Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Tori.
Today is Tuesday, August 26th. 2025. And we begin with SpaceX.
By the time you listen to this podcast, the biggest, most powerful rocket in the world could have had its 10th test launch. or not.
The critical blast-off for Starship was originally set for Sunday night from SpaceX's launch site at Boca Chica Beach in Texas, but the event was scrubbed at the last minute and reset for 7.30pm yesterday.
The company has been stung by three recent high-flying failures Starship vehicles exploded moments after liftoff in January and March.
And in May, one broke apart upon reentry.
If last night's try was successful, the goal was to attempt a controlled water landing.
Starship's ultimate mission is to return astronauts to the moon, and eventually colonize Mars, which has long been a dream of Elon Musk.
Call it a sign of the digital times. After 400 years of service, Denmark is... doing away with mail delivery effective at the end of this year.
This includes letters, printed advertisements, and magazines.
Post Nord, which is like the post office here in the U.S., says thanks to the internet, hardly anyone uses snail mail anymore.
In fact, since 2000, the volume of letters the government-run agency has handles has declined by more than 90% and continues to fall rapidly.
On the other hand, package delivery has surged, largely because of the boom in online retail.
And that's what it'll focus on. So what if the letter-writing bug bites someone after January 1st?
Private companies are expected to step in and fill the gap.
A remarkable archaeological dig is pulling an ancient sunken city from the depths of an Egyptian bay.
It's taking place off the coast of Alexandria, which was once on par with Rome and Athens in importance. and contained one of the largest libraries in history as well as a magnificent lighthouse that was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
Now, much of the area is underwater, thanks to earthquakes and seas that rose over the centuries.
Divers and cranes have so far pulled up a headless statue? a sphinx, and a priest figure, along with parts of buildings that may have been part of the nearby ancient city of Canopus. according to the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities.
Not all of what's buried will be retrieved, however.
Some of it, says the minister, will remain part of our sunken heritage.
A popular restaurant chain has made a very unpopular design change.
As part of a major rebranding to, in part, attract new and younger customers, Cracker Barrel dropped the barrel and the little man that sat next to it from its iconic yellow and brown logo.
The change sent the internet into a frenzy and Wall Street too.
Cracker Barrel stock lost $100 million in market value on Thursday. the day of the reveal and shed even more value on Friday and yesterday.
It's not often a baseball player can one-up a heckler, but two-way Dodger sensation Shohei Otani made it look easy.
After taking the verbal ribbing for nine long innings on Sunday, Shohei stepped up to the plate and launched a solo home run to extend his team's lead over San Diego.
But instead of returning to the dugout to celebrate with his teammates, Shohei made a beeline to the offending fan to give him the first high five and a pat on the back as if to say, how'd you like that?
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told the Associated Press after the game that It was very out of character for Shohei, but the heckler was wearing him out the whole game.
That was great. That was fun. It was good to see Shohei show his personality.
Still to come, the man behind some of the most recognizable music in the world says it's not that great.
But first, today's Kid News quiz. which aerospace company is working on the 10th launch of the biggest rocket in the world.
SpaceX. What country is ending its paper mail delivery service at the end of the year?
Denmark. How did Cracker Barrel Restaurant rattle investors and its customers? by changing its longtime logo.

John Williams has been writing movie soundtracks since the 1960s and has over 100 credits to his name.
But in a biography that's coming out soon, the 93-year-old composer says... he actually doesn't think his music is all that great.
And he doesn't think highly of film music in general.
It's a rather remarkable statement from someone who has 53 Oscar nominations, second only to Walt Disney. and is considered by many the very best film composer ever.
In fact, his biographer says his influence can't be overstated.
I think the two-note theme in Jaws is maybe the most famous musical unit in I think more people around the world recognize these two notes than almost any other piece of music.
