Let's go back in time.
Today, oh, I like today's word.
It is jam.
Specifically, we'll study a slow jam.
Let's go back to jam.
A jam actually refers to a song.
Especially a musician who's playing a song might say I'm jamming or let's jam, let's play music.
We do use the expression a slow jam a lot and specifically it refers to slow music, especially music sung by black musicians.
Oh yeah, there are some great slow jams.
Oh, of course white musicians can have slow jams too, but it usually has kind of a bluesy or a jazzy or a funky background.
It's got some beat.
It's got some soul to it.
So a slow jam is a great reference to a music That's very romantic.
That might have a deep voice.
And that melts the women's hearts.
Let's check out the dialogue.
What's your favorite slow jam?
So many.
Let's stay together.
Al Green.
It's a classic.
Oh, yeah.
I got to tell you Al Green was not really my generation of music, but Al Green's song.
The title is Let's Stay Together Now.
Wow, what a beautiful song.
And that is a slow jam, a romantic jam.
Now, like I said, a slow jam, specifically somebody like Al Green would be perfect.
But a jam session.
If we said I'm going to a jam session or let's have a jam session for me, I would think rock music.
People are going to be jamming.
They're playing their guitars really hard.
So it does cover different styles of music.
But once again today.
Let's focus on a slow jam, a song that's very romantic, especially a song sung by a black artist, a song that comes from the 1970s, maybe the 1980s.
Do you know the Commodores?
Oh, yeah.
They've got a lot of slow jams.
Good music.
Now, if you're my age or even older, I want you to think about what your favorite slow jam is.
And if you don't know Al Green, once again, Al, A-L, Green, G-R-E-E-N.
