Today is a pretty hectic day.
It's the day before the Perspectopia launch, which is my clothing brand.
And I decided to launch it a week early, because I'm going on a little trip, which means I have a lot of work to do and it's just me.
So today's going to be a very, very hectic day.
I need to take product photos.
I need to work on visuals for social media.
Just sort of organize everything.
I need to finish the website.
I haven't even started the website, but I need to upload all the products to the website, to Facebook, so I can tag it on Instagram.
Days like this are really sort of all over the place and confusing, but I think they're really interesting.
I'm doing a lot of different things, so I thought it would be a great idea to film what I'm doing today, take you guys behind the scenes on sort of everything that I put into my brand in the day before the drop.
So the way I like to get organized is by creating a list.
This is kind of what I have laid out today.
So yeah, I hope you guys enjoy this.
This is sort of what my room looks like.
I cleaned it up a little bit, but I
We got a lot of boxes going on.
All the t-shirts that I made yesterday.
Sticker packs, iron-on patches, hand sanitizers, the packaging for everything.
Some more large stickers.
This video is also sponsored by Skillshare, which I'm really excited about, because I actually used Skillshare to help start my business and to learn a lot of things along the way.
I'm going to talk about that more later on in the video.
But yeah, I need to go edit this visual because that's kind of important to the timeline of the day.
So yeah, thank you for being here and let's get into the day.
Show them what?
Okay, so I just finished the visual graphic that's sort of promoting the drop.
So the next thing I need to do is actually take photos of the products.
And I have like a white poster board.
So I'm gonna use this as the background for the product photos.
Productivity doesn't exist.
It's an illusion that other people have created to make it seem like they're actually working harder than you are.
I want this video to be a source of inspiration for you guys, rather than a comparison that leaves you feeling bad about yourself, your actions and where you are in your path to whatever you're gonna do in your life.
Countless times I've watched videos like this, where people are just working non-stop every single day, staying up late, and they look so successful and I'm just laying in bed feeling tired and like.
What am I doing with my life?
And I don't want this video to be an illusion that I work crazy hard all the time and that it's something unattainable.
Instead, I want this video to provide a framework for how to maybe find a passion in life and how to set a goal and how to work towards that in a way that doesn't require you to grind 24 seven.
How to build and sustain an actual lifestyle that's full of balance and where you can still be happy and hang out with your friends while still working towards your goals and dreams.
Okay.
So I was all ready to do the photos, but then I realized I wasn't actually done with the blue t-shirts.
I still have to iron on and make the little sparks for the ship.
So, slight change of course.
I'm going to have to design and print all of those on.
But I think I'm just going to put it on one t-shirt for now.
But yeah, I need to do that real quick.
I attribute a lot of what I've been able to do and create today to being able to find my own flow state.
And if you're wondering what that is, it was coined by this guy whose name I cannot pronounce, but Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi.
If you can read that,
Anyways essentially, what flow state is is when you're working on something and it feels like you can go on forever and ever and ever.
And I guess the best way to describe this is maybe you're watching a movie, right?
It's continuously exciting and you kind of lose track of time and then suddenly it's over.
And you're like, wow, did three hours really just pass and I was watching a movie the whole time?
You're like, no way, I was only in there for like a couple of minutes is what it felt like.
And there's actually some really interesting science behind this.
And so what happens when you're in flow state is your prefrontal cortex starts to slow down.
And this is actually a legitimate process called transient hyperfrontality.
And what this does is it switches off your inner ego and critic and it distorts your perception of time.
And so I guess this is sort of described as getting lost in your work.
And there are so many different ways to trigger this state of flow, but it's really dependent on the activity that you're doing.
And so I found a really great article that explains a lot more in depth about what flow is and how to get into it, the history of it and how to apply it to different activities that you're doing in your life.
So I won't dive too deep into this, but if you're interested in that, the link will be in the description to check it out.
Quick intermission.
I'm out here with all my friends to announce that this video is, as I mentioned earlier, sponsored by Skillshare.
And the great thing about this sponsorship is I actually used Skillshare a couple months before they even reached out to me.
I took courses on branding by Mark Pollard and storytelling through film by Dan Mace.
