My name is Jack and I'm with my co -host Sochal today.
And we are going to do top five desert island questions.
And so today's question is, Sochal, what are your top five Desert Island albums, music albums?
Uh, my God. I mean, this one's a little bit hard, but I'm going to have to say Shakira MTV Unplugged.
Interesting. I have two MTV Unplugged in my top five.
Wow. Yeah, interesting Yeah, I definitely say Shakira's MTV Unplugged Album Shakira's Fijacion Oral Volume 1 So that's your second choice?
That's my second choice Okay, so two Shakira albums Two Shakira albums I didn't know you were that big of a Shakira fan I love Shakira Especially OG Shakira It's just sublime amazingness Yeah Musas by Natalia La Forcade okay i have no idea what you just said but i'm uh i'm gonna say this is like muses
kind of and that's what it means translates to natalia la forcade is a mexican singer songwriter and the musas album is based off of poleros which is a traditional like mexican genre of old style like 50s music oh i can almost kind of uh picture it in my mind you know yeah you can get like the vibes
a little bit um and so she wrote these songs inspired by that time period and invited a lot of artists from that time period onto the album um as features and it's an absolutely beautiful album i definitely recommend it okay cool um so that knocks out three and then okay this one i think i gotta google
it to make sure it's the right one oh great i remember what it is jesse y joy which are another mexican singer songwriter group and their album is con quien se queda el perro which means who should the dog stay with because it's like a breakup album um who gets the dog okay yeah yes who gets the dog
yeah so it's a great album because it was iconic um in the time period that it was that it came out for and what was the time period when what are we talking here in like the 2010s i believe oh okay okay this is not like i thought you were like 1970s or 80s no no it was just iconic for the 2010s because it
was like a shift in the genre their their genre for mexican music was like a very indie style that was kind of unheard of at the time so i think that's like a big shift okay And fifth one.
My God, I'm battling here.
I know the fifth one is always the hardest one because it's like you're excluding a hundred other ones that you love, you know?
Yes. That's the hard part about it.
Yeah. um i think adie gourmet and trio los panchos so adie gourmet i guess her her english name is adi gorm she's a she's an english -speaking singer i believe she's from the u .s and she made a an a spanish album spanish -speaking album with trio los panchos which is like a mariachi group and she did
a bunch of classics like sabor a me and um piel canela and like all these boleros bolero which is a genre i was talking about earlier yeah um she did a bunch of these songs in this genre with this group joe los punches and i it's beautiful that absolutely beautiful album um yeah so i'm gonna have to
go yeah that was like from the 50s probably yeah yeah and we can get a good feeling here for your musical i think musical taste yeah it's all women yeah well it was female you know like latino or latino sorry latina uh kind of uh singers um yeah that uh it's it's very popular right now too so very very
beautiful um all right so it's my turn now yes it's your turn jack all right we're gonna go old school here night but we're gonna go all the way back to 1994 um nirvana mtv oh my that was gonna be that was it was hard because i left that one off of mine but it was hard to leave it off yeah i love that album
and i can you know it's like these are all albums that on my list that i can listen to all the way through from front to back like i don't skip one song on on the album which is weird because i usually used to buy albums and then i would listen to one or two tracks you know the the title tracks or the title
track and then maybe at the singles and i would never listen to the kind of the the other songs on the album but i love all of the songs on this album so um mtv 1994 i believe nirvana mtv unplugged number two your old or broken phone can let you down when you need it most perfect but at verizon trade

It's Alice in Chains MTV Unplugged, which is, if our listeners don't know, Alice in Chains was a kind of heavy metal grunge rock band from Seattle in the early 1990s.
and they unfortunately the lead singer lane staley died of a drug overdose uh quite a few years ago um brutal yeah it was really terrible um he suffered a bad drug addiction um like so many artists do and so yeah um but that they did an mtv unplugged session that had all such great kind of acoustic
versions of their amazing songs so i love that uh album um number three is weezer is a band and they have their very first album was this blue album it's like a blue it's almost like solid blue um cd k like the it's just a solid blue color and it says weezer or something and uh that whole album i can listen
to all the way through and i i love that album um it's just a a brilliant brilliant album um do you know weezer do you ever listen to weezer there's still i think i i i've i've heard of them but i don't i couldn't say oh i know that song or something but I think I'm sure that if you played a song of them
I would probably recognize it yeah I think maybe our only crossover here in this Venn diagram between the two of us is Nirvana I think it's it's probably um but yeah that album specifically yeah um number four my fourth album is a kind of a weird choice like a lot of people wouldn't wouldn't understand this choice
but But it's a single guy who it sounds like a band, but it's actually just one guy.
And he's called Badly Drawn Boy.
And he did a soundtrack for the movie About a Boy, which came out about 18, 19 years ago.
It's based on a novel.
And the movie is fantastic.
I love it. About a boy.
but the the songs that he wrote for that album i can listen to that album all the way through i just love it and um i just think it's amazing so i that's my number four uh album is the soundtrack to the movie about a boy by the artist badly drawn boy and number five i'm gonna go Bob Dylan, Blonde on Blonde,
and that's probably his most famous album.
It's got all the hits in there, but I can listen to that album over.
I could listen to it multiple times in a row, just on a road trip, I'll hit play, listen to the whole album, go back to the beginning, listen to it again, and find new things in there that are more interesting.
And so I really, really love that album so bob dylan blonde on blonde and i miss you know i didn't put any beatles dylan is another one my dad listened to as well so yeah i'm sure your dad and i probably have more more musical taste i mean i was introduced to nirvana by my dad and then bob dylan i also my
dad listened to a lot so um i'm familiar with your dad listened to nirvana as well yeah my dad also did listen to nirvana wow okay your dad's cool my dad listened to the beach boys and the beetles and uh you know that kind that era so he's uh my dad's a bit older than your dad though so yeah your dad's
my dad's yeah my dad's like between your dad and your age right i guess yeah he's like one generation old he's like an old gen xer right yeah he's like a really old gen x or or like a really young boomer right right my dad's a straight -up boomer all the way yeah yeah yeah all right listeners well i
am actually really interested to hear what your five favorite albums are because i'm i'm curious i want to hear all these international music because our listeners must have a lot and i also want to know if you have any favorite English language albums I think that would be really neat to know and do
