Participants at the UN ocean conference underway in France have called for a ban on bottom trawling for fish.
In business, China announces policy to enhance social equity and public services.
In sports, day one action from China's Table Tennis Super League.
In culture and entertainment, announcing the venue for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Film Festival.
Now checking the day's top stories.
World's two largest economies have held a fresh trade talks in London.
Chinese Vice Premier Ha Li -feng met US Treasury Secretary Scott Besson.
Delegates are hoping to resolve a trade war that began when Washington slapped Beijing with tariffs of 145 percent and Beijing responded with duties of 125 percent on US goods.
Li Jianhua has more.
Yesterday the Chinese and American delegation talked for over six hours here in the Lancaster House and right after that the Chinese delegation came out first and half an hour after that the American delegation.
But the Chinese delegation didn't give any comment and then we asked the American delegation if there was any update yesterday after over six hours of discussion.
Scott Besson, the Treasury Secretary also the head of the US delegation said to us, It was a good meeting and also the Commerce Secretary of the United States, Howard Lutnick, said it was fruitful, just the one word. And overnight, U .S. President Donald Trump tweeted, saying that China is not easy and I'm only getting good reports.
This is a continuation of the China -U .S. talks in Geneva in May, which was considered rather constructive as tariffs on each other drops from the prohibitive over 100 % to 30 % and 10 % respectively.
And also the phone call between the Chinese president Xi Jinping and the US president Donald Trump set the tone for the talks yesterday and today.
Trump said it was also the first direct engagement between the two presidents.
And Donald Trump said it was a good call.
And Chinese president Xi Jinping urged Donald Trump to reduce negative measures against China.
also he invites Trump to visit China again.
So this is what happened yesterday and also the background.
What is on top of the agenda, and that is the trade restrictions.
We know the United States and China really, really need each other, especially now the trade war has escalated to into trade restrictions.
China hopes that it can get access to advanced high -end chips.
The United days is heavily reliant on China's rare earth minerals so that is absolutely on top of the agenda but of course we have some good signals we have some good news and the good science and the rare earth minerals export licenses were approved by China right after the talks were announced by the commerce ministry and of course today all eyes are on what would come out of the trade talks today and we'll see how much each other would compromise to reach a deal.
That was Lee Jianhua in London.
The world is celebrating the first international day for dialogue among civilizations, which falls on Tuesday.
The Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi delivered a speech via video link to a UN event.
He said China advocates for dialogue among civilizations in three aspects, such as safeguarding equity, facilitating exchanges, and promoting progress.
The minister called for rejection of a clash of civilizations, urging shared dignity and equality instead.
And he added that wisdom should be drawn from dialogue among civilizations to address global challenges and broaden the pathways to world modernization.
Last year, the 78th session of the UN General Assembly adopted a China -proposed resolution to establish the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations.
The China Cultural Center in Belgrade has become another example of the Global Civilization Initiative.
Yang Chengxi visited the site and spoke to a long -time Chinese resident in the Serbian capital to find out how mutual understanding between the two countries has flourished.
Construction of the center started in 2017 with distinctive cultural elements.
The outer design drew inspiration from an ancient Chinese painter who specialized in drawing mountains.
The building has eight floors above ground and two floors below, consisting of cultural halls, a hotel and restaurant, business meeting areas, as well as offices.
Wang Jun has been doing business in Serbia since 1998.
His company operates the hotel and restaurant here.
He said both his life and business in Belgrade have greatly benefited from the growing relations between the two countries over the past decade.
Before 2010, doing business here was not very stable, with the biggest instability being our inability to obtain permanent residency.
In the past decade, these restrictions have gradually eased.
I feel that both the friendliness of the Serbian people towards us and the business environment here have improved.
The Chinese Cultural Center now serves as an emblem of friendship between China and Serbia.
I was Yang Chengxi reporting.
And for more on the importance of dialogue among civilizations, Chen Lanyo spoke to Kostas Konstantinidis, and the founder of Postscriptum, an Athens -based company specializing in supporting cultural reference agencies.
As two of the world's oldest civilizations with deep cultural roots, what can China and Greece learn from each other today?
And how might such an exchange contribute to future development of both nations?
China is a cradle of civilization in the eastern world and Greece is the cradle of civilization in the western world.
So, there are two of the most enduring civilizations that really have very much history, philosophy and very great admiration for arts.
They share common values and these common values are very important for discussing and planning and designing a common future because a common future is something that is very needed in our times of challenges.
Greece through its philosophy and inquiry for knowledge has always been searching for new values for new ideas.
