But for now, let's get on with the show.
Woo!
It's so hot outside.
Run, walk, crawl.
Hey, Guy Razzi.
Oh, hey, Mindy.
Can you believe this heat?
I've already gone through my entire supply of fresh-pressed vegetable juice.
I tried to cool down in a refreshing inflatable baby pool filled with ice cubes, but then the ice melted into the water and then the water got so hot that it boiled, which was not refreshing at all.
I'm sweating so much that Reggie asked if I'd just gone swimming.
Swimming!
That's a great idea!
We should go swimming in Lake Wee Wow to cool off, Guy Raz!
Actually, we can't.
What?
It evaporated.
Lake Wewau evaporated?
Who does this weather think it is?
Why is it so hot out today?
Well, there are a few reasons.
First of all, Earth's axis is on a tilt.
Oh, and by Earth's axis you mean that imaginary pole going from the very top of the Earth to the very bottom.
Exactly.
And because the Earth orbits around the sun...
One half of the world, or hemisphere, is closer to the sun during certain times of the year.
That's why it's summertime in the United States when it's wintertime in Australia and vice versa.
Well, while it's summer here, we better put on some sunscreen to protect our skin.
That's very practical of you, Mindy.
Do you have any sunscreen?
As a matter of fact, I do.
Back up the dump truck, Reg!
Dump truck?
Close your eyes, Guy Razzi.
Reggie, wait.
Ah!
Ah, much better.
Feel that protection from the sun, Guy Raz?
Uh, I guess so.
I think I might just take a cold shower instead.
Ahem.
Camp Wee Wow is an awesome place.
Physics, biology, and outer space.
Science explorers with our headquarters.
Oh, Dennis.
Here at camp, Welcome to Camp Wee Wow.
Wee Wow, the invisible summer camp for science explorers everywhere.
I'm your camp counselor, Guy Raz.
And I got stuck in a tree for eight hours.
You did?
I mean, I'm Mindy.
This week is Weather Week, inspired by our Wow in the World episode, The Curious Case of the Everlasting Storm.
And today, we're going to play a round of Two What's and a Cow, the weather edition.
But first, Dennis has an update on his quest to go outside.
Attention, campers!
Welcome back to my epic journey outside of my cabin.
When last I attempted to go outside, I failed.
But I regrouped, marshaled all of my bravery, and ran out of trail mix.
So I'm making the treacherous, death-defying hike to the mess hall for supplies and foodstuffs.
All right.
Here I go past this bush that's probably full of dangerous squirrels.
Look out!
A larger than average rock!
It could roll on me!
The sun!
It's so bright!
I can barely see!
What's that big shadowy figure?
I think it's Bigfoot!
Leave me alone, Bigfoot!
Reggie, it's you.
Don't scare me like that!
I am not being dramatic!
What are you doing out here in this harsh and dangerous wilderness?
You're coming back from the mess hall?
And now it's closed?
Okay.
Join me next time, campers, as I embark on a new quest.
An epic journey back to my cabin, where hopefully there's a half-eaten granola bar under the bed or something.
Dennis, away!
Really.
Uh campers, we're all going to head over to the game room for a little round of Two.
What's in a Cow?
But first, the Wow Cow has something to share with you.
Boo!
Hi there, fellow WeWow campers.
It's your favorite mascot, the Wow Cow.
And did you know that a 2003 heat wave once turned grapes into raisins before they were even picked from the vine?
And there's more where that came from.
Can't we, Wow?
We'll be right back.
Grown-ups back home, this message is for Moo.

Now back to camp.
Welcome back, campers.
In honor of weather week, we're going to play a special weather edition of Two What's and a Cow.
And, as an even specialer twist, the answer for today's round is coming from our very own Camp Wee.
Wow mascot the Wow Cow.
Moo.
Hey, Wee Wow campers.
So without further ado, it's time for a breezy round of Two What's and a Cow.
Campers, we're going to give you three scientific statements about weather.
And only one of those statements will be a true wow.
The other two, just a couple of made up what's.
Let's do it.
Which of the following statements about weather is the true wow?
Is it A, you can tell the temperature by how often sparrows are chirping?
Or is it B?
Wildfires can sometimes create fire tornadoes.
Or is it C?
The coldest temperature ever recorded was negative 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
And here with the winning wow, it's our camp mascot, the wow cow.
And the correct answer is B. Wildfires can sometimes create fire tornadoes. tornadoes for dinner.
Wow, Cal, that is correct.
Fire tornadoes, commonly called fire whirls, are made up of burning cores and swirling pockets of air, often created by wildfires.
But they can also occur on a much smaller scale.
You might even see one in the Camp Wee Wow campfire.
Now, if you guessed A, you weren't too far off.
Sparrows might not change their tune when the weather changes, But crickets do.
Crickets tend to chirp more frequently in warm weather and less frequently in cold weather.
And if you guessed C, the coldest recorded temperature was even colder than negative 95 degrees.
It was negative 128.6 degrees Fahrenheit or negative 89.2 degrees Celsius.
That's even colder than when I filled my basement with soft serve ice cream.
All right, Wow Cow, tell the winning Wowzers what they've won.
All of our winning campers can stop by the canteen for an invisible chocolate chip, walnut and almond cookie.
It's my own recipe that I like to call Two Nuts and a Cacao.
Ooh, yum.
Lead the way, Wow Cow.
See you later, Daiross.
Wait, but I want a cookie, too.
Attention, campers.
It is I, Broadcasting from the mail room to read some letters from home.
Actually, I assume most of these are fan letters for me.
So let's see how much fan mail I got.
Okay, first one is not for me.
It's for Sonia.
Dear Sonia, hope you're having a fun time at camp.
Things are really great at home.
I turned your room into a kickboxing slash Zumba studio.
I'm really feeling the burn.
Love, Dad.
Ooh, tough break, Sonia.
Let's see.
What's next?
One for me.
Oh, rats.
It's for Liam.
Dear Liam, did you get the care package I sent you?
The one with the cookies?
Love, Grandma.
Cookies?
Where are they?
I don't see any cookies.
Liam, if you've got fresh grandma baked cookies, you have to share them with Dennis.
It's a rule.
Don't believe me? then read chapter 2, section 48, paragraph 4 in the Camp WeWow handbook.
Okay, there's got to be one in here for me somewhere.
Let's see.
Not for me.
Not for me.
Not for me.
Oh, here's one.
Dear Dennis, you are a shining star, a vision, truly the heart and soul of the camp.
The way you handled that larger than average rock the other day was incredible.
Love, your totally real fan, Den, uh, Denver.
Yeah, Denver.
Wow.
Thank you so much, Denver.
You're too kind.
Well, that's all the mail I feel like reading.
I mean, that's all the mail.
Dennis, go bye-bye.
That's it for today, campers.
We had so much fun playing two what's in a cow with you.
And you can keep the fun going at home with your own round of Two What's and a Cow.
Find one amazing scientific wow about weather and then think of two believable but totally made up what's then see if your friends and family can guess the wow.
And don't forget to take a photo or a video.
Grownups, you can share those pictures and videos with us at tinkercast.com slash share.
Also this week, we're asking you to call us with a pretend weather report from a location in your imagination.
Call us at 1-888-7-WOW-WOW to leave your weather report.
