Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English!
Hello, everybody.
You're listening to Daily Easy English Expression, the podcast number 1154.
It is Monday.
If you're listening to this live, I hope your Monday is going well.
I hope you have a fantastic week.
Today's expression is great.
Are you ready?
Listen carefully.
Out of the blue.
Out of the blue.
It's four words.
I'll explain exactly what it means in a minute.
First, listen to a dialogue and see how you understand it.
Here we go.
Where are you going?
John's house.
John?
You haven't seen him in so long.
Yeah, he called me today.
Out of the blue.
That's so nice.
This happened to me about two months ago, maybe three months ago.
So I went to college at the University of Minnesota and when I went to college, I was really busy.
I studied full time and I worked full time.
So I didn't really have any friends when I went to college. except for one guy.
His name was Sean, Sean Lang.
And Sean Lang found me somehow on social media.
And out of the blue, he messaged me.
And it turns out he lives a few hours away from me.
So I will be meeting with Sean Lang sometime this summer.
It's fantastic.
I'm so excited.
He messaged me out of the blue.
Just like in this dialogue, the wife says, it was a woman, everybody.
Where are you going?
And the guy says, John's house.
John, you haven't seen him in so long.
Yeah, he called me today out of the blue.
Daily pronunciation.
Out of becomes out of.
And there's many reasons why I explain that in DDM, my great class.
But yeah, you should join my class.
Let's master English dot com.
But anyway, out of out of the blue.
Out of the blue.
Blue, B-L-U-E.
Now what does this mean, out of the blue?
Just think of the sky.
Look up.
What color is the sky?
It's blue.
Now if you look up, you look up in the sky right now.
I'm looking up in the sky and it's just blue, right?
It's blue.
And you see nothing but blue.
But can you imagine if there was like a bird like way, way, way, way, way up there, right?
You see that bird.
You can just see the bird.
It's a tiny little thing.
Is that a bird?
It's a bird.
Now, when that bird is really, really high in the sky, can you see when it poops?
No, you can't, unfortunately.
So if you're looking up in the sky and you're looking at that bird and you don't know that it has pooped, you find out very suddenly, very surprisingly.
You never expected it.
You're looking at the beautiful blue sky.
You never expected poo-poo to come and hit you in the face or the head or your car.
It came out of the blue.
Unexpected.
That's the idea.
You're looking up at the blue sky and it's like, oh, my God, it's beautiful blue.
And then there's some poop.
Oh, my God.
It came out of the blue.
You'll never forget this expression.
But I want you to use it.
It happened out of the blue, unexpectedly.
You had no idea.
You couldn't have anticipated it.
Unexpected.
My good old college bud Sean Lang called me out of the blue.
He messaged me out of the blue.
Yeah, it's a great expression.
Okay?
I hope you have a fantastic week.

What did you want?
And the winning number was every day.
People said they wanted to listen to Easy English Expression every day.
Are you serious?
So I'm doing the poll one more time because I was surprised.
Every day was the winning number.
So please, if you're listening to this on Spotify, okay, Go to Spotify and this podcast.
There is a poll.
How often do you want me to create easy English expression?
And please vote.
Leave a comment to say hi.

I was surprised people said every day really, really i'm curious about that, so vote and then, if you don't mind, leave a comment and i'll see them.
So i'm excited about that.
