I'm rather upset. Rather.
R -A -T -H -E -R. Rather upset.
U -P -S -E -T. Now, actually rather sometimes means a little and upset has many meanings, but in this expression it means angry.
So, I'm rather upset would actually mean I'm a little angry.
However, when people use this expression, it kind of means they're very angry.
I'm rather upset you didn't call me.
I'm rather upset you were late.
Now, it sounds polite, because the words mean I'm little angry, but once again it actually means I'm very angry.
So if somebody says to you, I'm rather upset with you, you should probably apologize.
What sorts of things make you rather upset?
Let's check out the dialogue.

Huh! You must be shocked!
Well, I'm rather upset.
Oh I would be too. Oh what a terrible dialogue!
Oh my goodness, I just found out, I just discovered I was adopted!
Oh my god! A -D -O -P -T -E -D!
That means that when you were a maybe both of them left you.
They couldn't raise you and somebody else raised you.
Maybe your natural mother and a different father or your natural father and a different mother or maybe just different mom and dad raised you but you didn't know until now.
Oh no this is a nightmare for many people.
Yeah well it happens.
And actually I have a very close friend who had this experience not too long ago.
He just found out he was adopted and I said, wow, that must be shocking.
And he said, yeah I'm rather upset.
And he wasn't a little angry, he was very angry.
He was confused, he didn't know why, he wanted answers.
So I told him I would help him.
If there's anything I could do, I would help him try to find out how he was adopted.
I don't think there's anything I can do, but trying to be a friend in that situation is very good.
Now for me, what upsets me?
What makes me rather upset?
I guess it's when somebody leaves a very negative comment on youtube or someplace when they don't know about all of my lessons they listen to one lesson and they say oh this is garbage you don't know what you're talking about that upsets me they don't know me and they haven't listened to my other videos and you know I'm just a coach I could possibly make mistakes but when I make my videos I try to be careful.
So when somebody leaves a real negative comment I get rather upset Now if they leave a negative comment, and if they give me a suggestion or a good reason Then I'm not upset.
I appreciate that. I like those comments because I need to hear criticism.
I need constructive criticism.
People who not only say something bad, but they give me some advice or they share their opinion.
That's good. But just a negative comment, yeah, that makes me rather upset.
