Cody, wanna hear a story?
Yes, I do.
Can I please help tell it, too?
Yes, listen close.
Let's imagine and rhyme.
It's Cocomelon Storytime!
Daddy, can we use these coconuts to make a smoothie?
Sure, Cody.
Actually, we should make a Filipino dessert called Halo-Halo with the coconuts.
Let me just grab them.
You knocked the coconuts off the counter.
And they came clattering down.
Clack, clack, clack, clack.
They sure did.
Whoops.
Hey, this reminds me of a story from the Philippines that I call clattering coconuts.
In the Philippines there's a type of pig called a warty pig, with hair down its back and pointy tusks.
Warty pig sounds.
Cool looking.
They are.
One day, a warty pig was stacking his coconuts up in a big pile.
I've got to get these coconuts to the next village.
So the villagers could make hollow hollow?
Yes.
The warty pig looked at the setting sun and realized soon it would be too dark to make the journey.
Just then, the horse trotted by while pulling her cart.
Remember what sound horses make?
Nah.
That's right, Cody.
Hey, neighbor, the horse said to the warty pig.
That's a lot of coconuts you got there.
Can I help you carry them in my cart?
Yes, please, said the pig as he picked up his coconuts to put in the horse's cart.
He stacked them all.
The pile got tall.
Hey horse, can you please gallop really fast to the next village so we get there before it's dark?
The pig asked.
The horse said.
Okay, neighbor.
And began to gallop.
Clip-clop, clip-clop, clip-clop.
Exactly.
But the road was so bumpy and she was going so fast, the coconuts came clattering down.
Clack, clack, clack, clack.
Coconuts, coconuts all around.
Rolling, rolling on the ground.
The warty pig was upset.
He had to pile all the coconuts back on the cart.
He stacked them all.
The pile got tall.
There's so many coconuts.
It must have taken a long time to stack.
Mm-hmm.
The warty pig looked up at the setting sun and knew they had to hurry.
So he asked the horse to gallop even faster.
Well, neighbor, said the horse, I don't think that's such a good idea.
Why not?
We want to get these coconuts to the village fast.
So we've got to go even faster.
Well, okay.
Clip-clop, clip-clop, clip-clop.
But the road was so bumpy and the horse was going even faster over the bumps.
So sure enough, the coconuts came tumbling down.
Oh, no.
Not again.
Coconuts, coconuts all around.
Rolling, rolling on the ground.
It was another big mess. and the sun was getting even lower in the sky.
The warty pig gathered the coconuts as quickly as he could.
He stacked them all.
The pile got tall.
And since it was almost dark out, the warty pig asked the horse if she could try galloping even faster this time.
Neighbor, said the horse, every time I gallop, the coconuts fall off my cart.
But galloping's the fastest way to get somewhere.
And if we don't go fast, the villagers won't be able to make their coconut hollow hollow tonight.
Well, okay.
So the horse galloped as fast as she possibly could.
Clip-clop, clip-clop, clip-clop.
Can you guess what happened, Cody?
The coconuts fell again.
Coconuts, coconuts all around.
Rolling, rolling on the ground.
I don't think we'll ever get these coconuts to the village.
The pig looked up at the sun, but the sun was down.
Aw, the warty pig must have been really sad.
He was, but the horse had an idea.
Neighbor, instead of galloping, what if I try walking slowly?
But walking would take a long time.
Not as long as stacking coconuts over and over again.
Let's give it a try.
Nay, nay, what do you say?
The warty pig smiled and said, okay.
So the pig picked up the coconuts one last time.
He stacked them all, the pile got tall.
Then the horse started walking slow and steady.
Clip, clop, clip, clop.
And even though the road was still bumpy, they made it the whole way.
Walking slow was the way to go.
You said it.
The warty pig thanked his neighbor for her help and gave a happy snort.
The end.
We heard a story.
Yes, it's true.
And I helped tell it, too.
We listened, imagined, and made some rhymes for Cocomelon Storytime.