On the other side, China with its balance, harmony and love to nature gives us back necessary tools for discussing about the future because nature, climate change is something that we always have to have in mind and we all share the same planet.
I think these two very valuable civilizations have to have a dialogue, have to give inspiration to one another so that we can continue and build upon it and try to make a sustainable future for the whole world.
With June 10th now recognized as the UN's International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations and also in light of China's global civilization initiative, which calls for respect for cultural diversity.
How do you see cross -cultural dialogue helping to deepen mutual understanding and also strengthen global cooperation?
Well, yes, the dialogue is not a luxury.
The dialogue is a necessity.
But together we can build some plan on how to make projects that really help us bring the world a step ahead.
The world is full of challenges, full of challenges with war conflicts so we have to think on our common values and we have to understand that the dialogue only brings people further and makes cultural sustainable environments.
This is something that we have to understand.
This is something that we have to pursue and this is something that the respect for diversity is something that we both have in common and whether we should boost that in all our activities.
And this will give the meaning for this international day of dialogue for civilizations." That was Costas Konstantinidis, Managing Director and Founder of PostScriptum, sharing his insights on the importance of dialogue among civilizations.
China's released its sixth batch of national archival heritage documents adding 52 historically significant items to the growing collection.
The newly recognized materials include records from the Hundred Regiments Offensive, documents related to the Red Flag Canal irrigation project, and Han Dynasty bamboo slips under from the Yinchuishan tombs.
The Hundred Regiments Offensive marked the largest strategic operation by China's Eighth Route Army during World War II.
Guo Tung -fei from the Central Archives says the documents paint a vivid picture of how carefully the army planned their moves.
The archives reveal that in the Jingzong region alone, over 10 ,000 militiamen were mobilized.
Local villagers supported troops by providing vegetables, poultry, sheep, fried flour, and other supplies.
these records, vividly transport us back to that revolutionary era, showcasing the united front between our military and civilians, a moving historical template of shared resolve against the enemy.
The initiative aims to preserve and promote the use of valuable historical records.
Several Chinese entries including the Oracle Bone Inscriptions have also been included in UNESCO's Memory of the World Register.

At eleven minutes past the hour, U .S. law enforcement officers and protestors are clashing for a fourth day over immigration raids in Los Angeles.
President Donald Trump has sent an additional 2 ,000 National Guard soldiers to the city bringing the total to 4 ,000.
His administration rather has also ordered around 700 Marines to the city.
The raids are unfolding against the backdrop of an aggressive push to raise arrest and deportation numbers as the administration expressed disappointment with the current pace.
The protests are now spreading across the US against the immigration authorities.
California Attorney General Rob Bonta says the state is suing the Trump administration over the deployment of the National Guard. I, in partnership with Governor Gavin Newsom, are suing President Trump and asking the court to set aside the president's unlawful action federalizing the California National Guard. With this order, Trump and Hegseth ignored law enforcement's expertise and guidance and trampled over our state's, California's sovereignty.
and protesters are also expressing opposition to the deployment.
I think Trump deploying National Guard is ridiculous.
I think he's escalating and he's trying to make a show.
I think it's an intimidation tactic.
I think these protests have been peaceful.
There's no one trying to do anything sort of damage right now, and yet you have the National Guard with loaded magazines and large guns standing around trying to intimidate Americans from and saying, hey, what we think you're doing is wrong and we're going to let you know.
Protests began on Friday when federal immigration agents detained people across multiple locations.
Local officials have warned that additional military pressure will only incite violence and spread fear.
Toni Waterman has more from one of the protest sites in Los Angeles.
This brown and white building is the federal immigration center, and there was this standoff between a crowd of a couple hundred and a group of National Guard's troops and other law enforcement.
That group of a couple hundred then merged with another group of a couple hundred that the police had separated out and they made their way to the white building right behind.
That is the Metropolitan Detention Center and that is where some of the migrants who were rounded up in those raids on Friday are now being held.
It had been a very quiet start to the day here in Los Angeles, there was not a lot of protesting after we had those very dramatic scenes playing out on Sunday when you had demonstrators according to law enforcement throwing things like concrete and bottles at police officers and in return being met with flash bangs, tear gas and even some rubber bullets.
There is some police, there's been police coming in constantly moving this crowd around pushing them into new locations and we have gotten word from the federal government, from the military that about 700 active -duty Marines have also now been mobilized.
They will be joining the 2 ,000 National Guards troops who have already been deployed to Los Angeles, only about 300 of them on the ground at this point.
