It doesn't have to be Sunday doesn't have to be Monday You started yesterday, maybe anyway today.
We have a really good expression And I hope if you like today's expression.
I'm gonna use it right now I hope that you listen to this rehash of e cubed for more than a year Are you gonna do that because I'm gonna be here Knock on wood.
Let's go back in time Today's expression is knock on wood knock on wood Knock on wood to knock knock on Wood W -o -o -d so right now I am knocking on wood But what does this expression mean?
We use this expression when we hope That our luck our good luck will continue or when we hope that bad luck doesn't come to us so for example I can say I Haven't had a cold in six months knock on wood And what that means is during the past six months.
I haven't had a cold No cold at all, but do I want a cold of course not I want my luck to continue so I say knock on wood and in America we don't just say Knock on wood.
We also look for wood and we knock Okay How about another example?
Nobody in my family has died of heart disease knock on wood Do you understand so so far in my family's history?
Nobody has died of heart disease, and I hope that that luck will continue Okay Let's check out the dialogue You broke your arm again, yeah This is my third time I've never broken my arm knock on wood.
It's no big deal Isn't that true some people They seem to break their arm or their leg or their foot all the time And like other people never break anything What about you do you?
break things Maybe your bones or glasses or computers Well me.
I'm pretty lucky. I don't break bones.
I don't break glasses, and I don't break computers Knock on wood a lot.
I hope I never do This is a great expression So when you want your luck to continue or if you want if you if you want to prevent Bad luck from coming you can describe how you've been lucky so far and then add knock on wood You broke your arm again, yeah This is my third time I've never broken my arm
