Good morning and welcome to Kid News.

Today is Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025.
And we begin with a Springer dinger sending the Blue Jays to the World Series for the first time in 32 years.
Toronto was losing to the Seattle Mariners in the seventh inning of the all-or-nothing American League title game seven, Monday night, when George Springer launched a three-run homer into the first row of seats in the outfield.
That flip the lead ultimately sent Seattle packing and set up the first ever fall classic matchup between LA and Toronto.
For their part, the defending champ Dodgers are chasing history.
No team has repeated as World Series champions since the 2000 New York Yankees.
First pitch will be thrown Friday at 8 p.m.
Eastern in Toronto.
The on-again, off-again talks to end the war in Ukraine are apparently off again.
After a high-level call between US and Russian dignitaries yesterday, the White House announced that President Trump no longer plans to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin for a second in-person summit in the after Russia rejected Mr Trump's demand to stop the war in Ukraine along current battle lines.
Sources say the White House may be trying to avoid a repeat of the Alaska debacle.
As a senior European diplomat told Reuters.
I guess the Russians wanted too much and it became evident for the Americans that there will be no deal for Trump in Budapest.
The Atlantic hurricane season isn't out of steam yet.
Tropical storm Melissa, the 13th system, strong enough to get a name formed in the Caribbean yesterday.
Forecasters predict it'll bring heavy rain and winds to Haiti, Cuba and the Dominican Republic.
But most models suggest it won't impact the U.S., Hurricane season runs through November.
This holiday travel season is shaping up to be one for the ages.
While last year's Thanksgiving was the busiest Thanksgiving ever at airports across the country, 2025's Turkey Trot could top that.
According to CBS News, holiday trips booked between June 30th and October 8th this year are up 22 percent over 2024 for Thanksgiving and up nearly 1 percent for the week of Christmas.
The government shutdown is dragging into week four and there's little sign of progress.
But the political standstill hasn't stalled a big presidential project.
On Monday, construction crews began tearing down the east wing of the White House to make room for Mr Trump's new, privately financed 250 million ballroom.
And while he's received pushback for changing the White House, he's not the first president to do so.
The indoor swimming pool was converted to the press room during Richard Nixon's presidency.
Gerald Ford then had an outdoor pool installed in 1975 and Barack Obama modified the grounds tennis courts for basketball games.
One of the biggest renovations however, came under Harry Truman, who basically gutted and rebuilt the White House from 1948 to 1952.
His family had to live across the street during the construction.
It's a decidedly low-tech problem for high-tech Google.
Over the weekend, the company reportedly had to tackle an infestation of bed bugs at its Chelsea campus in New York City.
The company sent an email to employees Sunday telling them to stay home until further notice, so cleanup crews could find and eradicate the pesky biters.
They did, but Google is still asking its employees to be on the lookout for the miniature menaces, even at home, since they tend to hitchhike.
Every few years, some big New York institution gets hit with an infestation.
According to The Week, The Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Empire State Building, The Waldorf, Astoria and even the United Nations have all done battle with the bugs.
But the Big Apple isn't the biggest host of bedbugs.
According to Orkin, that dubious honor goes to Chicago, while Terminix points to Philadelphia.
Still to come, two black bears hit the gym in Aspen.

The bears of Katmai in Alaska aren't the only ones fattening up for a long winter's sleep.
Last week, a few hungry brutes sauntered into an Aspen Colorado gym to snack on protein shakes, supplements and coffee.
Ajax fitness owner David Mills says the bears waltzed in around 430 in the morning and made themselves at home.
One of them even took a cold plunge.
For nearly two hours, David told Storyful, the pair roamed the gym like VIP guests on an after-hours tour.
According to a Colorado Parks and Wildlife news release, these bears hit the gym as they enter the season of hyperphagia, when they spend up to 20 hours a day trying to eat as much food as possible.
How much do they need pre-hibernation?
The CPW says 20000 calories, which is equal to 20 chicken sandwiches, 10 large orders of French fries, 10 soft drinks and 10 milkshakes a day.
The bears caused $400 in damage, then saw themselves out.
David took no chances and installed an electric mat which successfully thwarted a return visit the very next day.
Thanks again to the Cridell family of Huntington Beach, California for sponsoring today's quiz.
And a big birthday shout out to Deegan.
Have fun celebrating.
