Cody, want to hear a story?
Yes, I do.
Can I please help tell it, too?
Yes, listen close.
Let's imagine and rhyme.
It's Cocomelon Storytime!
Okay, Cody, we're at the playground.
Are you ready to go play?
I don't know, Mommy.
I've never played with those kids before.
What if they don't want to play with me?
I used to feel nervous to meet people, too.
It's okay to feel that way.
I know a story about a little girl who felt nervous to make new friends, too.
She lived up in a tower and had long hair.
Do you mean Rapunzel?
Well, she had a lot in common with Rapunzel, but this little girl was named Punzel and her story is called Braids, Beads and Bows.
Punzel had been living up in her tower for a very long time.
How long?
Long enough for her coily curls to grow all the way down to the floor.
Her flowing hair swished, swished, swished as she walked.
If her hair was that long, she'd been there a long time.
Punzel was very proud of her hair.
She wore it braided and full of beads that went click, cluck.
One day, Punzel heard something outside her window.
Hot potato, hot potato, A, B, C. Hot potato, hot potato, jump on three.
Her mother asked, Punzel, would you like to go and play with the children jumping rope below?
Punzel replied, that does sound like fun, but it depends.
What do I have to do to make friends?
Her mother told Punzel all she needed was to be confident in herself.
Confident is when you feel proud of who you are.
Punzel's mother showed her how.
She said, I am proud that I am strong.
I built this tall tower myself, you know, brick by brick, clunk, clunk, clunk.
Clunk, clunk, clunk.
Then Punzel's mother asked Punzel to think of what she was proud about herself.
I am proud that I am kind.
I always hand you tools when you build something, and I'm a great singer.
I can sing the jump rope song.
Hot potato, hot potato, A, B, C. Hot potato, hot potato, jump on three.
Ooh, and I'm proud of my beautiful long braids with beads and bows.
By now, Punzel was feeling really I'm ready to go with my braids, beads, and bows.
I'll make friends with the kids below.
Bye, Mommy.
I'm going outside.
So Punzel ran down from her tall tower, her long hair swish swishing and beads click clacking all along the way.
Swish, swish, click, clack.
When Punzel got outside, she ran toward the children jumping rope.
But... What happened?
Well, she noticed a little boy standing all alone.
Punzel remembered all the reasons she should feel confident.
She's kind, she's a great singer, and she has cool long hair.
Right!
So Punzel felt brave enough to ask the little boy.
Would you like to play with me?
We can go jump rope with the other kids.
I wish we could.
But the jump rope isn't long enough for all of us.
Oh, no!
What are they going to do?
Punzel thought about the problem, then had a wonderful idea.
She asked the other children if she could borrow their jump rope.
Did they say yes?
They did!
And they gathered around her and watched as Punzel took all the bows out of her hair.
She untied them, showing they were actually long!
Oh!
Then Punzel tied those ribbons to the end of the jump rope.
She added some beads too, because she knew they'd make a real cool sound every time they hit the ground.
She handed the jump rope back to the kids and said, There!
I used the bows for my long, long hair.
Now the rope's long enough for everyone to share.
Wow, Mommy!
I thought of another reason Punzel should feel confident.
What's that?
She has great ideas.
She sure does.
Ponzel was very proud of herself.
She said, Look at me go with my braids, beads, and bows.
I made friends with the kids below.
Ponzel and the little boy joined the jump rope game and chanted along.
Hot potato, hot potato, A, B, C. Hot potato, hot potato, jump on three.
Punzel's long hair went swish and her beads clicked and clapped.
Her bows and beads made a fine jump rope.
And that is a fact.
When Punzel felt confident, she made lots of friends.
They lived happily ever after.
Yay!
So, we say... The End!
Um, Mommy?
Mommy?
I'm ready to go make friends on the playground now.
You are?
That's wonderful, Cody.
Are you feeling confident?
Mm-hmm.
Because I'm kind when I take care of my kitty pickles.
I have good ideas when I guess what happens next in stories.
And I'm a great singer, too, like Punzel.
Hot potato, hot potato.
A B, C.
Hot potato, hot potato.
Jump on three.
I'm so proud of you, cody.
You are brave and confident, just like punzel.
Let's go.
We heard a story yes, it's true, and i helped tell it too.
