Hello listeners and welcome back to the english with neil podcast.
This is episode number 26, and today i am going to talk about new year's resolutions.
New year's resolutions what is a new year's resolution?
Well, a New Year's resolution is basically a goal, something that you'd like to achieve in the new year.
So right now, I'm recording this podcast on December 17th, 2022.
And in just a couple of weeks, it's going to be January 2023.
This year went by very fast.
And so right now and I'm pretty sure a lot of other people Right now we're planning their New Year's resolutions.
We're thinking about, hmm, what goals do we want to achieve in 2023?
I'm also thinking about my New Year's resolutions.
I actually have two New Year's resolutions and I'd like to share them with you today.
So my first resolution, my first goal is to meet new people.
It's always good to meet new people.
I have a lot of good friends in my life right now.
But I think as humans, I think in order to grow, in order to expand and grow as a human, We need to be around new people and share new ideas and get new perspectives on things.
So my goal this year is to meet new people.
And I've actually already started this goal.
I've actually been attending some seminars, both in person and online seminars.
And I'm going to a New Year's excuse me a Christmas party, an international Christmas party tomorrow.
And I'm going to be meeting some new people.
I've never met them, but it's good.
It's always nice to meet new people.
So my first resolution is to meet more new people.
And my second resolution is something that I really want to start doing.
Is I want to make a daily podcast.
I want to make a daily English podcast.
I think that would be so cool.
And the reason why I want to do it is because.
I listen to a Japanese podcast and the host uploads every single day and I always learn so much just listening to his podcast and it's very short.
It's only about five minutes and he talks about various topics today.
He talked about winter foods here in Japan.
So I would love to do a daily podcast.
And so I'm planning for that.
I'm trying to see how my schedule is going to be next year, because I really, really want to produce and upload a daily English podcast.
And I think for you, the listener, I think it'll be great to listen to some English every single day, some American English, if you're listening to my podcast.
So those are my New Year's resolutions.
I'd like to meet some more new people, and I'd like to work on a daily podcast.
But I have a question for you how do people in your country treat new year's resolutions?
Where i'm from in america, we have a very big custom to make new year's resolutions.
I'm living here in japan right now in i don't know.
I I've asked people here in Japan.
Do they have New Year's resolutions?
And a lot of people don't really think about their New Year's resolutions.
They don't really have any goals that they want to set for the New Year.
Maybe it's just the people that I'm asking.
I find that most people well at least the ones that I talk to really don't have any goals, and I think that's sad.
You should always have something that you're looking forward to, something that you're striving for.
It gives your life meaning.
So let me know, how do people in your country treat New Year's resolutions?
I'd love to hear from you.
All right, everyone, that is it for today's episode.
Thank you for tuning in to the English with Neil podcast.
