The country's railways expect a peak passenger flow of nearly 18 million passenger trips with over 1200 additional trains running.
The China Civil Aviation Administration also estimates almost 2 million passenger trips on Monday.
Over the three -day holiday, officials say they expect to see around 657 million cross -regional trips, marking a 3 % increase over a year ago.
Zhao Qifeng has more on some of the economic trends among travelers during the holiday period.
First of all, a lot of people were choosing cooler weather.
Many people headed to grassland regions and coastal cities to beat the heat.
At the same time, they were also looking for outdoor escapes such as camping.
Cities such as Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Kunming saw a clear spike in outdoor leisure bookings, which means Chinese travelers now do prefer a more relaxed and more natural -based type of travel, especially among younger Chinese families.
There was also a clear popularity for participating and watching traditional dragon boat races, not just for locals but also for foreign travelers whose attendance at such events saw a spike of around 60 % compared with regular days.
Also with this year's Dragon Belt Festival holiday overlapping with Children's Day, the number of family travelers has seen a clear increase, in fact a 12 % increase compared with the same period last year.
Cultural and educational tourist destinations such as the Palace Museum and the National Museum of China has seen an increase in traveler numbers of around 19 % compared with regular days, which means there is also a growing demand for educational tourism.

Over 1 ,000 residents and tourists in Ningbo have taken part in activities to learn how to make zongzi, a glutinous rice dumpling wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves.

Residents in Guizhou province also held a single bamboo drifting event where participants balanced themselves on a bamboo pole flowing on a river.
Some locals in Shangri -La Yunnan celebrated the festival by holding horse races.
Yang Jinghao has more on how the tradition among the local ethnic groups becomes a major cultural event.
It is a game of speed, passion and tradition.
Why much of China celebrates the Dragon Boat Festival with boat racing?
Here in Shangri -La, home to a majority of the Tsung ethnic group, known in the West as a Tibetan ethnic group, the holiday takes on a different rhythm, horse racing.
Recognized as a provincial level intent for cultural heritage, this horse racing festival traces its roots back centuries.
Once across this gathering, it has evolved into a government -supported cultural showcase, lending ethnic traditions, tourism, and economic exchange.
Horses have long played a vital role in the daily life of the Zhang people.
And while they are no longer a primary means of transport, horseback riding remains a cherished tradition and a symbol of cultural pride.
The event brings together ethnic communities from across the country, from nearby Sichuan Guizhou to Inner Mongolia in the Far North.
It feels incredibly exciting.
I am really impressed by the event.
Every rider is giving it their all out there, showing both spirit and style.
I am really enjoying that energy.
It feels great. The atmosphere, the people, everything has been wonderful.
I am really satisfied.
And if I get the chance, I will come again next year.
Around the arena, spectators set up tents and mark the holiday in their own ways, sharing barbecue, dancing and playing xiansi, a traditional local strain instrument, turning the grasslands into a vibrant display cultural heritage.
During festive occasions like this we always play the shanzi.
For example, when guests to come from afar we sing a welcome song.
In the lyrics, we often compare the guests to a golden sun bringing warmth to us, just like the sun shining from a distance.
Tianze Wanmo has run an orchestral club in Shangri -la for nearly 20 years, she says she's glad to see the tradition gaining new momentum This year, we had around 400 horses competing I hope even more people will come to Shangri -La next year not just to race but to feel our special horse culture and experience our food traditions I truly hope the festival continues to grow year by year With this breathtaking landscapes and vibrant ethnic culture, Shangri -La has long attracted visitors from across China and beyond.
Local authorities say they will continue to promote the horse racing festival as a signature event to raise the city's profile and fuel tourism development.
That was Yang Jinghao reporting.

