Easy English Expression.
Rehashed! Hello, everybody.
My name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English.
Coach Shane here. How you doing?
How's your Sunday? My cold?
Yeah, it's getting better.
You can probably hear my nose.
It's still kind of bad.
But my favorite day of the week is coming up tomorrow, so I think everything will be okay.
Monday is my favorite day of the week.
You too? If you disagree, then you need today's expression.
Let's go back in time.
Today's expression is...
I beg to differ. I beg to differ.
This is an excellent expression when you disagree with somebody else.
I beg... B -E -G. And B -E -G.
Oh, please, give me some money, please, give me some food.
I beg to differ. D -I -F -F -E -R.
So, I beg to differ actually means, please let me tell you my different thoughts.
It means, I disagree.
So, if you're talking with somebody and they say something that you don't agree with, if you say, I disagree, that can actually make the listener feel bad.
Maybe that you are ignoring what they have to say, or maybe you think they're ignorant or stupid.
But if you say, I beg to differ, it's much more polite.
So, especially in a public negotiation, maybe in a business sales meeting if somebody says, but your product is no good.
Oh, I beg to differ.
That's really the most polite way to disagree with somebody.
It's a great expression.
I beg to differ. Let's check out the dialogue.
Don't these Uggs look good on me?
I beg to differ. What?
You look like a gay cowboy.
Uggs are for women.
Yes, yes, I did say you look like a gay cowboy.
Don't worry, I'm not offending anybody.
It's the reality. We're talking about Uggs, U -G -G -S.
If you do not know what Uggs are, they're a type of boot.
You know, like a cowboy boots, but they're not a cowboy style.
Just go to Google images and type Uggs.
U -G -G -S. It's a type of boot.
And lots of women like these boots.
And some men wear these boots too.
But I'm sorry. 99 % of the guys that wear Uggs look stupid.
Now that's just my opinion, but I think they look stupid.
Do you disagree with me?
I think they look like gay cowboys.
If you disagree with me, you can say, shut up, or you can say, I disagree.
But you can also say, I beg to differ.
I beg to differ. What is your opinion?
Guys wearing Uggs. Yeah, I'm sorry.
You know, I'm sorry.
That's how I feel. It looks stupid.
Guys should not be wearing Uggs.
If you disagree, let me know.
Check out the dialogue two more times.
Don't these Uggs look good on me?
I beg to differ. What?
You look like a gay cowboy.
Uggs are for women.
Don't these Uggs look good on me?
I beg to differ. What?
You look like a gay cowboy.
Uggs are for women.
