Today's expression is related to a few days ago.
Do you remember? We studied low -key.
Low -key. So a low -key person.
Do they like to be popular?
Do they like everybody to see them, are they very loud people?
No. No. Low key people.
You don't see them too much, even though they may be famous, they're not in the newspaper or in the news every day.
The opposite, however, high profile.
High profile. If someone or something is high -profile, it means it gets a lot of attention.
People see it, hear about it, they see the person, they hear about the person all the time.
So I used Tom Hanks as an example in the last lesson and he is very low -key.
Yes, he's a famous person but we don't hear too much about his personal life.
On the other On the other hand, we've got these other superstars like Britney Spears and Lady Gaga and I don't know who else, Justin Bieber.
These people are very high -profile.
Yep, very high -profile, always in the news.
Let's check out a dialogue.
We need to grow our classes.
Yes, we need to be more high -profile.
Any ideas on how we do that?
Buy everyone who joins a free car?
What? Well, yeah. I think that would work.
If you join DDM, I will send you a free car!
No. It's not true. It's not true.
But if I did that, I think everybody would join DDM.
Yeah, that would definitely put my classes in the media.
Everybody would hear about it.
Everybody would be talking about it.
DDM would be very high profile.
Some of you are asking, what is DDM?
DDM are my classes, my online classes.
They're great fun. Anyway, so once again, high profile.
Something or someone that gets lots of attention.
Everybody can see the person, hear about the person.
He's always in the news.
Now there's another word, high strung.
So low key is like on the piano. The low key.
And the high strung would be the bing, bing, bing.
The higher keys on the piano. You know the keys are connected to a string Like a guitar string, the thin string is the tight string, it's high strung.
So if somebody is high strung, they have a lot of energy, a lot of energy, and they're always moving and making noise.
It's a little bit similar to low key and the words are very much the opposite.
But remember, somebody who is low key, they might have good energy, They're just not loud.
They're not in the public's attention.
So I want you to remember and somebody who's the opposite is always in the media.
We can always find the person or hear the person.
That's high profile.
And somebody who just has tons of energy and they might even make you mad because they too much energy.
That person is high strong.
Okay, so a bunch of good words.
We started with low key then we went to high profile and we ended up with high strong.
