All right.
Thank you.
Question for you, man.
Is this your Lamborghini?
Yeah.
Is this your Lamborghini?
It is.
Could I interview you real quick?
I have a channel with 7 million followers.
I interview business owners all over the country.
I guess, what do you do for living out here in Houston?
So I have a digital marketing company.
How long have you been a business owner for?
12 years.
What was the most amount of money that you ever made in a single year?
Probably $4.3 million.
Have you ever been broke before?
Oh yeah, we donated plasma for gas money.
You know, I probably could have gone broke probably four times in the last 30 years.
You just gotta keep finding a way.
What was the most amount of money that you've ever made in a single year?
1.7 million.
16 million.
A lot.
How old are you now?
I'm 51.
How old were you when you became a billionaire?
So, since Houston Texas, is home to nearly 100000 millionaires and 18 billionaires, we're back out in Houston to go find these millionaires and billionaires, to figure out how they created their wealth in this city and how you can become financially free in 2024.
So with that being said, let's get this video on the way.
Excuse me, sir.
Question for you.
Have you ever been broke before?
No.
Well, when I was a kid, but not now.
What do you do for living out here in Houston, Texas?
I'm a chiropractor.
How long have you been in medicine for?
30 years.
What's the biggest risk you took throughout your career?
Opening my own business.
How long have you been an entrepreneur for?
2006.
2006.
18 years.
What's been the biggest challenge that you face as an entrepreneur?
Insurance companies.
Few people know this.
2010, when Obama signed the ACA, the stock price of UnitedHealthcare was $33 a share.
I'll give you one guess what it is today.
$513 a share.
So over my career the insurance industry has consolidated from 20-something different HMOs PPOs, down to five.
But all five of those are now Fortune 100 companies.
You can't get rid of them.
Blue Cross is not publicly traded.
The other four are those.
Four ceos make a hundred million a year.
That's the problem with healthcare, not doctors, because we don't make the money.
What was the most amount of money that you ever made in a single year?
17 million.
How did you scale that out to a seven figure company?
A lot of entrepreneurs they'll have a great idea.
They'll start that business.
They really struggle to scale.
What took you from making six to seven figures at your business?
Well, the key to any business is if you give people what they want or need and this, this is not my, my quote give people what they want or need, you'll become successful.
If you solve people's problems, you'll become wealthy.
So we just walked up on a multimillionaire chiropractor out here in Houston Texas, and he just dropped some straight games for you guys.
That was a fascinating interview right there.
But what did he say?
If you solve people's wants and needs, you become rich.
But if you solve people's problems, then you become wealthy.
Great interview out here in Houston, you guys.
Let's keep it rolling.
Go get this next one.
Come on.
All right.
Thank you.
Question for you, ma'am.
Do you come from a lot of money?
No, actually, no.
My mom is a Trinidadian woman.
My dad's American.
I wouldn't say it was poverty, but it was tough.
You know, we always put God first.
And, you know, with God, everything is possible.
How important has that faith been for you in the success of your business?
Everything.
Faith is everything to me.
God is everything.
And I do believe, when you don't have faith, you lose excitement, you lose motivation, you lose passion and you don't really have much of anything.
God can turn anything around in your life.
Without faith, you're dead in the water.
They put out works is dead.
So you have to have faith and you have to work and together you have success.
What was that turning point to financial freedom for yourself?
I believe it's when I graduated from college.
I went to Howard University.
I have a dual degree, business and communications.
I think graduating with $150,000 in student loans was crazy.
Are you a buyer or a seller?
I'm a licensed realtor in Florida.
And I will say this, a lot of people think just, oh, don't rent.
No, you actually can rent where you live.
And you can rent what you own.
So there's a different philosophy that I have when it comes down to building equity in real estate.
It's building equity period because you have to make sure it's a cash flow.
It's a good investment.
And there's so many other cash flow businesses that you shouldn't buy the building, just rent it off.
It'll be a tax write-off.
So I've been able to learn a lot in business over the years.
And now I have my own philosophies through experience that actually work.
You know they don't teach that in school, right?
They don't teach it in school, so we got to talk more.
What did you do to stand out against 99% of other people?
I have a personal brand and I tell everyone I know I don't care what your occupation is, you need to have a personal brand.
Your personal brand drives your business.
People buy into you, then they buy into whatever you sell.
So, regardless of whatever your network is called, I'm going to get to know you, we're going to connect and then whatever else that you have, I'll support that, but I'm buying it to you first.
So that's number one.
Number two, you cannot give up.
Even if you don't get the ratings, you don't get the support you need.
You got to keep on going because you never know when that one moment where someone will see what you're doing and it just has a breakthrough.
People buy from people that they like.
They do.
You've got amazing advice.
Thank you.
Thank you so much for your time.
I really appreciate it.
You're amazing.
Thank you.
That was an amazing interview, you guys.
She made $4 million in a single year through digital marketing.
We're headed to go get our next interview out in Houston, but I want to talk a quick moment about what she just said.
The way she stood out in business against 99% of people was building a personal brand.
And one thing that comes up time and time again when I interview the most successful people is the importance of building your brand in all aspects, especially in an online presence.
