But for now, let's get on with the show.
Woo!
I've got a card trick to show you.
Great, let's see it, Mindy.
Let me just shuffle up my cards real quick.
There we go.
Whee!
Mindy, you don't have to throw the cards in the air when you want to shuffle them.
Look, they're coming back down all shuffled up.
Okay, now just pick them up, pick them up, pick them up.
Perfect.
Okay, now, pick a card, Guy Raz.
Any card you want.
Hmm.
Wait a minute.
This isn't a standard deck of playing cards, Mindy.
Oh, yeah.
This is a custom deck of cards, Guy Raz.
See, this one is your banana scooter license.
And this is Grandma G-Force's baseball card.
For that time she played with the Houston Hot Chili Peppers.
And, uh, ooh, this is a punch card for my ice cream truck.
Ooh.
Oh, wait, don't pick that one.
I'm one punch away from giving myself a free sundae.
Aw.
Okay, now.
Okay.
I choose this one.
Okay.
Now put it back.
Okay.
Done.
Okay.
Let me just shuffle them up again here.
Okay.
Uh, is this your card, Guy Raz?
Yes, Mindy, but that's my credit card.
How did you get that?
Magic, Guy Raz.
Just a little bit of magic.
And also, you left your wallet in the mess hall after breakfast this morning.
Ah. place.
Physics, biology, and outer space.
Science Explorers with our headquarters.
Oh, Dennis.
Here at camp we wow.
Okay, that's enough.
Camp WeWow, the invisible summer camp for science explorers everywhere.
I'm your camp counselor, Guy Raz.
And I use a banana for a phone.
That's true.
She really does.
Campers, it's magic week here at Camp WeWow, inspired by our Wow in the World episode Eyes on the Behind the science of optical illusions and ambush predators.
If you missed it, just go back and listen to yesterday's Camp WeWow.
Now, before we begin today's camp activity, Dennis would like to share a few magic tricks with you.
Uh, Dennis?
Ahem.
Yes.
Thank you, Guy Raz.
Attention, campers.
Reggie and I were going to show you a magic trick, but someone forgot to bring their cake.
Cannot perform today's magic trick.
So instead, as an apology, I will recite the poem Le Lac by Alphonse de Le Martin in its original French
Reggie, no, I'm not done.
Don't touch that.
Reggie!
All right.
Thanks, Dennis.
Let's head over to the auditorium to get to today's activity.
And while we're walking over, the wow cow has something to share with you.
Wow cow?
Hello, we wow campers.
It's your favorite mascot, the wow cow.
And did you know that cows have almost 360 degree panoramic vision?
That would be like having eyes all around your head.
And there's more where that came from.
Can't we wow?
Be right back.
This message is for you.
Hey, grownups.

That's it.
Now back to camp.
All right, campers, welcome to the Artitorium.
Since it's Magic Week Today, we're going to show you how to write a secret message in invisible ink.
That's right.
For this activity we'll need a sheet of paper, a small cup of grape juice, a paintbrush, baking soda, some water and, of course, a grown-up counselor to supervise.
Okay.
So once you have all your materials, the first step is to mix one-fourth of a cup of baking soda with one-fourth of a cup of water.
That sounds easy enough.
Let's see here.
A little bit of baking soda, a little bit of water.
Now I'm going to mix it, mix it, mix it, mix it, mix it, mix it.
There.
What's next, Guy Raz?
Okay, you're going to take your paintbrush there and dip it into the baking soda and water mixture and then paint a secret message onto your blank sheet of paper.
Okay, let me just grab the paintbrush here.
All right, here is our sheet of paper.
No, Mindy, that's not a blank sheet of paper.
That's my birth certificate.
I know.
That's why I'm putting the secret message on the back.
How are you finding all of my papers?
Personal documents.
They really just find me, Guy Raz.
Well, can you just please use this actual blank sheet of paper?
I guess.
Okay, so dipping the paintbrush in the baking soda water mixture.
Painting a super secret message not on your birth certificate, but a blank sheet of paper.
Nicely done.
Nicely done.
But look at this, Guy Raz.
The message is so invisible I can't even read what it says and I already forgot what I wrote.
What are we going to do, Guy Raz?
What are we going to do?
Hang on, hang on.
You're about to find out.
Here's the best part.
Is this where I get to pour my gallon of grape juice onto the paper?
No, no.
We're just going to dip the paintbrush into a little bit of grape juice.
Ah, gotcha.
And I'm just going to paint the grape juice over the paper?
Exactly.
All right, here we go.
I'm just painting all over the paper with grape juice.
This feels good.
Keep going.
You're doing great.
And I'm losing patience, so I'm just going to dump the rest of this grape juice all over the paper.
Mindy!
It's revealed itself!
Let me see.
What does it say?
It says, watch me disappear.
Watch me disappear?
What do you mean by that, Mindy?
Mindy?
Mindy?
Where'd you go?
I've disappeared!
Hey, everybody.
The Wow Cow here.
Do you believe in magic?
Well, if you don't, you sure will once you try one of our brand new non-dairy cheese sticks.
That's right.
We took a regular old cheese stick and sucked out all the milk and dairy until it was just a dry stock of whatever else is in a cheese stick.
This non-cheese cheese stick will leave your taste buds happy but confused.
Can't believe it's not dairy.
And for one day only.
We're offering buy one, get one free down at the canteen.
But wait, there's more.
The 100th customer will have the opportunity to take a photo with me, the Wow Cow.
So what are you waiting for?
Come on down to the Camp WeWow Canteen today.
Move!
Well, campers, that was another successful day of Camp WeWow.
Today we tried our hand at invisible ink and things got a little out of hand.
But that's where you come in, campers.
We want you to try writing your own secret message with invisible ink.
To recap, all you need is a blank sheet of paper, a paintbrush, some water, baking soda and grape juice.
And don't forget your at-home camp counselor, your grown-up.
First, paint your secret message using the baking soda and water mixture.
And then paint over the entire sheet of paper with grape juice to reveal your secret message.
And once you're done writing secret messages, share them with us.
Grown-ups, you can upload pictures and videos to us at tinkercast.com slash share.
This week, we're also asking you to call us and leave a message with your favorite memory of Camp Wee Wow.
It can be an actual memory or one you totally made up, like that time you battled Grandma G-Force in a tug-of-war.
Or when Dennis forgot to turn off his bullhorn when he was in the bathroom and the whole camp heard his business.
Did that really happen?
It did in my imagination.
You can share your Camp WeWow memories with us at 1-888-7-WOW-WOW.
Your memory just might be shared with everyone at this Friday's final campfire of the summer.
Well, that's all for today, campers.
Until tomorrow, who wows?
We wow.
