Easy english expression rehashed.
Hello everybody.
My name is coach shane and welcome to easy english expressions.
Come on, let's master english.
Hello everybody.
EQ number 359.
Starting your weekend.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
We've got a great verb today.
Enjoy it.
Let's go back in time.
Today's expression is to be engaged.
Oh, you think you know this expression, don't you?
To be engaged.
You think it means...
To be promised to marry.
So if you are engaged, that means you will be getting married.
You have that special someone.
Your special someone has agreed to get married.
And in the future, you absolutely will get married.
To be engaged, right?
Well, yes, there is that definition.
But there is another definition.
So how many of you have listened to all 354, including today's podcast?
Really?
Wow.
I'm impressed.
Okay.
Right now, I'll tell you.
We have...
I'm not joking.
Millions of listens.
So I know that many of you are listening every day.
And if you are listening every day, it must be that you are engaged.
Perhaps I am engaging.
This podcast is engaging.
Let's check out a dialogue.
Why do you like Coach Shane's English lessons?
Oh!
He keeps me engaged.
What?
You're getting married to Coach Shane?
Whoa!
No!
He keeps me interested.
That's right.
To be interested, to be focused, to have your concentration go one place is to be engaged.
I hope that my podcasts keep you focused.
I hope they make you listen.
I hope they make you concentrate.
If you enjoy my podcasts, if you listen carefully, if you concentrate, if you learn a little bit, then you are engaged.
Engaged if you're practicing the dialogues, if you're practicing the pronunciation, if you're laughing and smiling with me, you are engaged.
That's the idea we're walking hand in hand.
Or, if you don't like that, we're walking next to each other, like in a military file.
We're walking left, right, left, right, left, left, left.
And you are engaged with me.
We're walking together hand in hand studying English.
I'm your English coach.
Isn't that cool?
Yeah.
I hope that my lessons are engaging.
I hope that you enjoy them.
It's my honor to be your English coach.
Thank you so much for listening to this podcast.
And once again, if you can, please tell a friend.
Let's listen to the dialogue two more times.
He keeps me engaged.
