Let's go back in time.
Today's expression is face the music.
You need to Face the music.
It's time for you to face the music.
I need to face the music.
I have to face the music.
What does it mean to face the music?
Well, to face something means to look at it, to stand in front of it and look at it.
So face me.
That means look at me.
Stand in front of me and look at me.
Face the mountain.
That means look towards the mountain.
Don't look at me.
Face the mountain.
I'm going to take your picture.
Should I look at you?
No, no, no.
Face the mountain.
Look at the mountain.
I'll take a picture of you facing the mountain.
So wherever your face is looking, wherever your face is pointing...
That's where you are facing.
In this case, face the music.
Well, how do you face the music?
Music is a sound.
Well, it basically means to look at the direction from where the sound is coming.
But actually, this is an expression.
And what it means is accept the reality.
Accept the The not so good reality.
Face the music means you need to accept the truth, and the truth is not that nice.
It's not what you want.
That's what it means.
It's a strange expression.
So I looked up the origin of this expression and nobody is really sure, but they think it comes from the military and the idea if a soldier was bad then the military would Play the drums.
And that soldier had to look at the drummers and look at every soldier as he left the unit.
So maybe that's where it comes from.
But anyway, it means to accept the reality, accept the truth.
And the truth is not good.
So I'll give you my example.
As you might know, if you've seen my videos, on the top of my head, I'm losing my hair.
Yes.
But sometimes, some guys, they don't want to think they're losing their hair.
So they comb their hair a special way.
They grow their hair really long to cover any hair.
Hair shortages.
Okay, if you're one of those guys, come on, man.
It's time to face the music.
You're losing your hair.
Accept it.
I know it's not a good thing.
I know you might be embarrassed, but hey, it happens.
It's happening to me.
Just accept the fact that you're getting old and you're losing your hair.
It's time to face the music.
Let's check out the dialogue.
Shane, I think you should stop trying to be funny.
But maybe I should make more funny laughs.
No.
It's time to face the music.
You're not funny.
But.
No buts.
Oh.
Yeah, I know.
That's reality for me.
Sometimes, you know, I say something and it's pretty funny.
Sometimes it's not.
But let me tell you, my humor is for me.
If you can laugh and enjoy, that's great.
But if you don't understand my humor, it's time to face the music.
You're not smart enough.
No no though, that's not true, i'm teasing.
No yeah, i know, you know, some people they like humor in their lessons and some people don't, and that's just my style.
So i, you know, i try to use humor, but maybe, maybe i'm not funny.
Maybe i need to face the music and accept the fact that i'm not funny, oh no.
Oh well, if you don't mind, I'll be back again tomorrow.
