Easy English Expression, rehashed.
Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English.
Coach Shane here.
How's your Thursday going today?
A phrasal verb.
You understand a phrasal verb.
It's an action verb and a participle, which is another way of saying a preposition.
So like go is an action verb over O-V-E-R.
That's a preposition.
And we put those together.
We can make a special verb.
Again, they're called phrasal verbs.
Some people say two-word verbs.
Well, today we got a great one that I am sure many of you don't know.
Let's go back in time Today's expression to mull something over Okay, to mull something over.
M-U-L-L, mull it that something over.
O-V-E-R, over.
To mull it over.
I will mull it over.
I want to mull it over.
I mulled it over.
What does it mean to mull something over?
It means to think about it very carefully.
And to mull something over means...
To chew on it.
That's basically the idea.
To chew on it.
To have that idea in your head.
That proposal in your head.
That suggestion in your head.
And just keep chewing on the idea.
Thinking about it.
Before you make a decision.
Do you understand?
So today I had to choose a new expression.
Well, I have several to choose from, so I wasn't sure which one I wanted to do.
So I mulled it over.
And I decided to teach this expression and it's a good one.
Whenever you have a serious decision, something that you should think about, you should use this expression.
But, oh, boy, the one he wants to sell you is very expensive before you spend all that money.
Maybe you should mull it over.
You should probably think about it before you spend all that money.
What happens if you buy the wrong thing or you don't need it or you find a better situation?
You need to mull it over.
Don't make a quick decision.
Mull it over.
Let's check out the dialogue.
So, did you buy a new AC?
I'm still mulling it over.
Get one.
It's going to be so hot in the summer.
I know, but air conditioners are expensive.
Yes, as many of you know, I live in the desert.
And oh my goodness, in the summer, it is so hot.
40 degrees is nothing.
40 degrees is a spring day.
So if you live in the desert, like me, like a crazy person you need to have an air conditioner and it needs to work all the time.
But...
Good air conditioners, the best air conditioners are really expensive.
You can still buy some good used air conditioners.
So if you're going to buy an AC, an air conditioner, should you buy a new one?
Should you buy the best?
Should you buy a used one?
It's a difficult decision.
It's a decision that you need to mull over.
I need to mull it over.
Well, fortunately for me, I live in an apartment, so I don't have to buy an air conditioner.
But if I lived in a house, yes, then I would be forced to buy an air conditioner.
What about you?
Do you live in a house?
Do you have to buy an air conditioner?
Do you buy the best?
Do you buy the most expensive?
Do you buy a used one?
What do you do?
When's the last time you had to mull something over?
Let's check out that dialogue.
So, did you buy a new AC?
I'm still mulling it over.
Get one.
It's going to be so hot in the summer.
I know, but air conditioners are expensive.
So, did you buy a new AC?

Thanks so much for listening.
