JJ, want to hear a story?
Yes, I do.
Can I please help tell it too?
Yes, listen close.
Let's imagine and rhyme.
It's Cocoa Melon Storytime.
That sounds beautiful, JJ.
Thanks.
I love playing my flute.
Are you putting on a show for your stuffed animals?
Yep, my whale and my dolphin, all my favorites.
You know that reminds me of a story about a little crab who loved to play the flute for her friends in the ocean.
Oh!
Will you tell me the story, Mommy?
Sure.
It's called, Baby Crab's Got a Lot to Grab.
Once there was a baby crab who lived under the sea in a colorful coral reef.
And today, baby crab was on a special mission.
She left her wooden flute on the shore And she needed to go get it.
A flute, just like mine.
Yes.
Baby Crab has to grab something from the shore today.
I know what it is.
Baby Crab has to grab her flute to play.
Yes.
Baby Crab's flute was very special because she made it herself out of driftwood.
She poked the holes in it with her little sharp claws.
Poke, poke.
Just as Baby Crab started her swim to shore, her friend Sea Turtle asked for a favor.
I heard you're going to the shore.
Could you please grab just one thing more?
Sea Turtle needed her shovel so she could build a sand castle.
And Baby Crab said, I can grab it!
And she went over her list.
Baby Crab has to grab a lot from the shore today.
A shovel Baby Crab kept swimming towards the shore when all of a sudden she heard her friend Clam.
Snap!
Snap!
Snap!
Clam said to Baby Crab, I heard you're going to the shore.
Could you please grab just one thing more?
Clam wanted her pail so she could help Sea Turtle build a sand castle.
And Baby Crab was happy to help her friend.
So she said, I can grab it.
Baby Crab is a very good friend.
Yes, she is.
And now that she had one more thing to grab from the shore, she went over her list again.
Baby Crab has to grab a lot from the shore today.
A pail, a shovel, and her flute to play.
Baby Crab started to swim to shore again.
But this time, her friend Dolphin stopped her.
Dolphin asked Baby Crab to grab his beach ball.
And then Shark came along asking for her seaweed so she could floss her teeth.
Chomp, chomp, chomp.
Baby Crab didn't want to disappoint either of her friends.
So she said, I can grab both of those things.
What's her list now, Mommy?
Baby Crab has to grab a lot from the shore today.
Some seaweed, a beach ball, a pail, a shovel, And her flute to play.
That list is getting long.
Uh-huh.
It was a very long list.
And when Baby Crab finally made it to the shore, she tried to grab everything with her claws.
Click, click, click.
But it was just too much.
She kept dropping things everywhere.
Whoa.
Baby Crab was able to grab the seaweed for Shark, the beach ball for Dolphin, the pail for Clam and the shovel for Sea Turtle.
But she just didn't have room in her claws for her flute.
That's what she really wanted.
That's right, JJ.
Suddenly, her friend Seagull landed nearby.
Caw!
Caw!
Whoa!
That's too much to grab for Baby Crab, the Seagull said.
And Baby Crab knew he was right.
What did baby crab do, mommy?
Well, she didn't want to disappoint her friends, but she also didn't want to leave her flute behind.
So baby crab thought and thought and thought some more, and sure enough, she came up with a great idea.
Baby crab asked her friend seagull for help.
Could you please grab my flute for me?
That's so nice of you to help your friends, Baby Crab.
Of course I'll help you.
So Baby Crab swam all the way back to the coral reef with her little cloth full of her friends' things.
And when she handed everything out, her friends were so thankful for Baby Crab's helpful grabbing.
Yay!
And just then, Up, up, up above the waves, Seagull flew by holding Baby Crab's flute.
He dropped it in the water for her.
And it floated swish, swish, swish right down into Baby Crab's claw.
Baby Crab grabbed her flute and gave it a happy toot.
Thanks, Seagull!
The Baby Crab explained to her friends on the reef what the Seagull helped her learn.
Sometimes you think you can handle a lot, but your claws get too full.
But when that happens, it's okay to ask for help.
Baby Crab couldn't do it all by herself.
Just like sometimes I can't carry my toys and Tom Tom and Yo-Yo's toys.
Exactly.
So everyone down on the colorful coral reef had what they wanted from the shore.
And Baby Crab started playing a happy song on her flute.
The end.
We heard a story.
Yes, it's true.
And I helped tell it, too.
We listened, imagined, and made some rhymes for Cocomelon Storytime.