Both of these classes that I took were incredibly important in cementing the foundation of what I'm doing today with my YouTube channel and my business.
And to be completely honest, I don't know where I'd be without these classes today.
And I'm also really excited to announce that Skillshare is allowing me to give away two free months of premium Skillshare membership for the first thousand people that click on the link in the description to help you guys explore your creativity.
And then after that it's only 10 a month, which to me it's just mind blowing for the amount of value that you can get out of this.
There's so many different topics.
And I think this is just an incredible opportunity to find and discover a new passion or to really delve into something that you're already passionate or interested in.
So yeah, me and all my friends here are giving a big thank you to Skillshare again for sponsoring this video.
And yeah, if you're interested in signing up for the first two free months, the link will be in the description.
Back to the day in the life.
That's good to go.
I actually have to design or sort of model up the little zigzag electric sparks for the ships.
So yeah, that's what I'm gonna do right now, And so something that I do when I'm working with my business and I have a lot of things to do and it sounds like really daunting to me when I'm looking at it all is that I eliminate all of my distractions.
You know, I try to create my own bubble and I try to get into perspectopia.
You know, it all ties back to creating your own world in your mind with no outside distractions.
So if you're able to find something that you genuinely enjoy and love, It's not hard to get into the flow state.
So something I like to do is intermittently delete Instagram and social media off my phone, so that my phone essentially just becomes a tool and not a dopamine rush that I want to pick up, which knocks me out of flow state.
So over time, if you're able to sort of self-correct and analyze things that knock you out of your flow state or not, are things to help actually put you in your flow state?
I think it's important to be self-aware of those things.
Maybe take some notes and figure out what works for you.
So when I set out to make this video, I didn't want it to be just a flex of me working a really long day to show off my whatever successful business.
That wasn't my intention.
And I realized that when I was looking back at the footage that that's kind of what it looked like and I wasn't providing any value except showing what I was doing.
And so a lot of this advice that i've been giving about finding flow, state and how that allows you to really work hard at something and get lost in it, that only really works if you've actually found something that you're passionate about, and if you haven't, it's not an issue.
You have your whole life to figure that out and don't put pressure on yourself to find that right away.
And again, going back to today's sponsor, which is skillshare, that's a large reason why i decided to work with them on this video, because it's a great platform for you to find something that you're passionate about.
You have two free months of premium membership to explore so many different topics, and i believe that through that you can find something that you're truly passionate about and at the end of the day, i think that's all that really matters in life is that you can find something that you're passionate about and you can work towards that, because i think that creates the greatest fulfillment in life.
Parchment paper first.
We're just going to preheat for like a second and then just hold down for 15 seconds.
Then we'll be good to go.
All right, we've applied the electric sparks, which means we are done with the shirts and we can put everything away and then get on to doing product photos.
Okay, well, this is the part where I have to put the camera away because I'm using the camera.
So basically, what I'm just gonna do is set up clothes right here, lay them out and then take a bunch of photos.
It's really not that interesting, so kinda glad that we can skip it.
Okay, so I've just finished up taking all the product photos.
This is the setup that I have going on.
I'm currently loading all the photos into Photoshop and I am trying to make them into transparent PNGs so that there's not a background.
I can put a white background so I can put it in the website and so that I can also put it into the video that I'm making.
So it's all sort of coming together now.
It's 1.15 in the afternoon.
So yeah, the day's moving along.
Probably gonna eat lunch in like maybe 45 minutes.
I arranged all these stickers in the sticker pack.
I'm pretty happy with how it looks.
I think this is a cool way to arrange them.
But yeah, right now I'm just tracing this out.
Gotta get back to work.
Okay, I'm back.
It is almost four o'clock now and I've eaten lunch and now I'm back to work.
I finished all the product photos so everything is in a PNG file format so I can put it into the visual that I was working on, export that and post that to Instagram and then I can work on the website i was just briefly working on and i just confirmed with my friend jack that we're gonna be taking photos in a little while, so that'll be a fun little adventure.
So yeah, right now i'm gonna finish up that graphics edit.
I'm really excited about this.
Actually, i like how it's coming together with the effects and sort of the visuals really makes it feel like it's perspectopia in my mind.
