Hello, everybody. Welcome back to daily easy English expression.
Thank you so much for downloading the podcast. And we have to thank my new patrons, Minh, Minh Jong, and Utakamura.
Thank you so much for pledging on my Patreon account and making this podcast and my videos come true.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
And thanks to Minh and Yutaka, we have a great expression today.
To turn in. It's a phrasal verb, T -U -R -N -I -N.
To turn in. So, one definition of turn -in is to give your work or your assignment to your boss or to your teacher.
So, if you've been working on a proposal or working on a report and you give it to your boss or your teacher, you are turning it in to turn in.
Another definition of turn in is to go to sleep.
So, what time do you turn in?
Me, I usually turn in about 11 pm.
I usually go to bed at around 11 pm.
Tonight, I'm feeling pretty tired.
So, I'm going to turn in early.
So turn in as a phrasal verb is a very useful verb.
And I want you to practice this expression.
But first let's listen to a dialogue.
Did you turn in the assignment?
Yes, now I'm free! So what are you going to do?
I'm going to turn in early tonight, I'm tired.
There you go, did you turn in the assignment?
So, this might be a student, maybe a worker, I don't know.
And yes, he did, and he's free.
Now he has no stress.
His work, his homework is done.
He's free. So, his friend asks, what are you going to do?
But did you hear the pronunciation?
What are you going to do?
What are you going to do?
What are you? What are you?
What are you? What are you going to do?
Going to do? What are you gonna do?
What are you gonna do?
Yeah, that's real daily English pronunciation in America You need to learn that pronunciation.
So what are you gonna do?
And what does the guy says?
I'm gonna turn in Early tonight.
I'm going to go to bed early tonight.
I'm tired and that's me I'm tired.