Russia and Ukraine have stepped up attacks on each other ahead of scheduled peace talks this week.
The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that Ukraine launched drone strikes targeting military airfields across five regions on Sunday, including a military base in Siberia.
Ukraine said the operation was its longest range attack of the conflict – and it involved over 100 drones and it said it struck 41 Russian military planes.
The Ukrainian Air Force said Russia launched over 470 drones and fired seven missiles.
Audrey McAlpine has more from Keefe.
It's known as Operation Spider Web, this operation that took place targeting those four military targets in Russia.
And it is probably the most significant drone attack by Ukraine in the past three years.
Of course, it took out major fighter jets and also reached far flung regions of Russia up in the Arctic Circle as well as in parts of Siberia and bringing it to question, again, of the range and the sophistication that Ukraine is able to carry out these attacks in Russia.
The delegation will be led by the defence minister, Umarov, and Zelensky made a post on actually saying that the priorities would of course be for this unconditional ceasefire but also for a prisoner exchange and as well for the return of what he called abducted children.
Now he also said that they would discuss this long lasting piece but again in light of these attacks it's hard to say what the result of these talks will be.
That was Audrey McAlpine reporting.
Russian officials say explosions caused the collapse of two bridges and derailed two trains in the country's west. A blast in the Briansk region bordering Ukraine brought down a onto a railway, derailing a passenger train to Moscow and killing seven people.
A railway bridge in neighboring Kursk region also blew up, derailing a freight train and injuring the driver.
Russia's investigating the two incidents as acts of terrorism.
Dasha Chernyshova has more from Moscow.
In the Kursk region, it was the freight train that has derailed as a result of the bridge collapse which we understand was exploded, That's only the driver got injured.
And he's in hospital at this stage.
But in the Briansk region, the situation is very different.
We know that there were 388 people on board of that train that was moving from the Briansk region to the Russian capital.
And so when the bridge was on the move, the car bridge collapsed onto that train.
And we know that the first two cars of that train got derailed.
At least seven people got killed, and more than 70 got injured.
There are children who have been screaming under the rubble of that train.
They have been delivered to capital Moscow for the urgent medical treatment.
And Moscow has been saying that this is an attack that is taking place not coincidentally ahead of the negotiations that are now due to take place in Istanbul.
That was Dasha Chernyshova reporting.
The Gaza Health Ministry says an incident on Sunday near a food distribution site in southern Gaza, killed over 30 Palestinians and injured nearly 170 others.
Witnesses reported Israeli soldiers firing on people trying to collect aid.
Israel's denied the claims. The International Committee of the Red Cross said its field hospital in Rafah received nearly 180 casualties.
The Israel and U .S.-based Gaza Humanitarian Foundation released a video showing that there were no deaths or injuries at the distribution point.
Hamas has confirmed its readiness to begin indirect talks immediately with Israel for a ceasefire in Gaza.
Israel's not yet responded.
Ramy Amaghary has more from Gaza.
And the central Gaza Strip, a town of Knoxrat and Elbe rage, actually near the Netaream junction, junction where there is a distribution center that is run by the Gaza humanitarian Foundation, there was one person killed and others injured.
As people approached the area to get the supplies, they have been promised to get by those, by that institution.
The Israeli army is there now in the Don in Rafah City.
There was a very deadly, a very deadly shootout by the Israeli army that claimed the lives of about forty Palestinians.
Forty Palestinians are supposed to be hungry, to be starving out of the lack of supplies, lack of communities, goods, and the territory.
It's expected that in the upcoming days there is some kind of expectation that there will be some more truckloads entering the territory.
But the situation on the ground is already tense, with Israeli army actions continue unabated in all over parts of the territory with Israeli army increasing or actually stepping up its actions in the northern parts of the Gaza Strip." That was Ramy Amigare reporting.
Foreign ministers from Arab countries have reiterated efforts to get Israel to stop its war on Gaza and advance the Palestinian right to an independent state.
The Arab Islamic Ministerial Committee made the remarks in a virtual meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Amman on Sunday.
The minister has said the two -state solution is the only path to lasting peace, pledging to rally broader international recognition for the Palestinian state.
A military solution is useless and cannot bring security to either side.
There must be a political and ultimate solution.
In this regard, the pressure and stance of the international community are very crucial.
But this still requires more impetus, clearer goals and definite directions.
Our aim is to stop the aggression in Gaza, facilitate a ceasefire and promote the hostage exchange.
What we pursue is a just peace that guarantees the security of all people, satisfies the right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent free and sovereign state and ensures the security of Israel.
Jordan's foreign ministry said Israel blocked the Arab delegation's entry to the West Bank.
In Gaza City on Sunday, desperate Palestinians queued in long lines at a community kitchen hoping for a meagre serving of food.
If they filled, they eat.
If they don't, I swear they go to bed hungry.
And I don't have money to buy anything and everything is expensive.
My husband doesn't work, he is unemployed and he was wounded anyway.
He was just recently healed.
What can we do? Thank God.
My little girl tells me I am craving bread but I don't have 80 shekels or 70 shekels to buy a kilowatt flour.
From where should I get it?
If they ever stop the food distribution, I swear the kids will starve to death.
I swear to God, we will starve to death.
If there is no food distribution, it is over.
Experts warn that Gaza faces imminent famine without increased aid.
The war began in 2023 when Hamas -led militants killed more than 1 ,200 people in Israel and abducted 251.
Fifty -eight hostages remain in captivity.
Israel's military response has killed over 54 ,000 people, mostly women and children.

