Hello everybody, Coach Shane here.
We got EQB number 171 coming at you today.
Ooh, very useful expression.
I hope you do not have to use it, but eventually you will.
Enjoy. Let's go back in time.
Today's expression, very similar to a few days ago.
It is, in for a bumpy ride.
ride. Do you remember we studied smooth sailing and then we studied on the rocks?
Well, on the rocks would be similar to in for a bumpy ride.
Okay. So if you are in for a bumpy ride, that That means the journey you are on will be very uncomfortable.
It might even be dangerous.
It will not be smooth.
It will not be easy.
So a great example would be at the office.
You get a new boss and the boss is scary.
Oh boy, the boss comes to work at 5 in the morning and leaves work at 9 o 'clock at night.
and it's very very you know serious boss no sense of humor and it's just terrible you could say oh my god the future will not be fun we are in for a bumpy ride this is not going to be fun another situation could be like something that's happening right now in the united states now this This is October 2014, and everybody is familiar with the Ebola virus.
Very scary, very horrible virus that started in West Africa.
I feel so sorry for everybody who is a victim of this disease.
The virus at this point has also come to Spain and the United States.
And right now, the state of Texas, we could say, may be in for a bumpy ride.
It might be a very serious time for lots of people in Texas, because perhaps that virus has gone from one to three people to other people.
Where, how far that virus has gone, we don't know.
Texans, people in Texas could be in for a bumpy ride.
Yeah, it can be a serious expression Let's check out a dialogue Our company lost the contract Oh, no We're in for a bumpy ride You think we'll lose our jobs?
I hope not Let's get out there and find new clients What a great conversation So two guys at the company Oh boy, the economy is not so good.
They lost a contract.
That means the company is making less money.
They are in for a bumpy ride.
The future will be a bumpy ride.
Do you think we will lose our jobs?
I hope not, but let's be proactive.
Let's find new clients.
That's the answer. Yeah, if you know that you are in for a bumpy ride, don't wait for the problems to come.
Try and do something to make the problems less of a problem.
Maybe you can find a solution.
Maybe there's something you can do to prevent a terrible situation.
