RIP.
Do you guys know Chuck Norris?
Chuck Norris recently passed away.
He's a famous movie actor.
He was in movies with Bruce Lee.
Can you believe that?
Great guy.
But he passed away, and we use the expression RIP in this case.
So check out the dialogue.

Let's go back in time.
Today's expression is a very special expression.
It is RIP.
R-I-P-E. which stands for rest in peace.
And we use this expression when somebody dies.
Sometimes we say rip.
Sometimes we say rest in peace.
Usually RIP, we write it.
RIP.
So you can listen to, well, for example, today we'll talk about B.B.
King.
B.B.
King was a famous writer. very, very super famous blues singer and guitarist in America.
Maybe you have heard of him.
He's an amazing man.
And he died just a couple days ago, May 14th, 2015.
He was 89.
So if you go to YouTube and you listen to a song by B.B.
King, you can leave the comment, ripped.
And it means rest in peace.
Hope you're in heaven, resting in peace.
Yeah, B.B.
King is one of those people.
You know, many people in the world, famous people, some people love him, some people hate them.
B.B.
King, almost everybody loved because he was a good guy.
He never hurt, well, as far as we know in general, he never hurt anybody.
He never said bad things.
All he did was play his music.
All he did was entertain.
He started with nothing.
Nothing at all.
No money.
His parents were dirt poor.
They had nothing.
He bought his first guitar with his money that he saved for years and years and years.
He taught himself how to play the guitar.
He sang in church.
He was good.
He started moving along.
He got bigger and bigger.
And bigger.
And he never stopped entertaining.
B.B.
King.
What a great American.
Let's check out the dialogue.
Did you hear the news?
What?
B.B.
King died.
Oh, what a shame.
He was such a great entertainer.
May he rest in peace.
Yes, he was an absolute entertainer.
He entertained up until last year, 2014, until he was 88 years old.
Seriously, he never stopped.
He had the gift of making people happy, of making people forget their problems and of putting smiles on people's faces.
And he did it as a young boy.
He did it all through his life.
And now, thanks to YouTube and CDs and MP3s and DVDs and whatever else there is, he can continue entertaining us.
Do you have a favorite B.B.
King song?
I'm a rock boy from the 1980s, so my favorite version is a song that he did with U2.
It's called When Love Comes to Town.
I just think it's such a great song.
And his voice, his guitar, make it extra special.
When Love Comes to Town.
Go check it out.
See if you can find it on YouTube.
It is a great song.
B.B.
King, rest in peace.
Rip, you're going to be missed.
That's today's expression, everybody.
Can you think of someone, maybe in your personal life, In your country, who has died, died recently, well, in English, a nice thing, it's very short, but it's very nice to simply say, RIP, R-I-P, rest in peace.
If you want to be a little bit more formal, just like in the dialogue, may he or she rest in peace.
Practice the dialogue a couple more times and together, let's master English.
