Hello, everybody. Welcome back to daily Easy English Expression, the podcast.

Okay, today's expression is great to mean well.
He means well. I mean well.
We mean well. Hmm, M -E -A -N -W -E -L -L.
When we say he means well, the situation is usually he tried to do something to help you, but But the result was kind of a disaster.
Your computer was broken, so I said, Hey, I'll fix it.
And I took your computer and I tried to fix your computer.
But I made the problem worse.
Oh my god, I'm so sorry.
I meant well. and that situation its past tense.
So to mean well, M E A N W E L L.
It means you have good intentions, you're trying to do something good but something bad might have happened.
And in the past tense meant well.
I meant well. M -E -A -N -T W -E -L -L.
Check out the dialogue.
Ah! I hate Shane's carrots!
Why? They're tasty.
A little buttery. But he slices them too thin.
He means well! He doesn't want you to choke.
I'm not a baby. Yep that's true for me.
When it comes to vegetables and meat, if I slice the vegetables or meat into pieces, I tend to make really small pieces.
Because I'm afraid if somebody gets a big piece, a big piece of carrot or meat, they might choke.
It might get caught in their throat.
I don't want that. I want people to enjoy my food, so I tend to cut my meat and my vegetables into very small pieces.
Because I want you to be happy and healthy and safe.
But some people don't like it.
Some people, when they eat stew or you know, a piece of carrot or something like that, they want a big chunk.
they want something they can chew on.
They don't want baby food, they want man food.
Yeah sorry. I meant well yeah for you I promise next time I'll leave the pieces of carrots a little bit bigger okay.
