.
To feel, to have a feeling, F-E-E-L, stifled, S-T-I-F.
To feel stifled means to feel as though you cannot breathe.
Sometimes it's because of the air quality.
The air quality is so bad you can't breathe, like maybe in a hot sauna.
Or in a smoky room.
But sometimes you feel stifled even though the air is clean.
It's this situation.
When you're in your office and there's a lot of stress.
There's a lot of pressure.
People are loud.
They're bothering you.
You're about to go crazy.
You need to go outside and get some fresh air because you are feeling stifled.
That is the dialogue.
Check it out.
Oh, you look stressed.
I feel so stifled in this office.
Crack a window.
It's not enough.
I need trees.
Yeah, definitely when you're in your office, if you're feeling stifled, you should crack a window.
But sometimes it's not enough.
You need to get out in nature.
At least for me, I don't know.
If you live in a city and you work in an office building, sometimes don't you feel stifled?
Like you need to get outside and get away from the office environment?
You need to or you explode?
Where do you go?
Is there a place near your office where you can relax?
Maybe the air is a little cleaner?
If there is...
Share a picture.
Yeah, why don't you share a picture of the place that you like to go when you feel stifled?
How can you share a picture?
Well, if you're listening on Facebook or if you know my Facebook page, go there and leave your picture.
Or on Twitter, just share a picture and don't forget to include me, at Coach Shane.
Facebook, it's ESL Coach Shane.
Twitter, it's Just coach Shane, the spelling everybody, C-O-A-C-H-S-H-A-N-E.
And of course, on Google+, we have a community.
The community name is Let's Master English.
And once again, leave a picture of the place you go when you feel stifled.
So when you send the message, just do this.
This is where I go when I feel stifled.
Where do you go?
And then include the picture and hopefully we'll get lots of people sharing their pictures.
But I know people listen to this podcast and then they never share.
That's okay.
You're busy.
I understand.
But if you do, if you can, we would love to see the place where you go when you feel stifled.
Me?
Well, I used to live in the city.
It was really bad.
But now I have a new apartment and it's great. farther away from the city.
It's not completely in the country, but it's pretty far away.
And there's a place where there's a bunch of bunnies, rabbits, and I like to go there.
And I will take a picture.
I haven't taken a picture there, but I will take a picture of the place I like to go when I feel stifled.
Check out the dialogue two more times.
Oh, you look stressed.
Oh, I feel so stifled in this office.
Crack a window.
It's not enough.
I need trees.
Oh, you look stressed.
Oh, I feel so stifled in this office.
Crack a window.
It's not enough.
I need trees.
Thanks so much for listening.
