Welcome to The English We Speak.
I'm Beth. And I'm Phaifei.
We have an expression for a behaviour or habit someone has that you find strange or unusual, but doesn't put you off or make you not like the person.
The expression is beige flag.
Now, beige is a pale yellow or Great colour.
But beige flag? Beth, can you tell us a bit more?
Well, a beige flag is neutral.
It's different to a red flag, which generally means danger and a green flag, which is a positive thing, in the speaker's opinion.
Now, I recently went on a date with a guy and when he left he said, see ya later and I found that a bit of a beige flag.
Yes, isn't that something kids say?
It doesn't make you not want to see him again but I understand why you found more.

Now I recently went on a date with a guy and when he left, he said See you later alligator!
And I found that a bit of a beige flag!
Yeah, isn't that something kids say?
It doesn't make you not want to see him again but I understand why you found it a bit weird.
Also, he said he doesn't like...
I really like him, but he wants me to start going to the gym with him.
That's a beige flag, right?
Martin always drinks cold coffee even in the winter.
It's a beige flag. You're listening to the English we speak from BBC Learning English, and we're learning the expression beige flag, which is a way of describing a habit you find strange but doesn't put you off a person completely.
Now beige flags are very common in dating but you can also use it to describe a colleague for example!
Yes. You seem to yourself all day in the office.
It's a bit annoying.
Oh sorry, I suppose that is a bit of a beige flag.
Well, I'm going on another date tonight, so I'll try not to sing when I'm with him.
Good luck, bye. Yoga is more than just exercise.
It's the spiritual practice that millions swear by.
And in 2017, Miranda, a university tutor from London, joins a yoga school that promises profound transformation.
It felt a really safe and welcoming space.
After the yoga classes I felt amazing.
But soon, that calm welcoming atmosphere leads to something far darker, a journey that leads to allegations of grooming, trafficking and exploitation across international borders.
I don't have my passport, I don't have my phone, I don't have my bank cards.
I have nothing. The passport being taken, being in a house and not feeling like they can leave.
World of Secrets is where untold stories are unveiled and hidden realities are exposed.
In this new series we're confronting the dark side of the wellness industry, where the hope of a spiritual breakthrough gives way to disturbing accusations.
You just get sucked in so gradually, and it's done so skillfully that you don't realise.
And it's like this, the secret that's there.
I wanted to believe that whatever they were doing, even if it seemed gross to me, was for some spiritual reason that I couldn't even understand.
Revealing the hidden secrets of a global yoga network.
I feel that I have no other choice.
The only thing I can do is to speak about this and to put my reputation and everything else on the line.
I want truth and justice and further people to not be hurt for things to be different in the future.
...to bring it into the light...
...and almost alchemize some of that evil stuff that went on.
And take back the power.
