Hello everybody, welcome back to Daily Easy English Expression.
Thank you very much for downloading and listening to today's podcast. We have a great expression today, but I hope you don't have this problem.
a something -something -fit, F -I -T.
For example, a sneezing -fit.
What does it mean to sneeze?
S -N -E -E -Z -E. When you have a cold, sometimes you go hachoo, hachoo, hachoo!
That's a sneeze. A sneezing -fit is when you continue to sneeze.
Nonstop sneezing! Or maybe you have a coughing fit!
C -O -U -G -H, cough! A coughing fit!
That's a coughing fit!
Don't worry, I don't have a cold and I don't need to sneeze or cough!
What other kinds of fits can there be?
Well, I'll give you some more After you listen to the dialogue Check it out Who's having a sneezing fit Jimmy he's always sick by the way.
That's his keyboard you're using Did you ever have a sneezing fit You know sometimes when I look at the Sun I sneeze sometimes when I get a cold I sneeze, but I've never had a sneezing fit However, I have had a coughing fit when I was sick.
Oh, those can be very painful.
Now, another common fit would be a laughing fit.
But usually we say a fit of laughter.
That's right. We can use fit as a noun, a fit of laughter, a fit of sneezing, a fit of coughing.
That's not common. A fit of laughter.
A fit of anger, a fit of depression.
These are also common expressions.
A depression fit, no, an anger fit, no, a laughing fit, maybe.
So when you use fit, it has the idea of an uncontrollable anger, an uncontrollable laughter, an uncontrollable depression.
So, usually a fit is not that good.
So, I hope you never have a fit, not even a sneezing fit.
Let's check out the dialogue again.
Who's having a sneezing fit?
Jimmy. He's always sick.
By the way, that's his keyboard you're using.