But the president is saying that this is going to help quell these protests.
The officials here in Los Angeles and across California actually say that bringing in additional military troops is only going to incite more violence.
It's going to spread fear around this city.
This is a city of immigrants.
This is the second largest city in the United States.
And more than a third of the individuals who live here were not born in the United States.
So this has really been a center for this crackdown on immigration and the rounding up of migrants.
But the scenes playing out here also now taking place in other cities across the U .S. I was Tony Waterman in Los Angeles, and Frank Contreras spoke to a young protester in L .A.
who was wounded by a rubber bullet.
We're in the epicenter now between clashes taking place here among protesters, mostly young people from Los Angeles, and a large number of police right around the corner who have been firing tear gas and rubber bullets into the crowd for several hours now.
The situation is increasingly tense here on the fourth night of clashes among protesters and police units here, in this part of Southern California.
The government of President Donald Trump has declared a state of emergency.
They're saying that it's time now to send more troops here to the area to this part of California, basically calling these young people here professional troublemakers.
People who are hired to protest. A lot of protesters that we've been speaking with here at this location in Los Angeles tell us that no they're actually just young people who are trying to defend what they think is democracy in the United States I want to introduce you to a young man who lives in Los Angeles his name is Matthew hi Matthew thank you very much. Matthew was shot in the leg how did that take place Matthew what happened?
I was sitting there peacefully protesting like everybody else holding the line like everybody was and all of a sudden they tell us to push back and I'm Literally walking backwards and out of nowhere I get shot in the leg.
I'm out of nowhere, I did nothing wrong.
I was peacefully protesting like everybody else here.
And, yeah. And now it's all like, oh people throwing water bottles.
If someone throws a water bottle they think it's an excuse to hit somebody with a shield or with a batoon or anything like that.
Do you believe the situation is escalating here?
As the night goes on it will continue escalating for sure.
100%. Thank you Matthew, 26 year old from Los Angeles here, who was recently shot by a rubber bullet here in this part of Los Angeles.
Thank you for speaking with us.
Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you.
Thank you. That's Matthew.
One of many people who have suffered gunshot wounds here.
These are from rubber bullets.
They're supposedly non -lethal, but the damage done to his body there was quite evident.
The clashes will continue and people are just standing by here to see what happens next." That was Frank Contreras reporting.
The protests are also spilling over into Mexico, with demonstrators gathering outside the U .S. in Mexico City, to express support for immigrants in the United States.
Alistair Baverstocke has more from the Mexican capital.
Here, outside the US embassy in Mexico City, protesters are showing their support for the Hispanic community in Los Angeles.
As President Donald Trump sends around 2 ,000 National Guard troops to quell the protests in California, citizens here in Mexico's capital are denouncing what they call the repression and human rights violations of their brothers and sisters in the US.
Many here see the National Guard deployment as racism against the Hispanic community.
We are migrants supporting our brothers and sisters in the United States who have been subjected to a brutal and criminal persecution.
It follows the Trump's method of generating fear, instability, terror and persecution even within his own country.
Protesters here say Mexico's relationship with its northern neighbor has deteriorated significantly since Donald Trump's return to the White House and that's the decision to send the military to control the demonstrations is a step too far.
The volume of US dollar remittances, tourism and trade between the two countries are all down significantly since January.
Mexican president Claudia Scheinbaum shared her administration's view of the events in Los Angeles.
We do not agree with these actions which violate the human rights of migrants and criminalise honest working people who help the US economy.
Around half of the residents of Los Angeles are of Hispanic heritage and through diplomatic channels and our local consulates our role is to help.
however we possibly can.
As the world watches events unfold in LA, many Mexicans are more concerned about the safety of their friends and family in Los Angeles as LA's anti -deportation clashes show no sign of slowing up.
That was Alistair Baverstock in Mexico City.
The UN has urged all sides to avoid further escalation of the unrest in Los Angeles.
A UN deputy spokesperson says the organization does not want to see any further militarization of the situation the spokesperson calls on all parties to take steps toward de -escalation.
Rice is a staple food and a symbol of culture in Japan but the country is suffering from a rice shortage with prices surging.
Those feeling the pinch include not only producers and consumers but also politicians.
Isabella Diaz has more.
You'd be hard pressed to find a kitchen or restaurant in Japan that isn't stocked with rice but ask any Japanese shopper nowadays and they'll tell you.
Buying rice has become a luxury.
I still buy rice occasionally but it's so expensive, Sometimes I give up on buying it once I see the price.
