Life stories.
Life stories.
So who's going to go first?
I'll go first.
So this happened to me.
Quiet.
Okay.
So this happened to me, like, in, like, my first days of middle school.
So I went to a school that gave out, like, stickers if you were essentially good.
However, some students started asking, like, some teacher, well, like, this one guy for them, and he said, yeah, and I was like, I want them, like, I thought I was gonna get them, like, really quickly, but, like, I didn't, I only got, like, 10 of them in the entire year, and, okay, and, um, one of the, um, and, um, on the first, whoa, one of my first days of science class, um, there, we got to share, um, some stuff about ourselves, and whoever had the best presentation would get one of those stickers, but I misheard, and I thought everyone was gonna get a sticker, like, with, like, them, and I was, this was so, so, so embarrassing for me so um when i was done with like my presentation essentially i thought i was gonna get one i kind of stood up there and asked the teacher for one she said and she just reminded me kind of sternly only if yours was the best and like i was like So I just walked down to my seat and I was like quiet for the rest of the class.
And I've been trying to erase that memory from my head until now.
So I guess I can't.
So, um, who wants to go next?
That sounds very embarrassing.
I have, um...
I have another embarrassing one.
Is it the Minions story?
Yep.
So some people who I've told know how bad this one is.
But I was quite young.
I was like 9 or 10.
And I went to summer camp.
And my summer camp had a talent show where and this summer camp was for like, fine arts, so a lot of the kids there were like super talented.
They were like great at a musician, like they were great at an instrument and they were great at an instrument, or like they were amazing singers actors, like pretty much anything they were great at.
And so earlier that day, the day of the talent show, my cabin went to the camp store and we all, like accidentally, just happened to get the same hoodie with, like the camp logo on it.
And it was like a bright yellow hoodie.
I don't know.
It was just like the vibe.
Um, and so we all decided that night at the, when we couldn't come up for, come up with like a topic or like a what's the word idea, an idea for our like presentation for the talent show.
We all were like hmm, what could we do with our matching yellow hoodies, like it could be a uniform.
And we realized, when we had the yellow hoodies on and we pulled the strings of the hoodies tight, it kind of like made us look like minions.
And so that night for the talent show, All of the amazing other like campers, like sang, acoustic versions of like Jolene.
They sounded beautiful.
Some kids rapped, and it was great.
A kid played like yo ma, like yo yo mama, yo yo ma, yo mama, yo yo ma, yo yo ma.
Yeah, that's yo yo ma on his violin and they were all like great, like they got standing ovations because it was amazing.
And then okay, not standing ovations but like tons of clapping, and my group went up onto the stage and we decided and we performed our choreographed minions dance to our own song that we wrote.
What was the song like?
It was something like can you sing for us?
I'm not gonna sing, but it was like we are the minions, we are the minions over and over again.
And then the two girls that didn't have hoodies, they were like Gru and the doctor dude from the movies um, and yeah, we sang like a whole three verses of that song with a choreographed dance, oh my god.
And we ended in our final pose and nobody clapped At all, except for like two counselors who were just nice and I remember walking off the stage and sitting back down on the floor where because that's where everyone was sitting and like pulling the strings on my hoodie even more tight and like my face was like tomato red because that was just like so embarrassing.
But yeah, that's my story, that's wonderful.
So i have a story where i was able to correct a camp counselor and be smug about it.
But this story goes back to a camp that i was at And I won't say the name of it, mostly because well, the name is kind of weird.
But What's the name?
Well, I'm not going to say.
So I'm just going to say... Go on, but I'm curious.
Heavy, shut... I mean, this is not your story.
Be quiet.
So, anyways, I was at the camp, and...
When I went there, there was one night where I was playing basketball with my grandpa, because he's really cool.
I apparently was late to one of the events, so I went down towards the trail where they were doing one of these events.
You know, the snipe from up, like the mystical creature from the movie up um well um, basically they had kind of stolen that idea.
I had already known beforehand that it was called a snipe but um, because we were very, very little when we did this, you know um, they got together and they said to us so we're going to be on the hunt for the snipe and stuff like that.
