From your friends at PBS Kids.
Hello and hi to all you Pinkamazing friends out there.
I'm Pinkalicious, and this is my little brother Peter, also known as Peterrific, which rhymes with terrific.
Welcome to our podcast, where we play our favorite songs and do Pinkatastic things together, like create and make stuff.
Sing and create with us if you can, okay?
In the car, at home, in your yard, or wherever you are!
Pinkalicious and I are in Mommy's workshop right now.
I'm doing the talking because Pinkalicious is busy.
She's helping Mommy drill and saw.
And hammer the pieces of a brand new super awesome Pinkalicious and Peterrific creation called...
Something.
We don't have a name for it yet.
And done.
Thanks for helping us, Mommy.
Big hug.
One for me, too.
Mommy gives the best hugs.
So what should we call our new invention?
I don't know.
We should tell our listeners what it is first.
Oh yeah, it's kind of a lifter thing.
You can lift practically anything by putting this special glove on your hand and lifting.
I'm about to test it out.
In goes my hand, then I strap on the straps, wiggle my fingers.
Don't forget to turn on the magnetic motor.
The motor goes on and wow, I think it's ready.
What should I try and lift?
No, no, not me.
Lift the chair.
Up into the air you go, chair!
It works!
It really, really works!
Hooray!
Try the desk.
You think it'll work on the desk?
That's heavy!
It's supposed to lift heavy stuff.
Whoa!
This is so, so, so, so fun!
I bet you could lift Daddy with it!
Daddy and Mommy together!
Or if you want to pick up a hippo to tickle the bottom of his feet!
Or if someone needs to move their car without driving it!
Or a house!
Just call on us in our...
Okay, we really do need a name for it.
Any ideas, listeners?
Nice.
You all have some great ideas.
Did someone say Lifted Tron?
I like it.
I just heard Heavy Hand.
That's good, too.
You know what, Pinkalicious?
I'm thinking this might be the best thing we've ever made.
Most useful, too.
I don't know, Peter.
We make a lot of amazing stuff.
Oh, like your pink perfume.
Remember?
Yes.
I used Mommy's invention, the Perfum-o-matic.
And I use it to make Stripey perfume.
Hey, let's sing that song we made up.
The one about how we made perfume.
Pink Amazing Idea!
Sing along with us everyone!
Or dance, or clap, or... Stomp!
Here we go!
A pretty pink feather, a yummy pink plum, my favorite pink eraser, some chewy bubble gum, a pinch of pink sparkles, a sweet rose and blue.
Mix them all together, mix them all together, mix them all together to make my pink.
And here's the part where I don't make pink perfume, I make stink perfume.
A stretchy piece of taffy in rainbow stripes, please.
A little striped shrimp.
Shrimp?
Some stripey blue cheese.
Cheese?
My old striped socks.
You wore them quite a lot.
Mix them all together.
Mix them all together.
Mix them all together and let's see what happens.
That perfume was so fun!
Even though it made our school super smelly when you accidentally brought it to show and smell.
Your perfume was not my favorite.
I just remembered something else we made that I loved.
What?
I'll give you a hint.
It made a certain someone really happy.
Um... Woof, woof!
Was that what we called it?
Woof, woof?
No, that's a hint!
Here's another one.
We made it with our friend Raphael and his little sister Frida.
Frida, Raphael, making someone happy, and woof?
Those are hard clues, Pinkalicious.
Listeners, do you know?
Maybe this song will help you remember.
Get ready to sing along, everyone.
Here we go.
Rusty's doghouse needs a door that's extra big and wide.
So that when we hug him, we can reach inside.
And how about a window?
Or maybe even two.
And don't forget his toys and a shoe for him to chew.
A home sweet home for Rusty.
A place he'll love to be.
Feeling safe and warm with his friends and family.
Rusty's doll car should be yellow.
And purple.
Also pink.
With a porch that's right outside where he can eat and drink.
Let's keep a bowl right here.
In case he wants to play.
We'll stop by to visit and pet him every day.
A home sweet home for Rusty.
A place he'll love to be.
Feeling safe and warm with his friends and family.
That's right.
How could I forget?
We made a brand new dog house for Rusty.