I'm buying rice less and less frequently, and sometimes I replace it with packaged noodles like udon or yakisoba because they're cheaper.
That's because the average price of rice has nearly doubled in 12 months time.
Last year in May, a five kilogram bag of rice cost 2228 yen or just over $15.
In May of this year, that same bag costs 4268 yen, just under $30.
The causes of the spike are varied, including a poor harvest in 2023, a surge in demand from increased tourism, as well as government policies encouraging farmers to plant and harvest less rice.
The government started releasing emergency rice reserves, normally kept for disasters, back in March, in an effort to curb pricing.
It's a move it plans to continue through July.
But consumers complained the reserves were released too late, with many not reaching stores or shoppers fast enough.
Frustrations were only made worse when Japan's former agriculture minister, Tako Edo, joked that he never had to buy rice because his supporters gave it to him for free.
But that joke lost him more than just goodwill.
It lost him his job, with Edo ultimately resigning.
He was soon replaced by Japan's former Minister of the Environment, Shinjiro Koizumi.
I will commit myself to this challenge.
I will put rice before anything and consider myself as a rice minister.
And so far, Koizumi has done just that, starting with a drastic change in policy.
The Japanese government began selling its rice reserves directly to retailers rather than through competitive bidding.
And as rice has become more widely available, the price has nearly halved back to 2 ,000 yen, or $14, per bag.
That's the lowest price seen in Japan's supermarkets for roughly three weeks, and consumers are crowding stores to catch the deal.
But Japan still has a long road ahead before regaining consumers' trust. Demand for cheaper, foreign -made rice has skyrocketed, despite Japan implementing large tariffs to protect the country's rice producers.
Still in a country where rice is ingrain not just in the food, but in the culture it rolls.
Rice is our soul food.
It's important. It seems shoppers will go wherever they can to find it.
That was Isabella Diaz reporting.

Participants have urged efforts to end bottom -trawling for fish and bolster protections for the world's over exploited marine environments.
Chinese Vice President Han Zhang outlined four proposals on sustainable ocean governance while addressing the general debate.
He also met French President Emmanuel Macron, saying China is willing to strengthen bilateral and multilateral strategic communication and coordination with France.
Sarah Coates has more from Nice.
That seemed to be a very friendly meeting – two men sitting down shaking hands.
We then did hear from China's vice president.
He addressed this delegation on day one of this Ocean Conference.
He said that China looks forward to working with all parties to better conserve and sustainably harness resources for better implementation of the SDGs and for the ocean to contribute more to humanity's sustainable development.
He also outlined four key suggestions.
These are making the ocean peaceful and secure, a universal, beneficial and prosperous agreement to make the ocean a shared space where civilians meet and flourish together.
And finally, to make the ocean clean and beautiful.
Now, there are many, many people here in Nice.
It is absolutely buzzing.
There are thousands of people attending this Third Ocean's conference, 50 heads of state, but certainly one very noticeable absence and that is of course of the United States after the new administration pulled out of all climate -related agreements back in January.
Really trying to turn promises into protection and this is after a number of dire warnings that we have been hearing from the United Nations about the state of the ocean.
Now ratifications have actually been pouring in and this is something that the French President Emmanuel Macron has been very optimistic about, he's been saying that he's hopeful that this could actually come into play before the end of the year.
Let's take a listen.
Human activities will therefore be more regulated and some will be prohibited.
Fishing techniques like bottom trawling as well as all mining activities will be restricted in these zones, which have been mapped out based on scientific data in consultation with our fishermen.
He's also hoping to get a moratorium on deep seabed mining, something that not too much is known about.
And as we go to air, there have been 37 countries signing onto that.
So certainly there is optimism here as this conference gets underway that some of these key goals can be achieved.
And we did hear from the UN Secretary -General, Antonio Guterres, when it does come to the issue of deep sea mining.
He said that we cannot let this become the Wild West. How is Sarah Coates reporting?
The China -Cambodian Marine Sustainability Project at a national Marine park combines conservation and development.
The project has helped restore groves, protect fisheries and boost ecotourism.
Saray Naup has more from Koh Rong Island.
Welcome to Koh Rong Marine National Park, a stunning gem off the coast of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
We are here to explore the vital partnership between Cambodia and China, focusing on marine sustainability and conservation.
The Blue partnership between Cambodia and China encompasses a multifaceted collaboration, focusing on marine spatial planning, sustainable ocean development and environmental conservation.
This initiative is a significant component of their broader strategic alliance alligning with China's Belt and Road Initiative and Cambodia's pentagonal strategy.