Eight people have been injured after a man threw incendiary devices into a pro -Israel demonstration in Colorado.
The suspect was heard chanting, free Palestine at the scene in Boulder.
He's now in custody.
The FBI is investigating the attack as an act of terrorism.
The incident happened less than two weeks after a fatal shooting of two Israeli embassy employees in Washington.
Ita Sti and Chena Smor.
The latest briefing by the Boulder County Police Department, in which they summarized the incident.
This incident happened in a outdoor shopping mall, the Pearl Street shopping mall, in a crowded, busy time of the day on Sunday afternoon.
And it came, the attack came in the form of a Molotov cocktail attack in a crowd of people, including a group of people who were demonstrating at the time.
This was a group that apparently regularly goes to that specific area at this time of the week on Sunday afternoons to demonstrate about the Israeli hostages that are currently being kept in Gaza.
And they are defined as anywhere from minor to severe injuries.
All of them are burnt injuries and they were triaged to different hospitals at the time.
We understand at least two of them were airlifted.
Those were obviously the heavier injuries.
And the police just confirmed that at least one of those people are in critical condition.
The name of the suspect, the suspect they have in custody, the police department said was Mohamed Suleiman, and they've also said that currently they believe that this was a loan attack.
They believe this is the only suspect for this attack that they currently have in custody.
They were not making any conclusions yet.
Now, we've heard from FBI, however, they've already defined this as a targeted terror attack.
For now, there seems to be a different picture being painted with the police not speaking about the motive yet.
But the FBI already calling it a targeted terror attack.
That was Edyas Tianshan reporting.
Gunmen fired at least 80 shots in a North Carolina neighborhood during a house party early Sunday, killing one person and injuring 11 others.

No arrests at this time as of this briefing.
Certainly, in circumstances where there's a large gathering of people that have come for some common event like a party that nobody lives here, no one's local to here, they all leave. We're trying to track those people down.
We're going to meet a lot of people this morning about 70 or so, still looking to interview more people that were here.
And it has been difficult to find those people and to encourage people that might not have the inclination to be truthful to otherwise help us out in this investigation.
Eyewitnesses say many people attending the party were from nearby high schools.

It's 23 past the hour, conservative candidate Carol Naraki has narrowly won Poland's presidential run off election held over the weekend.
Naraki's secured just over 50 % of the vote, narrowly defeating Warsaw Mayor Rafal Terczykowski.
An early exit poll on Sunday evening initially indicated a potential victory for Terzakowski, however updated counts later in the night reversed the trend and ultimately favored Naraki.
Naraki will succeed President Andre Duda, also a conservative, whose second and final term concludes on August the 6th.
According to the Polish constitution, the president serves a five year term, and may be re -elected once.
Mexican voters are heading to the polls to choose federal and local judges, and the country first election for members of the judiciary.
President Claudia Schienbaum's administration says the vote will help to reduce corruption and nepotism.
Frank Contreras has more from Mexico City.
We're at voting station number 4291 in a Mexico City neighborhood.
It's one of thousands of voting stations set up across the country.
People have been casting their ballots for local and federal judges, including judges that will sit on Mexico Supreme Court.
This is the first time in history that Mexican voters will choose their judges instead of them being appointed on merit and experience.
Voters are given a ballot with the names of dozens of candidates vying for key positions in Mexico's judicial system.
I like it because we have the right to elect those who will apply the laws and the punishments and everything that has to do with the justice system.
The criminals were the ones who ruled it.
President Claudia Schoenbaum says Mexico's judiciary system suffers from nepotism and corruption and needs a major makeover.
She says Sunday's elections are the best way to do that.
Schoenbaum's Morena party, which holds the presidency and the majority in the legislature and state governments, passed a sweeping constitutional reform in 2024, opening the way for voters to choose new judges.
Mexicans who oppose the election say the outcome could likely give the Morena Party full control of every branch of government.
Opponents say it weakens checks and balances and will lead to a one -party state and unfair influence by organized crime.
Some public opinion polls expect voter turnout to be low in this historic election, somewhere around 20%, largely because voters do not know the candidates.
Voting stations across Mexico close at 6pm local time.
When this unprecedented election is finished, Mexico will become the only nation in the world where every judge, in every court, is elected by a popular vote." That was Frank Contreras reporting.
South Korean voters are heading to the polls to elect a new leader following the impeachment and removal of former President Yoon Seok Hyul.
Yoon's brief declaration of martial law in December plunged the country into political turmoil.
Sahen Ham has more on the top contenders for the presidency.
In the wake of former President Yoon Sook -Yul's ousting over an illegal martial law declaration, South Korea faces a snap presidential election.
The current favorite based on polling is liberal progressive candidate Lee Jae -myung of the Democratic Party.
A former factory worker turned human rights lawyer, Mr. Lee has held positions as mayor and governor in major jurisdictions and hopes to take his experience to the office of the presidency.
His campaign stresses democratic restoration and economic revival and proposes constitutional reforms to diversify power consolidated in the executive branch. He is known as a reformist politician, and he does put things in action, whether people agree with his agenda or not.
but what is clear about him and you know regarding his reputation is that he does things.
Lee's main contender is Kim Moon -soo of the People Power Party.
Mr. Kim is a former labour activist who served as Minister of Employment and Labour in the previous administration.
He advocates for economic revitalization and a conservative stance on diplomacy and regional security.
Analysts say Mr. Kim's main challenge will be distancing himself from former President Hyun while trying to hold on to a divided conservative base.
His strategy would be to consolidate the support from the conservative camp.
So he tries to emphasize his conservative stance on these major issues including the Korea's relationship with the United States, China and North Korea of course.
The wild card this election is Lee Joon Suk of the New Reform Party.
a Harvard educated conservative and former leader of the PPP.
At 40 years old, he represents a youthful push for political innovation and digital transformation.
He's vowed to finish the race and resisted calls to form a conservative alliance.
By sticking to his principal positions and by maintaining the image that he wouldn't be bought so easily.
He is a man of character and he's a political leader of principles would be tremendously more beneficial to Lee Joon -sek as a new hope for conservative you know supporters in Korean politics.
South Korea still reeling in the aftermath of an illegal martial law bid and presidential impeachment amid a vastly polarized nation based on political ideologies whoever wins this election has the daunting task of steering the nation's path forward at an important juncture as it faces both challenges within and uncertainties abroad.