So we went down the trail, stuff like that.
And so I knew in my brain, like, oh, there's no such thing as a snipe.
And so...
It was kind of boring, but at the same time, you know, whatever, it was fun.
I was with my buds, my pals.
And so basically what happened was we went over there and we looked at the lake for a little bit and they said they saw ripples in the lake and the counselor said to us this is the Snipes layer and stuff like that.
Yada, yada, yada.
When we were about to leave, we heard rustling and then saw what I now know and even then knew was a turkey run across there.
And I said with the biggest smile on my face, oh, is that the snipe?
And then they had to be like, well.
And then I just like kind of left them speechless.
And eventually when we went back, I told my grandparents about it in the cabin.
And I said to them, well, I outsmarted a counselor.
You found the snipe.
That's funny.
Was this Camp Michigania?
No, it was a different camp.
It's Maya Angelou's camp, right?
Wait, can I share next?
No, we're going in circles.
Yeah.
Okay.
So I was at this fifth grade camp for my elementary school and like all year it's kind of like the eighth grade trip for Emerson, but all year it was just like hyped up and everyone was like oh, this is going to be so fun.
I really want to go.
Where did you go?
I forget the name of it, but we did like a survival day before okay, and this was like who can start the biggest fire?
Um, out of out of that sounds like okay, really really not safe.
They did counselor, they did like give us counseling on like how to start a fire okay so, And then, and then we brought food there.
So we like roasted the hot dogs.
And so I was in a group of all boys.
This is terrible.
And and so they were just messing around and I was like collecting leaves, like the instructor guy told the three groups to go to um, and so i was just collecting that like them, and one of the guys comes up to me.
It's just like you realize that there's no reward for this, like we're just doing this for nothing, we're just giving them a fire.
That was embarrassing.
I thought the story was going to spiral into like the fire Got bigger and bigger and then burned down the whole camp.
Wait, that's it?
Yeah.
No, it's a great story.
And it was like a practical joke on me.
It was really embarrassing.
I'm sorry, Evie.
I'm sorry.
I was embarrassed in front of the entire school.
That was really short.
Do you want to tell another story?
No.
No?
Okay.
So when I was maybe 10, I think, me and my family went to Boyd Mountain.
And there was this lake, and we had this villa near the lake.
And one day we decided, hey, let's go swimming in the lake.
And it was really fun.
It was a really nice lake.
There were a lot of people.
And so I went up to my mom and I was like, hey, I'm going to go swim.
And I gave her my glasses and I went into the lake.
And I really like swimming.
So I was...
Swimming really far and I decided hey this this is really shallow.
I'm gonna go to the deep end But this wasn't a pool It didn't have any walls.
I could go wherever I wanted.
So I kept swimming, and I kept swimming just like Dory did.
And then it might have been maybe two hours since I was in the lake.
And then I looked up and I saw my dad in a canoe and he was yelling my name and I was like hi dad, are you gonna canoe to the other side of the lake?
And he was yelling at me and he was saying emma, where were you?
And i was like oh, i was just swimming.
And he told me to get in the canoe.
And i was like, but this is just a one-person canoe.
And he he told me, get in the canoe.
And i was like um, okay.
So i hopped in, but i had to sit on the back because it was a one-person canoe and there was only one seat.
So then my dad started paddling, but because there were more than one person, the canoe started to shake.
And my dad, he didn't have a swimsuit on.
He was in his clothes, and the canoe shaked, and we both fell.
It shook.
The canoe shook, and we both fell.
So loud.
I hope that bursts your ear again.
Um anyways continue continue, anyways.
So we both fell into the lake and my dad started screaming and he was like, oh my god, you got me soaking wet.
And then he started screaming swear words in spanish and then, and then i just for our sake.
And then I look up and I see Angela, my sister, and my mom and Angela's staring at me with these giant binoculars and I'm like, And I'm like, No binoculars.
They were binoculars.
They were binoculars.