As a result of this cooperation, enhanced marine ecosystems and improved coastal infrastructure have also contributed to the growth of eco -friendly tourist attractions along Cambodia's coastline.
Like other villages within Koh Rong National Park, Kotak is recognized for its stunning beaches and rich natural beauty that draw visitors from around the world.
In our community, we prioritize three key areas, ensuring security, maintaining clean beaches, and protecting natural resources.
These pillars are essential.
Without them, tourism may not thrive.
Local communities are also integral to this project.
The engagement in beach cleanups and mangrove restoration not only helps the environment, but also foster economic opportunities.
The project benefits all of us a lot.
more tourists mean more income for locals like us, especially through businesses like motorbike rentals.
Many visitors, including a growing number from China, come to Korong for boat trips and fishing.
This effort have also helped restore fish population in the surrounding waters, ensuring a stable and sustainable source of income for local fishing communities.
Thanks to the joint conservation efforts, we've seen an increase in fish populations, which helps support our local fishermen.
Mangrove restoration is vital for supporting biodiversity, offering habitats that lead to more fish for local fishing communities.
It is also become a popular ecotourism destination, attracting daily visitors who come to explore and learn, bringing clear economic benefits to the area.
As we've seen today, the collaboration between China and Cambodia is making significant strides it is benefiting both the local communities and the environment this partnership holds promise for a sustainable future for Guorong National Marine Park.
That was Sri Mount Nok reporting.

Delegates attending an academic symposium on the One Country, Two Systems Framework have praised the role of the Hong Kong national security law in restoring stability and promoting prosperity in the region.
Former Deputy Speaker Ong Thi Kiit of Malaysia's House of Representatives stressed the broader significance of that law.
Hong Kong is a clear case in point.
Being a British colony turned special administrative region granted with high autonomy under the Chinese framework of one country, two systems since 1997, it has every right to enact the necessary legislation in defense of its security and stability.
Teresa Chung -Yuk -wah is the former Secretary for Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and she echoed the importance of the framework.
The preface of the Hong Kong Basic Law has made clear that the initial heart of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the implementation of the One Country, Two Systems is to maintain the unity and territorial integrity of the country as well as to safeguard the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong.
The idea of a One Country is the root of a One Country, Two Systems is also the foundation of the SAR.

Tensions remain high in Los Angeles following the Trump administration's decision to deploy thousands of National Guard troops and Marines in response to immigration -related protests.
The move has drawn strong backlash from state and city leaders, who say it's only fuelled unrest and fear.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bassa condemned the raids and federal troop deployments, calling them unnecessary and provocative.
Dial back time to Thursday, none of this needed to happen.
Why did we need to have raids here?
It was very clear that if raids happen here that the community was going to respond in a very negative way.
I tried to make that case unfortunately.
I didn't succeed. The federal immigration raids began on Friday across multiple work sites in LA.
According to the mayor, the arrest sparked fear and outrage in communities that have been otherwise calm.
This was a build -up.
You know, our city was peaceful before the raids took place so you are correct he called for 2 ,000 soldiers.
There's 200 in the city of Los Angeles and another 100 in the adjacent city of Paramount.
Abas said that she made repeated attempts to convince the administration that the National Guard was not needed and that the show of force would only make things worse.
The standoff now extends beyond the streets and into the courts California's Attorney General and Governor Gavin Newsom have announced plans to sue the Trump administration, calling the deployment unlawful and a violation of state sovereignty.
President Donald Trump's new travel ban has sparked widespread outrage from immigrant rights, advocates and local leaders across the country.

We will resist and we will protect our communities in the face of this brutal escalation.
Executive director Laura Kizwani of the Arab Resource and Organizing Center called on elected officials to not only speak out but to take action to defend vulnerable groups and safeguard protests rights.
No matter how Trump and his administration targets any vulnerable community we will show up.
We will resist and we will call on our elected leaders to continue to join us and make good on their own promises, and to ensure that we're able to do so free of straight repression, that we're able to protest and meet this moment the way it requires us all to do, as history has shown us.
We are only as safe as the most vulnerable amongst us.
In San Francisco, we'll do what it is always done, is protect and defend all vulnerable communities and all working people of this city.
Advocates say they're preparing for legal challenges and bracing for what could be a long and difficult fight.
Coming up in business, China announces policy to enhance social equity and public services.

It established a 500 billion yuan re -lending facility of around US $70 billion aimed at tech innovation companies.
