China's call volume of tokens totaled about 21.1 quadrillion last year.
That is according to a survey report released by the National Data Administration at the Ninth Digital China Summit, which was recently held in Fuzhou, in East China's Fujian Province.
Separate data from the administration revealed that by late March this year, China's average daily token calls had exceeded 140 trillion, which represented a surge of more than 1000-fold compared with the 100 billion recorded at the beginning of 2024 and amounted to an increase of over forty percent compared with the one hundred trillion registered at the end of two thousand twenty five tokens.
The basic units that ai models use to process information are measurable, priceable and tradable.
Experts have described token call volume as a barometer of industry development and a key indicator of AI adoption.
China saw a surge in cross-border travel during the May Day holiday, with nearly 113 million trips recorded as an uptick in international visitors, including those entering visa-free, added to the increase.
According to the National Immigration Administration, border crossings averaged about 226 million per day during the five-day holiday that began on May 1st, up 35 from a year earlier and peaking on May 2nd.
TRIPS BY FOREIGN NATIONALS TO AND FROM CHINA rose to 126 million during the holiday, a 125 increase from a year earlier.
Among those entering China, 436,000 came visa-free, up 14.7%.
Chinese research institutions have recently completed a demonstration of space metal three-dimensional printing technology in orbit, with potential applications in space manufacturing and maintenance.
The Institute of Mechanics, in collaboration with the Innovation Academy for Microsatellites, both under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, successfully carried out the demonstration in the previously launched Qingzhou cargo spacecraft test vehicle.
Space metal three-dimensional printing technology faces many challenges.
It has to address special physical mechanisms such as metal droplet transfer, liquid bridge stability and melt pool evolution under microgravity conditions, and also needs to resolve a series of engineering challenges, including payload light weighting launch vibrations energy, interface adaptation, as well as autonomous operation and in-orbit safety.
During the demonstration, the three-dimensional printing device aboard the Qingzhou spacecraft autonomously initiated operation according to ground commands.
Using a laser wire feed process.
It completed metal melt deposition in a stable and smooth manner, successfully verifying the reliability of multiple remote-controlled start-stop cycles.
The demonstration also tested core capabilities, including payload compatibility with the spacecraft platform, Full process automated execution, data and image transmission and metal melt deposition processes in the space environment.
The technology is expected to help transform the traditional space mission model of bring what you need into make what you need.
In the future?
It can be used in scenarios such as in orbit manufacturing and maintenance, spare part production for space facilities, structural component repair and autonomous support for deep space missions.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences has revealed an artificial intelligence model system supporting scientific research, empowering multiple scientific domains, including mathematics, physics and biology.
Name Science 1-100.
The model system has been built on the basis of the scientific foundation model Science 1, with a cluster of multidisciplinary, domain-specific large models.
ScienceONE provides three core functions Literature Compass, Innovation Evaluation and Agent Factory, empowering the entire research and innovation workflow.
ScienceOne was released in 2025 and trained on professional scientific corpus and data.
Its latest version has achieved flagship-level performance for scientific knowledge and agentic long horizon reasoning, and has attained state-of-the-art results in terms of multiple benchmarks related to scientific image understanding and manipulation.
Literature Compass provides in-depth literature reading and autonomous review writing as its core functions, enhancing the work efficiency of researchers.
Innovation evaluation can perceive cutting-edge dynamics in the scientific community and industry, helping researchers efficiently identify key scientific problems and potential innovation directions.
The agent factory meanwhile, has achieved autonomous closed-loop agent toolchains and intelligent assisted generation, offering over 2 000 research tools and supporting more than 10 research domains.
The model system currently comprises eight domain specific large models covering mathematics physics, materials science astronomy, as well as environmental science aerospace, geosciences and biology.
That is the end of today's program.