Along with the music just fits the whole sort of vibe that i'm going for.
So i'm excited for that to post on my instagram.
Another thing that i wanted to be transparent about was that i'm starting to get a little bit tired, kind of hitting that point in the day where like, i've been working and trying to focus really hard, i've been working at probably a pace faster than i could actually sustain throughout the day.
So i kind of want to just lay in bed right now.
Like i'm looking at my bed and it looks really appetizing.
I think you can use that word in this context.
But yeah, i'm a human, i'm not a productivity machine.
I get tired.
That's sort of what's going on in my mind and that's what i'm feeling like i'm not gonna not gonna give in to that.
So back to work.
It's all like fuzzed out like a little computer style.
It's cool.
I like it.
Nice.
And then you're going to have a crisp up picture on there.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sweet.
It's so funky.
How are you?
Honestly, I'm very excited.
It turned out really well, so that always feels good.
Yeah, it's little things like this that make it fun.
I'm gonna export this and then post it on both my Instagram accounts and then I'll probably spend 20 to 30 minutes on the Instagram account posting it properly and then also replying to comments, DMs just sort of interacting on social media.
So yeah, that's what I'm gonna be focusing on right now.
That's Kev, I always answer.
I think we're gonna walk around town a little bit so I can show you sort of the vibe of where I live.
Stacked out here in Cargro for a little photo shoot.
Going to the world famous mural.
We've got the whole world within our country.
That's how narcissistic our country is.
We got the whole world within our country.
How about that?
That's sick.
We found a cat and it ran away.
I found the cat.
It's down there.
Sunset should just make you smile.
I don't know what it is, but... Thank you for the photos.
Good times with Jack, as always.
This I would put on my computer, because that's hilarious.
And this I would put on... This I'd put on my phone.
Your neck!
Just kidding.
Oh!
No!
Come!
All right, well that concludes family time.
It is 10.30 now.
I'm going to start editing, finishing up some of the photos that I took with Jack and I'm gonna put them on the website.
I'm gonna try to go to sleep in an hour just so that I can function tomorrow.
But yeah, I think everything's almost all the way together for the most part.
I'm starting to feel tired now, quite tired actually.
Quick intermission, it's 10.35
My mom is going to shave the back of my neck.
I hope I don't shave too much.
You need to shave your dad's head.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Don't say that.
Just kidding.
Oops.
I don't want to hear the word oops.
We're good enough, right?
Good enough?
How does that feel?
I don't know.
Can you put soap on my neck?
Of course.
Can you just shave it raw?
It's like shaving cream.
Does that feel funny?
You're gonna use actual shaving cream.
I don't have any shaving cream.
You put soap on my neck.
I don't have any shaving cream.
Mom put soap on my neck.
That was amazing.
Gives me so much more energy for another hour of editing photos.
Thank you, Mother.
You're welcome, Natalie.
Alright, let's just edit some photos.
Get this done with.
Today was a bit of a busy day, but we got it all done.
The site, the shop is looking sweet.
Need to finish up the last few things but yeah, it's approaching one o'clock in the morning, which is way past my bedtime, but i just have a little bit more energy left in me, so i'm just just continuing to go on.
So yeah, i think i'm just gonna call this the end of the video, because it's technically past a whole day now.
So yeah, i'm tired, not even really sure what i'm saying at this point.
Thank you for watching.
I hope you enjoyed it.
I'll see you in perspective.
I also wanted to just take this moment to give a shout out to my Patreons for supporting my work and all of my creative dreams and stuff that I'm aspiring to do and create in the future.
I also wanted to take this moment to just give a specific shout out to Vince, who is a new Patreon and an active member on the Perspectopia Discord.
He's a flight attendant at British Airways.
And so over the past couple of days he's been telling some hilarious stories about all of his adventures around the world is honestly fascinating to hear about.
He's a great British accent that's been really fun to listen to.
Anyways, if you haven't joined the Perspectopia Discord, I'll link it in the description if you want to come hang out, have a good time.
Anyways, I think that's all for this week.
I hope you're all doing well again.
And cheers, I'll see you all in Perspectopia.
