Hello everybody welcome back to Daily EZ English expression, today we have a great expression.
It is to have a way with someone or something.
To have a way with someone.
What this means is if I have a way with you, that means I have much influence over you.
I can manipulate you.
I can control you. I can get you to do things.
I'm powerful over you.
I have power over you.
I have away with dot dot dot dot.
So some people might say coach Shane has away with English.
And that would mean I have a special ability to teach English or to help students with their English.
I hope so. I've been teaching English for oh my goodness, over 20 years so I hope I have a way with English.
I have a way with teaching English.
I have a way with helping you understand English.
One thing I do not have a way with is computers.
I do not have a way with computers.
I cannot control computers.
Computers are... well they're my friends but if I want them to do something they become my enemy.
They say the computer is only as smart as its operator.
Well my computers are not that smart.
Do you understand? Yeah.
What do you have away with or who do you have away with?
Let's check out the dialogue.

Such a good kitty! Wow, Shane really has a way with animals.
Uh yes, I do have a way with animals.
Not just cats but also dogs and other animals.
pretty much anything except for fish every time I go fishing the fish don't bite yeah I've caught a couple of fish these days and I let them go so I think they I don't know anyway but with cats and dogs I have away with animals animals like me I don't know why I'm happy um I do like animals but they do like me especially my cats my cats are silly if you're interested in my cats follow me on Twitter, we always have great pictures.
I know some of you don't like cats.
I understand. Each person has their own thing.
But I can tell you, for sure, I do have a way with cats and dogs.
However, I do not have a way with children.
Children don't listen to me.
Children do not like me.
They ignore me. I have no power, no influence over children or women.
Women, I have no way.
I do not have a way with women.
Some guys are very smooth talkers.
They can control anybody, men, women, whatever.
Salespeople, yes! Really good salespeople?
They have a way with people.
You know some of my American friends say that I have a way with words.
words. That means I'm very good or very articulate or very funny when I communicate.
I use words in a special way.
So think about it. What do you have away with?
Words, computers, animals.
Do you have away with people?
Men, women. Do you have away with your mom?
Can you influence your mom?
do you have more power over your mom or does your mom have a way with you?
It's a great expression, but in order for you to make this your expression, I want you to think of some examples.
