This expression is great.
It means it will never happen.
The likelihood or the possibility is zero.
You can hope that it happens, but it won't.
You can dream that it happens, but it won't.
It'll never fly.
It will never be successful.
It will never happen.
It will never occur.
And the nuance is, forget about it.
When I was young, my dream was to become a Hollywood movie star.
And my dad told me, it'll never fly.
Well, my dad was right.
No, I'm fine.
It'll never fly.
Don't even think about it.
Don't waste your time thinking about it.
It's not going to happen.

So I grew up in Wisconsin.
In Wisconsin, all my neighbors, all my friends, we eat hamburgers and hot dogs and that's it.
If you open up a restaurant that sells bugs –
It's not going to fly.

Forget about it.
It's not going to happen.
Yeah.

Should you tell them it'll never fly or should you just encourage them to try?
You never know.
Sometimes people are successful even though we don't think it's going to happen.
It's possible.
