Coffee Break English, season 4, episode 4, Extra.
Hello and welcome to another Extra episode of Coffee Break English.
In the main episode, we spoke about the Sea -End Tower Edgewock.
Today in this Extra episode, I'm here with Francesca, and we are going to talk about being afraid of heights.
Francesca is from Italy, so it's a good opportunity to hear a different accent.
I hope you enjoy our conversation.
Francesca, are you scared of heights?
I wouldn't say I'm scared exactly, but I don't really like being at the top of tall buildings.
That's fair. So when you visit a new city, do you avoid going up towers and tall buildings?
Usually I do, but I have made some exceptions.
When I went to Paris, I went to the top of the Eiffel Tower, and when I was in New York, I went up the Empire State Building.
But I took the lift, and I didn't stay up there for long.
I'm glad you went up the Empire State Building.
That's one of the must -do things in New York.
What about you, Mark?
What are you scared of?
Well, when I was a child, I was terrified of clowns.
I think that's quite a common fear for children to have.
Yes, I think so. I can understand it.
To a child, clowns must look really weird.
Yes, I just hated their wild hair and white faces.
It was horrible. Birthday parties were a nightmare for me.
And are you still scared of clowns?
No, I'm not. I think the only thing I'm scared of nowadays is spiders.
But isn't everyone scared of spiders?
I'm not. I actually think they are really interesting.
I love looking at them when one comes into my house.
Okay, each to their own.
Let's listen to the conversation again, a little faster this time.
