Hi, this is Sophia Cartman, host of the Dream Big Podcast show, a place to learn, laugh, and grow.
Big Dreamers, have you ever had a day where everything seems to be going fine?
Then boom, something happens unexpectedly.
Maybe someone says something unkind, you spill your drink, or plans suddenly change.
How do you react?
What spills out of you in these moments?
Today, we are going to be talking about how life's little bumps reveal what's really inside us.
And how we can choose to fill up our cups positively, with kindness and joy, other than with negative and anger.
This is episode 446 of the Dream Big Podcast.
And it's time to dream big.
Welcome back, big dreamers.
Today we're talking about a powerful idea.
What's in your cup?
Imagine you're holding a cup of your favorite drink.
Example, hot chocolate.
And when somebody bumps into you, the hot chocolate spills everywhere.
Why?
You might say, because someone bumped into me.
But the real answer is, you spilled your hot chocolate because that was inside of your cock.
If it had been tea, you would have spilled the tea.
So what happens when life bumps into you?
What spills out?
When things don't go your way, do you react with patience and understanding?
Or does frustration and anger come out?
That's what we'll be exploring today.
How we can choose what fills our cups so that, when life shakes us, the best of us spills out instead of the worst.
Big dreamers.
Every single day, we're filling our cups not with hot chocolate or with tea, but with our thoughts, emotions and attitudes.
Life will always have its bumps.
Maybe someone says something mean, plans don't go as expected, or you just have a tough day.
When this happens, whatever is inside of you will spill out.
So the big question is, what are you filling your cup with?
Step one, identify what's in your cup.
Think about your reactions when things don't go your way.
Do you get upset, frustrated, or impatient?
Or do you respond with kindness, understanding, and positive attitudes?
If you notice that negativity spills out when life shakes you, don't worry.
That just means it's time to start filling your cup with something better.
Step two, choose what you want to spill.
We can't control every bump and shake in life, but we can control what we carry inside.
Instead of filling our cups with anger or frustration, let's pour in joy gratitude, patience and kindness.
Next time something unexpected happens, take a deep breath and remind yourself this is my chance to spill something good.
Step three, take action to fill your cup.
Here's how we can make sure our cups are filled with positivity.
Number one, start each day with gratitude.
Think of three things you're thankful for.
Number two, surround yourself with people who inspire and uplift you.
Number three, practice kindness.
Help others give compliments and use positive words.
Number four, take care of yourself.
Move your body, eat nourishing foods, and rest well.
And last but not least, number five, learn from challenges instead of letting them bring you down.
Just like a cup filled drop by drop, our mindset is built by small daily habits.
The more we practice, the easier it becomes to react with love, patience and strength, even when life shakes us.
Big Dreamers, I challenge you to check in with yourself today.
What's in your cup?
And what do you want to be in there?
Let's choose to fill our cups with kindness, resilience, and positivity.
So no matter what happens, we spill something wonderful into the world.
