Easy English expression rehashed.
Hello, everybody. My name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English.
Hello, everybody, Coach Shane here in this podcast, which is of course number 11.
Pure nonsense. You're going to find out my actual age.
So if you don't want to listen to the podcast, I'll tell you the answer right now.
My actual age is 29.
Are you ready for the podcast?
Let's go back in time.
Today's expression is.
That's pure nonsense.
That's pure nonsense.
That is pure. P -U -R -E 100 % nonsense.
N -O -N -S -E -N -S -E. That's pure nonsense.
That is a complete story.
That is absolutely not true.
It doesn't make any sense.
This is a great expression.
Now, I know many of you, you hear my voice and you guess that Coach Shane, his age is probably 24, 25.
Well, that's pure nonsense.
That is absolutely not true.
My actual age is 29.
Yeah, that's that's pure nonsense too.
Now I'm 46 as of 2014, May 12.
I'm 46 years old. I'm an old man.
I'm halfway done with living here on earth.
That's pure nonsense.
I'm going to live until I'm 150.
So this is a great expression.
If somebody tells you something that is absolutely not true.
You don't believe it.
You can say that's pure nonsense.
In 2014, we have the Brazil World Cup, the football or soccer championships.
And I think everybody will agree that the United States soccer team will be the World Cup champions.
Ole, ole, ole, ole, we are the champs.
We are the champs. What?
Did, did you just say that's pure nonsense?
Let's check out a dialogue.
You're sitting too close to the TV.
I'm comfortable. Your eyesight is going to get bad.
Oh, that's pure nonsense.
Yep, so many mothers and fathers tell their children, do not sit close to the TV because your eyes will get bad.
Your eyesight will get bad.
Your eyesight will become poor.
But the guy says that's pure nonsense.
And actually, that's what science says.
Science says it does not matter how close you sit to the TV.
It will not affect your eyesight.
So all the moms and dads in the world, I'm sorry.
It's just not true.
If your son or daughter wants to sit really close to the TV, if they want to sit on top of the TV, that's okay.
Regarding their eyesight, it's okay.
Yeah, saying that your eyes will go bad because you're sitting too close to the TV is pure nonsense.
Now, I want you guys to leave me a message.
Go to Twitter at Coach Shane, go to Facebook, ESL Coach Shane, and give me an example of something that is pure nonsense.
One hundred percent nonsense.
Can you think of a good example?
Well, leave a message for me, okay?
Let's listen to that dialogue two more times.
You're sitting too close to the TV.
I'm comfortable. Your eyesight is going to get bad.
Oh, that's pure nonsense.
You're sitting too close to the TV.
I'm comfortable. Your eyesight is going to get bad.
Oh, that's pure nonsense.
And that's it for today.
