Easy English expression.
Rehashed. Hello, everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English.
Coach Shane here. How's your Sunday going?
I hope you're having a great time already.
What? Why did I say already at the end of that sentence?
Well, you're going to find out.
Enjoy the podcast. Let's go back in time.
Today's expression is, let's get started already.
What's today's expression already?
Come on already. Hurry up already.
Did you hear today's expression?
Sometimes at the end of a sentence or at the end of a question, we add the word already.
A -L -R -E -A -D -Y. Just the one word.
Not the two words, already, but the one word, already.
The pronunciation is the same.
So what does it mean?
Well, let me give you an example.
Hurry up already. So hurry up.
Hurry up means do something quickly.
And if we add the adverb already to the end, it means hurry, hurry, hurry.
You should already have done it or have started.
So hurry up already is emphasizing you to hurry up.
What's your question already?
Please tell me your question.
Quit talking about something else and give me your question.
Hurry up already. Come on.
I'm busy. I can't continue to wait.
So if you are in a hurry, if somebody should have already begun something, then you can add already to the end of your statement or your question.
Does that make sense?
Well, let's listen to a dialogue already.
Oh, where's my fried chicken already?
I ordered 30 minutes ago.
Here's your order, sir.
I thought you forgot about me.
With your beautiful voice, how could I?
There you go. So this is a great example.
You go to a restaurant and you order your food, but you keep waiting and waiting and waiting.
Where is the food? It should already be here.
Where is my food already?
Where is my fried chicken already?
So as you can see, the person added already, and basically he's complaining.
Do you understand? So I have a set time that I release this podcast.
So for me, it's every night at 10 p .m.
I publish a new podcast, but I worry someday, maybe in the future, I might forget or I might be late.
In that situation, you could say, where is Shane's podcast already?
It should already be here.
Where is it? I'm waiting.
Hurry up. Got it? Okay, I promise I'll do my best not to be late.
It's not easy. It's not easy every day.
No holiday. Let's listen to the dialogue two more times.
Where is my fried chicken already?
I ordered 30 minutes ago.
Here's your order, sir.
I thought you forgot about me.
With your beautiful voice, how could I?
Where is my fried chicken already?
I ordered 30 minutes ago.
Here's your order, sir.
I thought you forgot about me.
With your beautiful voice, how could I?