Gaza Strip resident Arafat Siam lost his brother who went to get some aid to feed his child.
He went to get some food from this little boy.

They're lying to us.
A delivery is from the Gaza humanitarian foundation have been chaotic with multiple reports of Israeli troops firing on crowds near distribution points.
Israel and the U .S. say the new aid system is designed to prevent a mass from diverting supplies.
But U .N. agencies and major humanitarian groups refuse to cooperate, arguing it violates humanitarian principles by giving Israel control over who receives aid, and forcing people to relocate, worsening displacement.
Although Israel recently eased its blockade, the U .N. system continues to face severe obstacles in delivering aid.
Those aid groups say Israeli restrictions, the breakdown of law and order, and widespread looting make it extremely difficult to deliver aid to Gaza's roughly two million Palestinians.

Standing face to face with these cultural relics while documenting this beautiful moment makes me happy.
And with more, guest Sturi Manikam spoke with Chen Jiehe, Chief Investment Officer at NovumRK Technologies.
Let's zoom in on this particular trends that we're looking at, how more people are now interested in outdoor bookings, movies, cultural venues, and they also have theme parks and travel photography.
So how do you look at these consumption trends?
Regarding the boom of China's theme park industry, these kind of things, travel photography, movies, all sorts of things, we can see that they show a lot of changes in China's consumption market.
The most important change that it shows is that the discretionary consumption is rising, which means people are not only consuming for daily living demands, but they are also consuming for improving their lives.
They are paying more money to entertain themselves, making lives happier.
This is in line with the growing of China's pre -capita GDP and income.
Meanwhile, if you look at the consumers in the same parks and photography markets and moving markets, you can see that most of them are younger people.
This shows that the younger consumers in China are taking up an even more important part in the consumption economy.
They have more money and they're willing to spend more money out of their income.
There are many things that we can do, such as improving the quality of traveling, regulating the tourism markets, making the local tourism market more friendly to global tourists etc. Many jobs have been done in these aspects and I'm sure we will do more in the future.
That was Chief Investment Officer Chen Jiehe at Nova Marquis Technologies talking about China's latest travel trends.

In culture and entertainment, and for the past two decades, Chinese animations have won a global reputation, especially with the huge success of Nezha 2 this year, at the 21st China Cartoon and Animation Festival in Hangzhou.

Many internationally animated films are dubbed into English.
The first release of Neja 2 was in Mandarin with subtitles, so for a family audience subtitles are not usually considered that appealing.
Professor Li agrees saying a film's global success depends on adopting a different strategy in different markets.
If the animated film wants to achieve global success, some factors, such as dubbing, need to be considered before production.
For example, how to translate better and be dubbed better to convey the powerful emotions in the film to foreign audiences.
Lee adds that now the Chinese animation's technology and storytelling is quickly catching up with the best in the world.
it's all the more important to conduct a thorough analysis of the expectations of moviegoers in different markets." That was Ubin reporting.