And so I'm like I get up and then my mom starts running to me and she hugs me and she's like Emma, where were you?
And then I started looking around and I noticed there's a police car.
I hear sirens and there are policemen walking around the perimeter of the lake and then my mom says emma, we called the police, we thought you were missing.
My mom also tried to get like a search, like helicopter go over there.
This reminds me this is a shorter story, but oh wait, oh sorry, sorry anyways.
So um, Everyone was staring at me.
They were like oh, they were whispering to each other and they were like oh, my God, they found the missing kid.
Oh my God.
And so my mom was like.
She hugged me one last time and walked me to the police officers and told them I found her.
And so the police officers gave me a clipboard, and they said, fill out all this information.
And so I had to fill out my name, and I had to fill out.
Your name.
That's all you had to fill out?
No.
I'm not done, Evie.
And I had to write what happened to me and stuff like that.
And then after I was done, my mom hugged me again.
And then the police officers left.
And then my mom gave me a whole lecture about not swimming in the lake for that long and not going that far.
You had to include all the details about your mom hugging you every single time.
She hugged me a lot.
She did.
And I guess the moral of this story is to listen to your parents.
Well, she didn't tell me beforehand.
But just don't swim too far.
Don't swim too far from the coast.
Don't swim too far in the lake.
Don't swim too deep in the deep end.
There will be consequences.
The end.
Okay.
So Dottie and I, we have a joint story because we both experienced this, or well, Emma did too.
It was okay, I'll do.
I'll do the first half of you do the second.
I'll do like how it started, okay yeah, like the consequences, okay.
So basically um, Dottie came, oh yeah.
So basically I kind of forgot what this was for.
I think it was kind of a small little party.
Oh yeah yeah, thanksgiving.
And Dottie came over to Emma and me and Emma's house.
Basically yeah, it was a Thanksgiving dinner and it was kind of like a party and we were having fun.
And we decided and it was around and it was around like 5pm.
And we decided to go outside and take a bike ride to like the playground, because who doesn't love the playground?
So, you know, we went to the playground and we were like 10 yeah, we were like 10, it was like fourth grade and there was a little like trail that led into the woods, like right next to the playground, and we usually, we usually go there a lot.
Yeah, we wanted to see a dead deer and i don't know why, but we went through the forest and, even though the dead deer wasn't even in the forest, we were in sneakers too.
Yeah, and it was, and it was two feet of snow.
Yeah, it was not two feet, it was like five inches of same thing.
But yeah and yeah, so it was winter time and we were in sneakers and like sweatpants and coats, so i don't know what, yeah.
But so we went into the woods and we've been.
We thought like oh, it's gonna be fine, like we usually go we, because we went to those was a lot, but for some reason we kind of forgot, like what trail to take.
So we just went into the woods and yeah dotty um, and then We just like walked around for a bit and then we stopped and we realized oh um, We've been here for a while.
Yeah, we've been here for, like, an hour or so.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
And then we just kept walking, trying to find our way out.
And then we came across this really big iced-over log that went across log fallen tree, same thing that went across this and like stream thing, and so we decided well, we're gonna call that, we're that, we're gonna cross this stream.
Um, so we decide to to climb onto the fallen tree log thing, Then walk across the Bridge to Terabithia reference.
Yeah.
Then walk across the stream.
And then... Angela goes first.
And she makes it over fine.
I go after.
And I make it over fine.
But then... Emma decides to go.
And she's like halfway to the, to the other side.
When she like slips into a stream and gets her, they get like both of her like feet.
I'm like wet then.
So now her feet are like freezing cold, soaking wet, terrible.
And then, And then we just needed to make it back.
And then eventually, after like two, three hours in the woods, in the cold, in the dark, we found our way out.
But it was through this guy's backyard.
And the guy got, like, super mad at us and yelled at us when we went out through his yard.
And then, basically, in the end, we eventually saw my mom's car.
And she picked us up and brought us home.
And the whole world was safe.
The end.
The last story.
Oh.
I think we have to wrap it up, like, for sure.
But it was very fun.
So, Emma?
