Abc listen.
Hello there friends.
It's ruby here and you're listening to a special episode of news time.
Today, on news time, we are interrupting your week with some breaking news.
I'm about to tell you a huge scoop.
We're not going to get to counting down five stories.
Prepare to hear one bit of news that's extra big.
The news you're about to hear has been fact-checked and verified by me, and I can tell you with 100 certainty it's true, because it's about me.
Drumroll, please.
After seven years, I've decided it's time for me to put down the news time microphone.
It's not an easy thing for me to do, because talking to you about the news every week is the most fun job I have ever had.
We have gone on so many exciting adventures together into space, under the sea, through the outback, back in time to the land of dinosaurs.
We've met inspiring volunteers and athletes and inventors and explorers.
We've been shocked, delighted, confused, awestruck and sometimes even a bit grossed out.
My friends, it has been a wild ride and I think it's time to give someone else the opportunity to experience it.
Someone who can dig up lots of intriguing news stories for you from Australia and around the world, week after week.
I have a feeling they're going to love it just as much as I have.
So without further ado, I would like to introduce you to your awesome new News Time host.
She grew up in Sydney and when she's not reporting the news, you might spot her bobbing about in the ocean going for a snorkel.
Her name is Emily Anderson.
Hey, Ruby, and hello to you listening.
Emily, it is so exciting that you are taking over on Newstime.
Oh, I am so pumped.
There are so many stories out there that I can't wait to tell.
I'm just so excited, honestly, thinking about all the different possibilities.
Oh, you should be.
And Emily.
Look, I know you're going to take really good care of this show, but there are a few things that I want to remind you of right before I go.
First of all, Every week, there are five stories.
Got it.
One of them has to have a wow factor.
That one is called the wow of the week.
Makes sense.
Emily, it's got to be really wow, okay?
Make sure of that.
Don't you worry, I've got this.
Wow is my middle name.
Here are the keys to the Newstime studio.
And here is the Newstime typewriter.
Wow.
Old school.
Love that.
Oh, heavy too.
Yeah, it is a bit heavy.
Sorry.
Well, I guess that's it then.
Oh, before you go, Ruby, can you stick around for a moment?
There's something you need to hear from the Newstime listeners.
Oh, OK.
Hi, Ruby.
I'm Alicia.
Use time as mental law and being on the podcast is fun.
Good luck and look out for your next adventure.