One of the most important components of this is securing a domain name for your business.
Let's be real guys, finding a good .com domain these days is tough.
And that's why I recommend using a .online domain.
Unlike .com, .online has a huge inventory of available names.
So you're much more likely to get the domain that you want.
Whether you're launching a business or offering services, or even freelancing, online works for any industry.
And since the word online is searched over 500 million times a month globally, you're instantly tapping into a massive audience.
And here's the thing, guys.
Right now there's a special offer where you can get a dot online domain for just 99 cents for the first year.
So if you're serious about taking your business to the next level, securing the right domain is key.
So use code sohk to get your dot online domain for just 99 cents for the first year at wwwgitonline.
Slash sohk1.
But with that being said, let's go get this next interview.
Excuse me, sir.
Sir, question for you.
Have you ever been broke before?
Oh, yeah.
What do you do for a living out here in Houston?
I'm in the recycling business.
You're in the recycling business.
What is this?
I started the channel in Austin.
I go to about 7 million followers.
I interview business owners all over the country.
I've interviewed like Mark Cuban, the president of Nike.
Could I ask you just a couple quick questions for you?
Sure, sure.
Appreciate that.
So how long have you been in recycling for?
30 years.
How did you get into this business?
Man, lucky.
I thought I was going to be a trial attorney, and just this opportunity came up and I fell in love with it and that was it.
The path took me.
It chose me.
I didn't choose it.
What was the most amount of money that you've ever made in a single year?
Enough.
Could you give me a range maybe?
A lot.
Did you have to borrow money from banks or take on a business?
Man, I borrowed money from everywhere I can get.
It didn't matter what I had to do.
And then you got to get creative and, you know, had customers put in capital and I returned a certain way.
I mean, look, man, I probably could have gone broke probably four times in the last 30 years.
And you just got to keep finding a way. what was the best financial advice that you ever received throughout your career well i did a mistake on the recycling i put the second largest recycling company in the united states so one of my advisors was the chairman ceo and hussar bush and he told me rick why would i talk to number two when i could go talk to number one so if you're ever going to talk about something tell me what you're the best at not what your second best at right nobody cares so what are you the best at yeah what's your name sir rick perez rick press james duman how old are you now i'm 51. how old were you when you became a billionaire I know he's a billionaire right there, man.
So we're walking around the River Oaks district and I catch my guy coming out of a Sprinter van going into a nice restaurant.
And he owns the second largest recycling company in the United States.
But my biggest takeaway from that interview was how he talked about when he had to borrow money.
He would get it from everybody.
And there were almost three to four times where he went broke.
It's that relentless mindset that a lot of these entrepreneurs had that have led him to building one of the biggest businesses in the entire country.
Great interview out here in Houston, man.
This video just keeps getting crazier and crazier, but let's get this next one and keep it rolling.
Come on.
Excuse me, sir.
Is this your Rolls Royce?
Yeah, bro.
What do you do for living out here in Houston, Texas?
I'm an entrepreneur, man.
I've been a business owner for about 14 years.
I go all over the country just asking business owners their best advice to new entrepreneurs.
Is it cool if I ask you a couple cool questions for the channel?
What was the most amount of money that you ever made in a single year?
2020, $16 million.
$16 million.
What's the greatest lesson you've learned about entrepreneurship over these 14 years?
What's a lesson about business you'd give to somebody that doesn't have a great mentor right now?
Believing that you can is way more profitable than believing that you can't.
Have you ever been broke before?
Oh yeah, we donated plasma for gas money.
We actually did so for 14 years we've been in business, but the first five it wasn't so good.
So what was that turning point towards financial freedom for you?
At the time my wife was like we were donating plasma and she said, not with her face, but with her.
Well, not with her words, but with her face.
She said that if i had the opportunity to do it all over again, i would not, basically with her face, like i didn't sign up for this.
And I read into that.
And so it took me up.
It turned me up.
And then I had this daughter over here, and that changed the game for me.
What's the best financial advice you ever got from a mentor?
Like if there's a lesson about money that a mentor taught you, that always kind of stuck with you, what's that advice you'd pass on to the younger generation?
Stay small enough, long enough, you'll be big enough soon enough.
That means keep the expenses low whenever your money is high.
Don't be in a rush to actually get the culling in and all the jewelry and everything like that.
I was making $30,000 a month with about three or $4,000 overhead.
It wasn't until I had millions saved where I was forced to go from a Kia Optima to a Maserati in that same year.
That's when I bought this cash.
So you ran lean for a while.
Yeah, for sure.
Now, one in four millionaires are living paycheck to paycheck in today's world.
From your perspective, what keeps people broke in today's world?
Scrolling, watching other people live their life versus getting it after themselves.
And what was the deepest life quote that you've ever heard?
I see you at the top because the bottom is too crowded.
But we never look down on anybody unless we're willing to help them up.
But, more importantly, understand this believing that you can is way more profitable than believing that you can't.
You got amazing advice, sir.
Appreciate it, man.
Thank you so much for your time.
I appreciate you, man.
Appreciate that.
