How is your Thursday?
Today is actually kind of a day off.
I mean, I work every day, but the stress level is low today.
and I don't believe I have to go anywhere, so I'm really, really happy.
What about you? Oh, and of course, we have a fantastic expression.
Let's go back in time.
Today's expression is a good one.
It is a phrasal verb, and it's actually three words.
To put up with. To put up with.
P -U -T, put, get that pronunciation, put, put, put, put up with something or put up with someone.
To put up with someone, to put up with something.
What does it mean to put up with something?
It means to endure, E -N -D -U -R -E.
to endure something, to live with something very uncomfortable, something you do not like, but there's nothing you can do.
So you just keep living and you try to be positive.
So many of you know, I left Korea several months ago, and for a while, I'm in a very hot part of the United States.
I live in the desert, and today, the temperature was 47 degrees Celsius.
this was 114 degrees Fahrenheit.
Oh my God, it is so hot.
You cannot go outside.
You'll die. You'll cook if you go outside.
So what do I do? What does coach Shane do?
Well, I put up with the heat.
I put up with the heat.
I manage. I don't like the heat, but I deal with it.
I endure the heat. Now, I'm lucky.
And actually, everybody who lives here is the same.
We have air conditioners, which keep the air cool.
Or, well, in my case, my indoor temperature is about 30 degrees.
So not too bad. It's not really super cool, but it's better than 47 degrees.
So once again, I put up with it.
I deal with it. I handle the heat.
Let's check out this dialogue.
I can't put up with this anymore.
What? What's bothering you?
The noise. The damn construction.
They'll be here all week.
You'll have to put up with it.
Oh man, that is a terrible situation.
You're at your home or maybe your school and every day you're at home or every day you're at school or at the office But next to your school, next to your office, next to your home, there's construction.
They're building a house or they're building a building, a big building.
And every day, oh, the noise will drive you crazy.
So what can you do?
Well, the easy solution would be to use a bomb and destroy the construction.
But no, there's nothing you can do.
You have to put up with it.
Just like me living in this really hot weather, there's nothing I can do.
I have to put up with it.
you know i i you know i mean i could maybe i could move i could go to another city i could go to another state but that takes a lot of money that takes a lot of energy that takes a lot of time so there's nothing i can do i need to put up with it when i was young well even today i uh i have and I had
a sister, and she's younger than me.
A little sister, they're wild.
They're crazy. My little sister was crazy.
She was wild. But I couldn't do anything.
I had to live at my mom and dad's house.
I needed their food.
So I had to put up with my sister.
Even though I wanted to use a bomb?
No, I did not want to use a bomb.
I had to put up with my sister.

So tell me, everybody, what is it that you have to put up with?
Is there some terrible weather that you have to put up with?
Is it maybe a neighbor, or a brother, or a sister, or a co -worker?
or a person at school that you have to put up with?
Is it maybe your diet?
For example, if you're sick and you're not supposed to have sugar, do you have to put up with bland, tasting food, boring food, no chocolate?
Oh, that would be terrible.
I would hate to have to put up with no sweet foods.
That would not be good.