Additionally, the interest rate on the 1 -year re -lending facility was down from 2 % to 1 .75 % for small businesses and farmers.
These steps have significantly boosted borrowing, especially among green industries, small specialized tech enterprises and agriculture -related businesses.
For more, Zheng Junfeng spoke with Liu Jixin, a senior research fellow from Renmin University of China.
How important is building a financial powerhouse for China's modernization progress?
I should say that to build a powerhouse in China in the financial field is the very key level.
That is the very important role in the economic development.
As we know, in national economic development, And the two parts are very key crucial.
Where is the real economy?
The second is the financial section.
Because financial will provide all possibilities and opportunities for the real economy to avoid any uncertainties and challenges domestically and internationally, only by a week, the financial about the real economy have more power than to develop these new technologies.
For instance, if we want to develop AI technology with not a large amount of investment from the financial section, I think that we cannot realize all the goals and purpose for the AI technology.
And the second thing, if we want to improve all the infrastructure projects in China as well in other areas that the without a financial investment in this field I think this infrastructure project cannot be realized in the right way.
So we should say the financial should become a powerhouse in China to promote and to safeguard our modernization.
In what ways does China's financial developments differ from Western financial models?
From Western's view, they're focusing on the capital connection or capital concentration in order to promote development for the rich. This is the main point.
But from China, I think their purpose is mainly to diversify more channels to support their stabilization in social development, especially social security.
So how to improve the quality of people's lives is the Chinese focus of this analysis.
So this is the main difference from the Western world of China.
Many friends from Europe or from Asian countries that have stated that Chinese financial support is really for the interests of the people not for the so -called a wrong point of the rich people of the whole population.

Now as China doubles down on stabilizing employment amid global uncertainties, internet giants are stepping up in a big way.
From hiring sprees to upscaling programs, platforms like Tencent and DiDi are rolling out ambitious plans to support job creation and workforce resilience.
He Jingyi has more.
In April, tech company Tencent unveiled what it calls its largest campus recruitment campaign to date, with plans to offer 28 ,000 positions over the next three years.
Graduates have always been a key talent source.
And with the rapid rise of large models, fresh young minds are more important than ever to shape our future in this space.
Zhang Yeting, a junior student and new intern at Tencent, joined just a week ago.
Within days, she's already experienced the process from both sides.
As a job seeker and a recruiter.
Tencent's online recruitment marketing is really effective.
They constantly update across social media so we can easily track which departments are hiring and how many positions are open.
Now working as a recruitment assistant, Zhan helps brainstorm how to better reach young talent from interactive exchange sessions to house visits.
Meanwhile, mobility giant DiDi is also stepping up.
The company has committed 2 billion yuan or 275 million US dollars to stabilize employment.
We're investing 1 billion Nguyen to boost driver subsidies, raise incomes, strengthen protections, and lower entry barriers.
Another billion will be used to subsidize passengers, which in turn boosts driver income.
This heat map shows regional demand across Beijing.
Red indicates more rider demand than driver supply, signaling a persistent employment gap.
From April to May this year, DiDi onboarded more than 770 ,000 new drivers nationwide.
Chen Pittsburgh is one of them.
I used to run a cross -border e -commerce business, but capital turnover became an issue.
Now, with Didi, I get paid daily, which helps with my cash flow.
During the busy May Day travel period, Chen joined a nighttime service team at Beijing Daxing Airport, earning an extra one hundred eighty yuan per day in subsidies.
Leveraging their technological and ecosystem advantages, internet platforms are no longer just job providers but job enablers.
And this momentum can translate into long term gains for the broader economy." That was He Jingyi reporting.

He can't live without the Yellow River in his eyes.
The Yellow River is so noble and elegant.
Both my grandpa and dad made the living from the river.
Would you like to move away from the Yellow River?
I don't think I will.
I love it so much. The Yellow River, the second longest river in China, is regarded as a shaping force in the history, economy and culture of Northern China.
Today, about 100 million people live within its water basin, making up nearly 9 % of the country's population.
How is climate change felt at its headwaters, and what are the locals doing to cope with it?
What are the descendants of the boatmen doing?
What has kept some people from leaving their home village by the river and what has drawn others back?
Could the fading fishing community revive in the time of digital transformation?
From 2021 to 2024 our reporters visited the upper, middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River, talked to the herders, farmers, boatmen, fishermen and eco -activists who share a close bond with the river and present their stories in pictures, podcasts and videos.
or in our 12 -part series, The Yellow River Mosaic, available only on CGTN Radio.