He loved it so much.
And what is better than making a dog happy?
Making a cat happy.
Okay, that's true.
Did we ever have a name for Rusty's dog house?
I don't think so.
I just remember that after the frog and flamingo moved in, we had to make a lot more houses.
Right!
A goat house, a frog house, a flamingo house.
You know what might be the best thing I ever made?
My gigantic tower, which I built with blocks.
I spent one whole cold and lonely night up there.
But still, it was great.
I got to see lots of stars and the moon up close.
It was Peterrific!
It just needed a bit of fixing, like an easier way to get up and down.
Yeah, sometimes the things you make are not perfect right away.
You have to work on them a little, or a lot.
What was the song you sang about your tower?
I really liked it.
Oh yeah, my tower song.
I'll sing it now.
Rising up to the sky, a million feet high, oh, my tower will be the best yet.
And when my tower is done, I'll say hello to the sun, then we'll sing a duet.
I'll slide on a sunbeam, dance on a cloud, gathering stars all around.
It'll be so much fun, I might never come down.
I'll feel the wind on my face as I go up into space, even higher than birds ever go.
I'll twirl around on the breeze and get to flying trapeze as I put on my own show.
I'll slide on a sunbeam, dance on a cloud, gathering stars all around.
It'll be so much fun.
I might never come down.
Someday we'll make another super duper gigantic tower.
One where we'll be able to reach the stars and sleep on.
Wait, where are you going?
Upstairs to lift my bed with our invention so I can take it out to the tree house to be closer to the stars and be comfy.
Me too.
Maybe mommy and daddy will want to sleep up there with us tonight.
I bet their bed is extra heavy.
And our cat Rosie could join too, but I can carry her bed by myself.
Okay, Operation Under the Stars Sleepover has begun.
I have to go now, listeners.
I have some heavy lifting to do.
Wait, wait!
What?
I just thought of the perfect name for our invention.
How about the Up to the Stars-o-matic?
That is perfect.
This is going to be so much fun.
Up, up, and away!
Bye, everyone!
Peter and I had so much fun singing with you today.
Before we go, I want to introduce you to a special friend of mine, Victoria Can.
Hi, Pinkalicious.
Thanks for inviting me to your show.
Victoria, I know a lot about you.
We are friends after all.
But will you tell everyone else a little bit more?
I would love to.
So, as Pinkalicious said, my name is Victoria Kann and I'm the author and illustrator of the Pinkalicious book series.
I'm also co-executive producer of the TV show Pinkalicious and Peterrific on PBS Kids.
Victoria, I was hoping, along with kids all across the world, that you might answer some questions.
Would you?
Sure.
That would be fun-tastic.
Hi, I'm Bella.
And I'm Clara, and we're from Needham, Massachusetts.
And our question is, what tools do you use to make your books?
Hi, Bella and Clara.
Thank you for the great question.
And that's such a smart question asking me what kind of tools that I use.
Well, I create my artwork by taking pictures and scanning them into the computer.
And I also find all sorts of things that have been printed, like musical notes or pages with the alphabet, and I scan those into the computer.
And I also paint pictures and I scan those into the computer and then I make my artwork that way.
If you have seen my show or you have opened my books and you have seen in the background on the hills musical notes, or have you seen when you look at a butterfly that there are actually numbers, or in a bee there might be paper from a paper grid.
I'm wondering if you can see that in my artwork.
What are the tools that you like to use when you make your artwork?
I would love to know.
What's your next question?
We were wondering, do you have any tips for kids who want to be authors when they grow up?
Yes.
My number one tip is to keep at it.
That's it.
Just keep writing.
Keep drawing if you like to draw.
Read great authors for inspiration.
Go to museums and look at great artwork.
And most importantly, don't give up.
Just keep doing it.
It's important to practice and that's how you get better at things.
Thanks, Victoria.
That was pinkerific.
Thank you, Pinkalicious.
It's always fun to think pink, especially with you.
Do you have a question you'd like Victoria to answer?
Have a parent send a voice recording of your question to pinkaliciousandpeterific at wgbh.org.
So that's our show and thanks for listening.
If you liked it, we hope you'll subscribe to it.
Just ask a grownup to help you.
