We've all seen the headlines in the news of how somebody lost their life in an act of cold -blooded murder, and it grabs your attention.
But have you ever stopped to think about the life of the person at the center of the news story?
These victims were way more than a salacious headline.
I'm Eric Carter -Lon Dean, and my podcast, The Murder in My Family, dives into some of those stories to help listeners get to know the person who was lost, and how their death affected those closest to them.
Listen to the Murder in My Family everywhere you listen to podcasts.

Let's go back in time!
Today's expression is a scary expression.
This is not good. Listen carefully!
I overslept. I overslept.
I overslept. Now that's one word.
O -V -E -R -S -L -E -P -T. Do you remember?
A few days ago, we studied, I slept in.
So, I overslept is very different.
I slept in is a great expression.
It means you slept without using an alarm clock.
You didn't have any work to do.
It was very relaxing.
However, if you say, I overslept, that means you woke up late.
Maybe you were late for work or late for school.
I overslept. Oh, that's not a good thing.
If you oversleep, you probably will have a problem.
Sleeping in is great.
Oversleeping is a nightmare.
Let's check out a dialogue.
Where have you been?
I'm sorry, boss. I overslept.
Again? I'm sorry. It won't happen again.
Oh, boy. Have you ever had that experience where you overslept and maybe you went to work late or you went to school late or maybe you just missed a class or an appointment or something else important?
Uh -huh. Uh -huh. Did you tell the truth?
Did you tell the person, I'm sorry, I overslept?
Or did you make a different excuse?
Um, I was in a car accident.
Um, I was helping my grandmother.
What kind of excuses have you used?
Or do you tell the truth when you oversleep?
It happens to everybody.
I don't think you should be embarrassed.
Okay, that is it. I overslept is our key expression.
Let's listen two more times.
Where have you been?
I'm sorry, boss. I overslept.
Again? I'm sorry. It won't happen again.
Where have you been?
I'm sorry, boss. I overslept.
Again? I'm sorry. It won't happen again.
Thanks so much for listening.
