Hello, my friends, and welcome back to the English with Neil Learn English podcast.
How's everyone doing today?
In this episode, I'm going to talk about the honeymoon phase.
So the honeymoon phase describes a time in a relationship when everything is new.
Right.
You get a new boyfriend.
You get a new girlfriend.
You just got married and everything is new.
You're starting your new lives together.
You're learning more about one another and everything is fun and exciting.
But when the honeymoon phase is over, this is when reality sets in.
In a relationship, you start maybe having little fights, little arguments.
Or if you're married, you might have some disagreements.
And this is when the real relationship starts.
But the honeymoon phase is not limited to relationships.
The honeymoon phase can also describe when you're starting something new.
It can be a time when you're starting a new job.
Or you're learning a new language.
Or you're just starting something new and everything is fun.
Everything is exciting.
And this is great.
The honeymoon phase is great.
But when reality sets in.
You're like, oh man, am I really in this for the long run?
Do I really love this person?
If it's a marriage, you're like, do I really want to spend the rest of my life with this person?
This is when the honeymoon phase is over.
And I've experienced this multiple times.
But I think the real question that we should ask ourselves is why are we starting in the first place?
If you're learning English, if you're a student of English, Why are you studying English?
If you're dating someone, why are you dating them?
If you're married to someone, why are you married to that person?
And the thing that's going to help you move past the honeymoon phase and something that's going to help you stick together when the honeymoon phase is over, is going back to your goals.
Going back to your reasons why you started in the first place.
This is just like business.
When I started my business, it was so fun and exciting.
And then after a year or two, I was like, oh my gosh, this is really, really hard.
Can I really keep going?
Can I really continue?
I had to go back to my goals.
I had to go back to why I started in the first place.
So if you're starting something and it's really, really hard right now, Go back.
Go back to your goals.
Go back to the reason why you started that thing in the first place.
And that's going to help you move forward.
And that's going to give you the inner motivation to keep going.
All right, my friends, that is it for today's episode.
Thank you for tuning in to the English with Neil podcast.
I look forward to speaking with you in the next one.

Peace.
